Nice to see Duval get a lot of votes. Joe Buck has high negatives. Greg Norman thinks there was a negative Twitter campaign against him and Fox.

Yah online surveys can be skewed by the "get out the vote" twitter alerts, so who knows. I'm surprised Jim Nantz is viewed so positively. He makes me puke. And I'm pretty tolerant of bad tv coverage.

Faldo is terrible,I have to hit mute constantly...Azinger is the best but we don't see him much...Norman blew it with his absurd effort to provide  his google medical explanation for Jason Day falling down....Johnny Miller is always good.

Note: I do not answer direct questions or points raised against my untested and unproven theories, have no history of teaching anyone, and post essentially the same nonsense in everyone's Member Swing threads.

I dont put much stock in any polls/surveys of any kind. Most are misleading or just down right biased. As for this list, it is not surprising. Only name that caught my eye was Rich Lerner being listed as I thought he was long gone from TV.

I like Miller more so than Faldo or any of the others listed. Just my opinion which means little since I dont watch that much TV golf because of the announcers. Take out 3 majors and I don't watch more than 4 hours the rest of the year.

Rich Lerner is still somewhat prominent on the Golf Channel, although Jimmy Roberts might be supplanting him in that human interest shtick that they do. Since NBC owns Golf Channel, Lerner shows up for the NBC telecasts typically, but it does seem like the NBC/GC partnership has some sort of divide. Lerner still feels like he's on the GC side of it, as opposed Miller/Maltbie who are on the NBC side. Roberts feels more NBC than Golf Channel, but he does have a show on Golf Channel (or he used to last year, anyway).

For the big tournaments on NBC, it feels like Jimmy Roberts kinda bumps Lerner off to the side, since they both do that philosophical, feel-good, studio-host essay journalist thing. But Lerner is still around, waxing poetic all the time.

Faldo over Miller?  Not in my household.

What surprises me most is how the votes are spread out so evenly. I don't recognize half of these peoples' names and don't recall enough coverage from some of the others to have an opinion on them.

I agree with you on Miller and Azinger. I actually don't mind Faldo.

Another guy I never thought I'd like, but I've changed my mind, is David Duval. I've really enjoyed his commentary when he's been on.

Funny. A few years ago Miller was getting crucified online about being too negative.  Now rated one of the better.

I don't really ever notice much unless they are overly negative, really bad or brand new.  Vocalized pauses, (um, OK, and the dreaded ya' know) stammering on words too often, that kind of thing.  We will see how the Buck/Norman thing plays out as they figure it out.  Other than that it is just background noise most of the time. I love watching golf and the majors especially but most of the time I am multitasking and the announcers are just noise.

I did enjoy the caddies they had on the broadcast a couple weeks ago.

I have to think some personal biases or grudges could be coming into play here, since Norman did a decent job at the US Open.  Not perfect, but keep it mind it was also a pretty big stage to more or less debut as an announcer.

Faldo and Azinger are good in tandem, very weak on their own.  Faldo tries too hard to be Peter Alliss with his inane comments but at least Alliss' jokes are funny.  I'm very surprised Faldo and Wadkins ranked so low on the 'least favourite' list....maybe Wadkins has improved in recent years since he was dull as dishwater on CBS

Miller to me is the best, but Faldo does a fine job as well. I think Dan Hicks is much better than Jim Nantz. And with David Feherty joining Maltbie and Rolfing on NBC and Verne Lundquist about to retire, meaning increasing time for guys like Ian Baker-Finch and Frank Nobilo (who put viewers to sleep), NBC is by far and away the best when it comes to coverage.

It will be interesting to see where Azinger winds up. He's too good not to do any events. I personally think Fox should dump Norman and go after Azinger, but not sure if they're willing to break that contract. I'm hoping NBC hires him on as a second analyst to go alongside Miller who is nearing retirement, but I think NBC is going to look at Duval or Feherty for the replacement role.

I like Faldo for two reasons: he's funny, and he doesn't speak in cliches.

I like Duval because he's thoughtful and comes up with original things to say.

Suprised Aliss didnt get more, but then i suppose they are due to send him to the commentator retirement home soon

I like Brandel Chamblee ----same rating as Curtis and DD(Duval) , Frank Nobilo (4 the place), Dottie (5th place, just behind Judy Rankin), and Roger Maltbie (3rd).  I cannot stand Kelly Tilghman (4th).  I cheered when Brandel put her down by stating the FACT that many of Tiger's problems were "self-inflicted".  She was SPEECHLESS!  She was a big-time apologist for the world's #400.

One other comment------I like Dottie and Judy Rankin. Judy is cool-headed, knowledgeable, and professional. Both of them were excellent players(do not forget that Dottie won two Majors---the Dinah Shore twice).  Also, she was the fiery leader of our Solheim Cup teams. Dottie learned her broadcasting lesson when she made the famous comment about SOME Americans being "choking dogs" for not finishing strongly. She learned to curb her natural intense spirit. NOT an easy thing to do!

Azinger refreshingly comes across as a normal guy who just happens to play golf - Faldo seems like he really enjoys his "Sir Nick" status a bit too much for my taste - its hard to listen to Norman as he seems so hard to be trying to be entertaining or insightful while his TV skills are just not there; he is a much better interview than an interviewer or reporter - Nantz is on the tube seemingly every Sunday year-round so outside of the Masters where he seems to change his voice from sportscaster to reverend he kind of disappears in the background as white noise - Miller seems to have mellowed a bit over the years (perhaps losing his own game a bit has made him a bit less critical) - Buck and Tirico just seem like fish out of water as they seem to try and want to bring their same football or basketball or baseball styles to golf (much like Vin Scully did when he tried golf on NBC long ago)
