I was going to say I'm curious to follow those guys that were permanent anchorers, specifically Tim Clark and Carl Petterson.  However, in 2015 while his magic stroke was still legal, Clark fell from 62 in the World Rankings to 151, so he's got bigger problems.  Carl Petterson held steady in the 170's.

I think David Hearn is another and he's at 119.

Best thing about this rule change is that some of those longer putters are going to wind up in the bargain bins. From there, some golf club tinkers will be ble to build some pretty nice "heavy" putters. The left over shafts can be used for some other clubs for expierimentation purposes. 

I use a 32" as it is. I had no problem with other folks using the longer stuff as long as they did not use them for drops. Yes it was legal. I just didn't like it.

I bought two shafts for <$10 each and made hiking poles for my wife and myself!

There you go. All kinds of possibilities awaits us. Me I prefer 6' hiking staffs, which of course I carve out myself. Another hobby.

It does, but if you've grown comfortable with your hands in roughly those positions, it probably seems like a good way to go… you know?

Yeah.  Not surprised they're trying it, but I might be a little surprised if they find much success with it.

I would tend to agree but he's been putting that way for a while and he's just accustomed to that length/feel. I think he was also experimenting with arm-anchored (Kuchar style) putter.

The rule is clearly and quite narrowly defined.

I have a broom stick putter. I anchored my left elbow and upper arm against my body. I was able to hold my forearm steady and putt the ball with a perfect pendulum motion side-saddle with no problem ending up within a foot of my target from 15 feet on my carpet with no practice at all. This looks like a winner winner chicken dinner.

I bought a Scotty Cameron Futura X counter balance Putter 38 inches in length and it works for me.
