What'd You Shoot Today?

Recommended Posts

75 on the white tees (shorter than I usually play but still well over 6000 yards and a LOT of fun) on medium easy local course.

the front nine was fantastic - just regulation hole over and over and over again.  Hitting fairways and greens.  But I couldn't seem to make a putt.  and my irons are playing a little short but I'm hitting them straight, so I had a lot of lag putts and not as many birdie opps as I normally would on a good day.

I was solo the whole time, (they just cleared off a tournament).  I had to fix like 10 ball marks on each greens (I hate tournaments for this reason alone).  And finished in about 2 and half hours - and still found over a dozen balls without hardly trying.  (Fairways hit doesn't mean I still don't drive along the hazards and tree lines and look)

Shot a 42+46=88 at my home course this weekend. My third straight round under 90 after breaking it for the first time just a few weeks ago. Seemed to have reached a new level.

Yesterday I shot 50 in Rockleigh Blue course NJ white TEE

Today I shot 49 in Overpeck Black Tee...

Can I honestly tell people I have broken 100?

I shot a 45 at Carrington Golf Club tonight. Tripled the last hole but an otherwise nice round.

Played my worst round in four months at Woodley Lakes Golf Club. Shot a 95 from the blues, with six three putts. Last round was an 82 from the whites, for a point of comparison.

Had four putts hit the cup and not go in, missed a number of putts by a foot or so, and my short game chips distances were all off. Still, managed to hit 14/18 of the fairways in regulation, so the problem was really more about regaining control over my short game. I will probably go back and shoot under 90 with relative ease in the near future.

Despite it being my worst round in months, it was still way, way more fun than being at work!  .

Also, I was happy to have very fast, considerate players in front of me.

The only unusual thing was that I had to take a drop to avoid killing a goose. I had to take a low shot to stay underneath a tree, but numerous geese were standing 2-3 feet in front of my ball, and refusing to move because it was a nice, cool spot for them. Tried to scare them away by shouting and waving the clubs at them, they didn't move (I'm sure this did make me look like a braying jackass to the guys on the neighboring tee, though, so at least someone got some entertainment from this). So, I took a drop a few feet to the right to avoid executing a goose on the spot (still had basically the same "under the tree shot"). I'm pretty sure it violates one of the Rules of Golf, but then again, killing a goose violates a few local city and county ordinances, and possibly a few state laws as well. I'll sleep well tonight knowing I didn't kill a goose and avoided having several large fines or charges against me.

Had a crazy round yesterday, 9 pars, 1 birdie, 4 bogey, 4 double bogey.  It was like the old guy in caddy shack having the game of his life in the hurricane.  Ha

Shot my handicap in the League last night, a 42.

5 pars

3 bogeys

1 triple - I hit too much club and pulled it slightly so I ended up on a severe downslope chipping over a bunker to a green severely slopping away from me!  Worst possible shot in golf :)

Ive been trying to break 100 this year after starting to play last year.  Just did it twice in a row with a 99 & 98.  However, i was a little disappointed after both these rounds as I played my irons really well (I dont use woods/drivers yet) and was on the green putting for birdie/par on most holes but my putting is drastically bad - last nights 98 had 40 putts with six 3 putts!!!

I have never been a great putter but think now I am getting better before the green I am noticing this more - really need to hit the practice greens before tomorrows game!

Gearing up for my Club Championship next weekend, played fairly solid but did not hit the driver particularly well.  Started the day with a 3 putt bogey ended on 18 with a 3 putt double.  Feel like I left a couple shots out there, but overall I'm happy at where my game is right now.

Par 72 (37-35) - 71.2/126 - 6400yds

40 - 38 --78

Fairways hit - 4/14

GIR - 8/18

Putts - 31

Hellava round today. Played 9 holes, walking, 95 degrees and blistering humidity. 3,173 yd / 124 slope

Shot a 41 par 37 (4 over!) I have 7 pars, 2 doubles. One of the doubles was from a completely duffed drive on a par 5 that tucked away in some super tall grass in front of the tee box to not be found. So had to take a penalty there and re-hit lying 3 from the tee box. Other than that, I played the hole fine, reached the green in 3 and 2-putted for a +2.

Second was a 160 yd par 3, tee shot was ~5 yards off the end of the green but I thinned it a little far past the flag and had a pretty bad 3 putt.

Other than that, I was on fire! Felt GREAT, especially for walking, in the heat, and having some tough up and downs. 4 GIR, 3 nGIR (5 GIR if you dismiss the penalty lol). Only 16 putts. I had 3 tap-in pars.

Playing only nine holes in the hot weather we have here right now. Shot a 5 over 41 with two doubles. One was a three putt that lipped out. The other was a par three that I buried my tee shot underneath the lip of the green side bunker and all I could do was hit and watch it come back down into the bunker. Knocked it on and two putted. Pretty satisfied with the round. It is the 4th straight nine hole score in a row that was between 40-42. I have been playing very poorly as of late and this is sort of I got sunshine on a cloudy day. LOL

+2 (front) and +3 (back) for 77 at Deer Creek Golf Course.

Back tee: 6998 Yards. 73.8/143.

I feel like my game is finally coming around after the dreaded slump.

Broke 80 for the first time on a 6100 yard par 72 69.4/135 (not too long but still a par 72), with a 2 over for both front and back nines.

Not too long since being able to break 90 pretty consistently, so I'm pretty happy about it; had to grind away the last 5 holes though due to the immense heat.

38 and 42 for 80 yesterday, which is my lowest score yet.

The thing is this could have been MUCH lower had it not been for a careless bogey on the 16th with a stupid three putt and a ridiculous triple on the 17th!

45/39 for an 84 yesterday,

Only the 2nd time I've ever shot a sub 40 nine. Felt good.

I started before 7 am and finished 16 before calling it quits because of the heavy thunderstorm.   I started rough, +5 after 2 but finished the front 9 at +5.   It makes a difference if I don't warm up before a round.   After 16, I was +10 but called it quits.

Played a really weird round at the weekend. I don't even know what I shot on the front 9, I didn't finish 2 holes after losing balls and not scoring Stableford points.

The back 9 was just bizarre. Shot a 41 that included 3 double bogeys, 2 birdies, and my first ever eagle!

The eagle came on the shortest of the par 5s on my course. I absolutely nailed my drive almost 300 yds, leaving me 170 uphill approach to the green. Wasn't hitting my irons particularly well so chose to try and run a 7 iron onto the green using the ridiculously hard fairways we have as a result of our recent 'heatwave', if I mishit it is at least I'd have a short approach for my 3rd. I couldn't have played it better and left myself 10 feet for eagle.

On the par 5 18th all I needed was par for a 39. Again hit a good drive, was conservative with my second, duffed my 60 yard pitch shot, knifed a chip, took 3 more shots to complete an utterly depressing double bogey.

I soon got over it. I got an eagle :)
