My game is coming around nicely, to the point where I feel like I could be back to shooting in the low-90s again. I'm itching to get onto a regulation-length course for a round, but this is what the forecast is looking like near me:

image.png

With the exception of next Saturday and Sunday (which would be nearly impossible to find a tee time under regular circumstances), every day for the next two weeks is forecast with highs in the 90s, and extremely humid. The lows are "only" projected to be in the 70s, but 100% humidity sunrises may be even less comfortable than the midday heat!

Anyone else feeling the midsummer too-hot-to-do-anything blues a little early this year?

We play a lot in Thailand at temperatures like these or higher, and humidity way up there. Normally, we try to walk the course, but I have also had to give up on tee 10 and order a cart. The secret is to drink enough - we will typically drink about 4 litres during a round. There are no beer carts in Thailand, but they have kiosky every 4-5 holes, where you can buy food, drink and used golf balls(!) and have a seat. Asian golfers regularly let the folowing group play through before continuing, but I always feel you lose any rhythm you may have had in ther first place that way. We plan to retire there, so I gues we had better get used to it!

I have played few rounds this year in triple digits. 110*f is the hottest so far. One of the big plus things a person can do, when doing anything in the hot outdoors is start hydrating themselves the day before their event. Lots of water/juices the day before is a good start.

High temp golf can be done with proper preparation.

I agree except for the juice part. If you mean vegetable juice, that is fine but not high sugar fruit juice. Even if it say 100% fruit juice.

As for playing in hot temperatures, I don't like it but I rather have hot days where i can play over cold snowed out days.

It's NEVER too hot to golf. I don't care if it's playing, driving range, chipping or putting. Today It was sunny, 95 with a nice 7-9 mph breeze. The course was empty, love it!

As they like to say in your neck of the woods, "it's a dry heat". I can attest. I used to be in the fine wine business, and one time our sales staff toured the Napa Valley in mid August. It was at least 100* every day, and a couple of days got up to 110*. But at 25% humidity it was bearable. I can say that 90* and 80%+ humidity back home is much more uncomfortable.

That's a great tip about pre-hydrating. I first read about it from a Western author (in Colorado) who would hike into these deep, steep canyons in search of fine trout fishing. You may feel bloated at first, but you won't get thirsty nearly as fast, so you have to haul less water.

Yeah, I experienced the same thing here. What a delightful day! I did yard and garden work. I have league on Tuesday, and want to have all that work done so it's not on my mind when I'm trying to play.

I had thought about relocating after I retired but you guys are making me rethink my choice.    I can handle the early tee time tomorrow in mid-Michigan in the upper 50s and ending up in the low 70s.

95 is too hot? If it's over 105, it's probably too hot depending on wind and humidity. 95 is great golfing weather, imo.

I simply cannot play in hot and humid weather. For me it takes de fun out of the game. I like to walk and enjoy the course and I can't do that if I'm sweating like a pig.

Temps hit 92-94 in NE Ohio Saturday.  We teed off at 8:45 and finished up about 11:30 before it got too hot.

Living in NE Ohio, you will absolutely NEVER hear me complain about anything being too hot around here.  It's the 8-9 months a year that are TOO COLD to golf for me.
