84 (11.4 differential if it were in season).  Ventured out Sunday.  Both days of the weekend were more like a great day in late April than the middle of February. As expected the courses that announced they were open were swarming with my fellow hackers, attempting to cash in on the bonus Mother Nature gave us.  What was unexpected was that the "cart path only" and horde of players did not devolve into a death march.  My buddy and I asked the starter to pair us up and we played with a married couple.  She could hit it and didn't waste any time.  Having a foursome following a threesome helped the feeling of not dragging along.  While we waited a bit, it was never an inordinately long time.  No one seemed to be treating the round like the final 18 of the U.S. Open so we finished in a bit over 4 hours.

Went and played a little par 32, 9 hole course before it starts raining down here. Missed a couple of birdie putts but I was extremely excited about the results. For the first time ever I broke 40 by shooting a 39 and also for the first time I caught the ball just right on a drive and hit it 310 yards (slightly down hill but I'll take it). Swings just all felt right and, if I didn't have a couple of shanks which put me in difficult positions under trees, that score would have been a lot better.

Well, its been a few months since I have posted but I played for the first time in 3 months.  Playing in February in St Louis is a treat!!  We have had some great weather recently.

Far Oaks Golf Course

39 - 38 - 77 - This is my low round!!  I was putting for Eagle on 3 of the holes today (didn't get one) but had some great shots and putts.  Best all around round I have ever played.  Sank a 50 ft but for par on the last hole

Shot a 42-43 today for an 85. Pleased with the round overall, 5/18 GIR, 35 putts total, including a 40 footer for a birdie on a par 3.

I was in west Jacksonville, FL last weekend and got out to play some while my wife was showing her horse at the equestrian center.

Saturday Bent Creek:

Short, fun layout, Unbelievably bad pace of play. Round took north of 5 hours.  As has been the norm this year so far, I completely fall apart on the back 9.  I initially attributed it to getting annoyed with the pace

39/49 5 greens 6 fairways

Sunday Eagle Landing:

MUCH better course, hence the 60 bucks I paid.  6700 yards from the one up tees, some of the fastest bermuda greens I've ever seen

41/52!!!!  6 greens, 9 fairways

Again, I lost it on the back.  Something is going on, I swear(or it's all in my head), where about hole 11 or so, I completely lose my ability to make contact, much less have a clue where it's going.  Fatigue maybe?  That 41 on the front was with a triple on 9.  I was at 34 when I teed off on that hole, which is amazing at my HCP.  It was downhill from there.  Great course though.

Well, got out today at a local, upscale daily fee course, although in late February in NE Ohio the conditions were hardly upscale. But it was snowing here just last Thursday, so the course can't be blamed for that. And I don't know how late they aerated last year, but the greens haven't even begun to heal.

The only accommodations we made were moving up to the Senior tees, even though we ARE Seniors, and allowing lift clean and place in fairway and rough due to the wet, muddy conditions, the fact that we aren't pros, and we weren't playing in a sanctioned event.

I shot an 83 on a Par 71 golf course, which is right in my wheelhouse. Overall I struck the ball solidly and hit quite a few fairways. The more amazing thing was I had only one 3 putt on those rotten greens!

Overall, a very successful day. I was just happy to get out and am as stiff as board right now! It feels good!

Hi guys! Long time lurker from Arizona. Avid golfer that plays as much as possible which still isn't enough. I not the most consistent player shooting usually 75-85 but lately have been 80-90. Played over the weekend and had a great chance at a low round until I hit an iron shot that the wind pushed off line enough to catch a bad bounce out of bounds.Wheels came off for a couple holes. Shot an awesome 88 with 3 birdies and an eagle. I couldn't have shot a worse score considering those 4 holes.

Got out again today, which was kind of a surprise! My phone rang while I was still in bed, all knotted up from yesterday's golf!

It was my buddy's Son who works for FedEx. He had worked about an hour and a half when his Super told him to go home because there was no more work. Well, what did he care, he got paid for 8 hours!

So, I booked a time through Golfnow for a local course. This is a course that we would usually consider "second tier" compared to the course we played on Monday. However, the turf was a bit firmer, although you still didn't get any run, but the big difference was the greens! Their greens were completely healed from the prior Fall's aeration, were firm, and putted fairly fast!

I shot an 84, again right in my wheelhouse. The big thing was that I was stiff as a board for most of the front side going out in 45. But I felt I was loosening up in the last few holes. I brought it in with a 39 on the back side to keep it sub 90! And the back 9 is harder than the front.

All in all, I'm glad my buddies called me today. There's nothing better to get over a case of stiffness than to get out there and be moving around. And some Ibuprofen doesn't hurt!

Played our first simulator game yesterday and first round since October. shot a 92 at Pebble Beach. 10 foot gimmes, only used the mulligan button once. It's still cold outside and we are seeing snow this week.

44 (+9):  1 Par, 7 bogey, 1 double.  First two holes sucked but what do I expect for the first time out in 3 months only 3 weeks out from shoulder surgery.

A couple of bombed (for me) drives, 1st drive was lost ball. Chipping was mediocre and putting was so-so with no 3putts; only 1 GIR, but 6 other nGIR's.

Not my best round, but again, I'm happy to knock the cobwebs off.

88 (+17) on the tighter of the two courses I play regularly. When I was driving well, it was pretty promising- effortless power for me compared to last year. The hitch was that I was a tad inconsistent and pulled a few drives into the trees left. Only one truly awful tee shot, and that was a par 3. Total chunk into the water. Score wasn't great, but I can take away a lot of good things. With some practice, that could be many strokes lower, which might put me sub-10 HCP (the big goal of the year).

Me and a buddy played today, but before we started, due to windy conditions, we decided to just goof off, and  use our best immitation of a golf swing that keeps showing up on one of our social media accounts. The old Moe Norman grip, stance, and swing. Some guy is peddling it for $7 I think.

After pulling the info from our phones, and doing the best immitation we could, with discription given, we actually played close to our normal games.

I shot an 84, and my buddy shot an 82. Pretty sure we both saved a few strokes with our putters. One thing we did notice was our full swing shots were lower than normal which actually helped in the wind.

This by no means is an advertisement for Norman's swing by me. Like I said we were goofing off. Probably didn't get close to doing it right to begin with. I will return to my normal swing next time out, which is tomorrow.

Played 9 holes yesterday and had a 36 on a par 34. 2 bogeys on the last 2 holes.  Very happy considering I had an 86(par 70) on the same course last Saturday. Very disappointing as it was the club championships and i was shooting in the high 70s with a cold putter in the days leading up to it.  But a 3 day rest seems to have done me no harm at all.  The only part of my game that was below par was my driving but hopefully I'll clean that up before round 2 on Saturday.

Best ball striking round this year. Every club was solid, on target and on the number.

While I did get my butt in trouble going at a left side pin and the miss cost me a ball in the drink,
my only double on the day with one bird and three boog's it was an enjoyable day.

Not today, but Sunday I got out during this unexpected Wintermission here in Michigan. I didn't play very well, considering I hadn't even hit the range - shot an 86, after starting double, double, double, and putting was tough as it the greens were likely stimping at about a 3.5.

Weather is holding up so I got to the range at lunch and might try for 9 this afternoon - Wintermission ends sometime tomorrow, so I is likely a month or so before we get back on the courses up here.

Shot a 90 with a quad.  Hit the ball really well. Finally getting my release and follow through figured out.  One lesson down and 9 to go and I already have improved and figured a few things out.  Looking forward to more

    • It is not THE tour but it is a tour and I think they need to lean more into the golden tee style golf holes. Give us something you cannot give us in real life and give us something that is entertaining and the players have fun doing it also. That massive draw Rory hit to recover on one hole was so fun.  I know it becomes more gimmicky but I think that would make it more entertaining.
    • Day 199 3-2 worked on wider swing and adding some speed. Finding it difficult, thats a good sign. Foam balls.
    • Hey guys what’s up.    I just ordered some new SM11 wedges and I want to sell my old ones that 3 of them are in great condition. Does anybody knows a good place to sell them?
    • Day 53: 2026.03.02 Easy swings in the garden working on raising right arm in backswing.
    • Just some clarifications.  Something to try out. It is something Rory does. He extends his left knee, which closes his hips a bit, but it also shifts him right. It was something we were trying. It could help be a trigger for the backswing and get me shifted right. Also help with my left knee flexion.    More focus on this^. I have to nail this, or the downswing will just be dead.  Less of this^ Got clarification from @iacas that the numbers might be over what they actually are. So, this was much closer to A or A- rather than like B or B-. Something to keep an eye on, but much better now. Anything associated with me overturning/swinging needs to be monitored, lol.  Focus on this^ Drills. Slam the medicine ball down and behind me. Going to search Amazon for a soft medicine ball I can throw. With it being like 5lbs, it is not that physically demanding. It definitely gets the feeling of how to throw the club down behind you with the arms.  Staying tall, similar to the medicine ball, but swing the club down hitting the ground way behind the ball. Not 100%, but don't be afraid to thump the ground.   Not much of drills for the left leg. Just a lot sooner. Because I have tons of knee bend going from A3 to A5, it is probably going to feel like I don't load the left leg that much but just extend it. Might incorporate some medicine ball exercises for this.  On a side note, I been thinking of this since the last lesson (January). The final swing for me is going to probably feel superfast/quick. I went and looked at an older GEARS swing. The backswing was like 1.3 seconds, and total time of 1.6 seconds.  A long backswing, a quickish downswing (0.3-ish seconds). A 4.4 to 1 tempo (PGA Tour is 3:1)  On the swings where I was doing the downswing stuff on Sunday. It went to 1.4 seconds (13% reduction), and the downswing went to 1.1 seconds (15.2% reduction). A 3.9 tempo. Getting closer to 3:1. I could tell the swing was going to be shorter/quicker when the torso turn runs up against hips that restrict the turn. Especially when I do the right arm stuff much better. It was like, "Oh crap, I stopped turning".  If my swing was closer to PGA tour averages, 0.75 second backswing and 0.25 second downswing. That is about 30% quicker than the baseline swing. Which will probably feel like 50% quicker. I might play around with a metronome. Just so I can get use to how fast I have to do this. I may need to speed up the right arm stuff. Not going to try that now, just maybe for later.
