"I want outrageous speed with a Callaway XR Driver”!"

Jordan Spieth -6

Kevin Na -6

Brian Stuard -6

couple of things:

a) I don't think the 2nd or 3rd picks rally matter because if I recall correctly the winner of these has always been a first pick

b) lots of players still need to qualify

So close to a new driver, and yet I'm not disappointed at all.

J. Spieth -5

C. Kirk -6

D. Willett -6

Congrats to inthehole (if I figured this correctly)

Players play, tough players win!

No Mike I cry foul, he didn't write out the "full names" of his picks, so by rule he should be disqualified

Details regarding the red, underlined rule: - It's very simple guys. The winner is the first person (who satisfies the other rules) to choose the correct winner and score with their first choice. If nobody picks the correct score, the winner is the first person to have the closest score for the correct winner. If nobody chose the correct winner with their first choice, we repeat the process for everyone's second choice, and then the third. - In other words, if someone chooses Joe Smith for their first choice - at any score - and you choose him for your second choice, you've wasted your choice. Additionally, if someone chooses Joe Smith at -2 for their first choice, it makes no sense to choose Joe Smith at -2 for any of your choices if you're posting after that entry (unless the person is DQed or ineligible, of course). - Think of your picks like draft picks. Your second and third choices should be someone you don't think will be chosen in the first "round." [rule] Here's an example: I want outrageous speed with a Callaway XR driver! Rickie Fowler -5 Charles Howell III -5 Ben Martin -5 [rule] It does not make sense to pick Dustin Johnson, Brandt Snedeker and Rory McIlroy since Brandt and Rory will be other people's first picks. The prizes: Callaway XR Driver (Pro or standard) Callaway XR Fairway (Pro or standard)

You even bolded it in the Rules, Mike... First and Last have to be written out I think @HastyElephant wins the Driver

I don't know about that ... IMO, I think it's pretty easy to understand the intent, or the 'principle', to use a golf term, of the rule here.  Too many people in previous contests have made picks like "tigs" or "eldrick" or "rors" or "DJ" or even "jordan," and the point of the rule is to help remind people that there needs to be some clarity.  His first initial with his full last name is pretty clear.

I mean, if we're going to take the rule that literally, then I vote that @HastyElephant is disqualified as well (as is every other person in the entire contest) because 'Jordan Spieth" is not his full name ...

his full name is Jordan Alexander Spieth.

Hey, a rules a rule, right?

However, that said ... it is worth noting that you may have a point, albeit for the wrong reason, because it appears that @inthehole didn't write out the Callaway phrase as requested in the very first rule:

I'm out right now so I'll announce the winners in a couple hours. The problem with @inthehole 's entry is that he didn't include the Callaway phrase. The full name part is just there to avoid confusion or for guys posting nicknames. It's clear he picked Jordan Spieth.

The purpose of writing the full name out is simply to differentiate between someone writing "Watson" (Bubba? Tom?) or "Rickie" (Barnes? Fowler?). The phrase is required and @inthehole 's entry is invalid.

So first initial is OK, as long as its clearly who you were picking? The Rules CLEARLY say first and last name.... First initial isn't a first name Erik and Mike...

Chill, man. I posted what the intent is. So did Mike. His entry is invalid because of the missing phrase anyway.

@Wally Fairway posted Spieth at -6 and was the first entry that was closest to -5.  No one else did -5.
