Can guests post without logging in? Just noticed this (comment in big number blog entry):

Yes, for now. If it becomes a problem we can disable that. Guests can post but they have to pass a security challenge to see if they're not a robot. If they fail their post is deleted.

Not a bug, but i liked the scroll through the new posts on the old site. Is there the option to do this or is it just the latest posts you can see on the pages section. Not a biggie just found it useful

Change the settings on the left. When 4.1 comes out in a week or two or four, you can do all sorts of things here.

And you'll be able to save them. Look at the 4.1 thread on this site.

Sorry Erik, probably looking in the wrong place but where is the settings option (looking in account settings but cant find it).

Other than that the site works great, seems to be faster than the old one

Man, just looked at my "My Swing" thread (linked in signature if you really want to see) and the formatting was awful.  I haven't checked enough old threads to see if what used to look nice is now odd.

The settings to the left when you go to "New Content".

Here's how mine is set.

Site looks nice. I know the login issues are known but I experienced one a little different. My old password worked fine, but when I logged in, it kept reverting me back to the login page like I had not logged in or had the wrong password or something. But I could then click on forums or anything else and it would show that I was logged in.  Not sure if this was the same login issue you referred to initially.

I don't think you can.

It was just the first post.

Yeah, so… wait five seconds. Searching is super intense - so you're limited in how often you can perform a search.

I'm getting that same error message when going from one page to another (e.g., from "New Content" page 1 to page 2), not doing a search.  First saw it yesterday. It was happening maybe 1/4 of the times I went from page to page; this morning a lot more, >75%.

Perhaps I am just missing it, but the old platform had a "search this thread" button I could use to see if I had posted something previously on a topic. I don't see this on the new version. I am not one to repeat what I, and others have already posted.

Up in the search box now, you can drop down where you want to search.  You can do the whole site, just that topic, or even that forum area. I like that it is combined now.

The "New Content" thing is still a search. It's a search with pre-defined characteristics.

It's also not happening more often: you're just clicking "page 2" more often and/or more quickly.

Not really a bug, it's that my message mail box (PM) is over-full.

Under our new system, capacity = 90; I have 241.

Any way to capture and store selected older PMs, or do I just have to whack some?

Also not a bug, but are we allowed to give recommendations for posts in non-golf topics? Most notably the gun control topic going now. Hopefully we all restrain ourselves from giving tons of kudos for partisan issues when we are like-minded, and we stick to giving thumbs up to well-written, effective commentary on golf issues.

    • Bryson got hit with a 2 shot penalty, after the round, for improving his lie on hole 5.  Here is a post on X, showing how he stepped on high grass when he was looking down his target line.  When they cut to the side shot, you can see how close he was behind the ball.  I think the R&A probably made the correct decision. You just have to be really careful when you are walking in the high grass, around the ball and where you are to make a swing.

    • Overall, well said. People have to be very careful in trying to describe very complex problem in simple terms. In this case, it is a clear fundamental misunderstanding of Newton's 1st and 3rd laws.  To clarify more on the misinterpretation of Newton's 1st law. The exact interpretation of Newton's 1st Law....  "Every body continues in its state of rest, or of uniform motion in a straight line, unless it is compelled to change that state by forces impressed upon it" yea, a body will stay motionless unless a force acts upon it. An object will stay on its path of motion unless a force acts upon it.  I get it, complex physics problems are difficult. There is a lot of simplification done in most physics class when it is taught. A classic problem uses a frictionless surface. Projectile motion excludes drag and wind direction. Collisions are usually elastic. The golf swing is not a simple physics problem.  Yea, I think they got caught up the data on the graphs and are not truly understanding cause and effect.  If the golfer isn't first pushing into the ground, then the ground isn't going to push back.  The internal forces of the body create the motion, not the external forces from the ground. The ground isn't like what Psy uses to start his concert. 🤣 You probably need to be connected to the ground and have those GRF to help the body produce the motion you want. Your body has to move in the right way to produce the GRF which helps you move the body in the way you want. Body motion precedes the GRF.
