Well last Thursday playing on the 12th hole, I hit a second shot to the green with my 7 wood from a steep sidehill lie - it landed on the green - but I felt a sharp twinge in my left knee that definitely didn't feel good. It didn't bother me the rest of the round, and I figured that well, it's just that knee being weird. I've had injuries with it and you know it does weird stuff. But that night my entire thigh hurt. Friday it felt fine. Saturday it felt fine. Sunday I did some light strengthening stuff and it felt fine. Then yesterday I turned a little and it hurt again. Today it hurts again. It's the tendon that connects one of the quad muscles to the knee. I palpated the area. I think I'm done for the season. These things take a couple months or longer to heal. I see my doctor on Friday for my shoulders and I'll ask her then, but I know the answer - no golf.

I hope you feel better and you get some golf in before the end of the good weather.

Your body doesn't seem able to handle your swing speed.  If you want to continue to play golf, you may need to change your swing so less strain is placed on your body.  It may result in shorter distances but at least you'll be able to play.

My right arm tennis elbow cleared up...

but... my left hip feels really tight and achy, and hurts when I try to flex a little to get into stance. My turn on backswing is really poor, and most full shots are hooks.

I may be guarding the 19th hole with @DrvFrShow for awhile.

And DFS, good luck!

I'll see what the doctor says on Friday. I know I'll be out at least a month. If I do come back this year it'll probably be only at the range where it's flat.

Or hopefully work back into it gradually after it heals enough.  Do you usually walk? If so, maybe ride a cart?  Nuts. It's not like it's late October.

Off topic, but when I read this, my first thought was that this advice should have been taken about 2 years ago by Tiger. :-(

Well here's to a speedy recovery, and getting back on the golf course. I too am nursing a shoulder issue, with 2-3 more weeks of no golf.

If it's any consolation I have also had some momentary knee pain. Went to the doc, and she told me it was time to start wearing a knee brace. Just normal wear and tear stuff, that now needs some extra support. Perhaps you will get some good news too.

    • My flop shots are 6-7° down (AoA). Does that answer it? 😄  The longer answer is… You have to be able to do both shots.
    • I hope you don't mind me raising this one from the dead. I got shortgamechef's video access thing for a few months in 2024. I watched his yip fix videos (the general gist is similar to the first video above, but with a lot more detail) and it made a lot of sense. I was working on it in my backyard off a mat for a while and my yippy thing was mostly gone. Aside from anything else, the flop shot using that technique is so easy and controllable. But I got onto a golf course for the first time of the year and found myself by the green on a downslope with the ball sitting down a little in the rough and I was, not to put too fine a point on it, f***ed. Shallow is all well and good from a good flat lie and I understand it, but you can't make that your be all and end all. I still don't know if it's a good idea to use steep all the time or just when you need to. I have a hard enough time with one technique, let alone too.  Just got a pitching skillest lesson with Erik and unless I misunderstood things some, he wants me a bit steeper. @iacas - where do you fall on the steep vs shallow argument and how do you vary it according to need?
