The Facts of Life Revealed

In the space-time continuum, not considering the effects of Special and General Theories of Relativity and quantum physics, I have simplified all that there is:

There is no past.

There is no future

There is only now.

Any other explanation would be impossible. The past does not exist in the present and if somehow you could go back in time to a “past” it would be your present or Now. The future has not yet occurred, therefore it does not exist. Likewise, if you could travel to the future, it would be likewise be your present. To extrapolate a bit, if you were to travel at the speed of light, time as we know it would simply be static. Considering this, it would point towards the idea of time travel an impossibilty. What we think of as time, is merely a representative of time rather than time itself. It has been proven for example, that the sunset you are viewing actually occurred 8 minutes ago. But did it? Remember, there is no past, only the present.

Armed with this revelation, I need not even consider ageing, or even death. I will always have my now. My corporal body would only be a representation of my existence on the physical plane. I will always BE. Death is a mere shadow of life. Life itself is indeterminate and at the same time infinite.

Nothing above contradicts theological beliefs which are no more than our feeble understanding of things not to be understood.

Pretty deep stuff. Now explain "deja vu" to me. I am now so confused except for that 8 minute sunset thing, and that piece of smoked, bacon wrapped turkey that was both baked and sampled, I guess in the past?:hmm:

There is no future but the now that is occurring will change the now will occur shortly. The bs that we call life, this game, that puts us in stress over a piece of paper, which also requires us to play the game, so that others play this game to provide essentials. These people that work to survive the game also take the paper and provide us with lush fairways and nice flat rolling short grass to enjoy our life necessity. Meaningless paper yet very meaningful.  We continue to play to into this reality to fortify the material needs.

Or whatever...

Oh, Jesus, don't try to pull that space/time continuum shit on a female. They'll claw your friggin' eyes out if you try that shit...better to just apologize...in advance, if you're really on the ball.

Woa, this is pretty deep for TST!. Feel like i've walked into a quantum physics convention! ;-)

Anyway, space/time continuum? I thought you werent supposed to mess with it in case you ran into a past/future version of yourself and bollocks'd your life up? Im sure we've all seen that well know documentary?...what was called....oh thats it Back to the Future :-P

Really, all that there is, is energy.  It is not created or destroyed but transferred from one form to another.  Time is merely a vessel from which we can understand movement.  What we see or hear is different than what is.  But we need time to understand what is, because of how light or sound transfers it's energy.

The recent post of someone watching the rocket take off in Florida but taking a few minutes or whatever to reach them.  Which version of energy transference is real? The sound you get or what you saw? Or neither?  Take it even further to the 8min for us to see the sun rise.  Is what we see real or was it simply time that allowed us to understand that transference of energy?  The billions of light-years away that those galaxies are at.  Is what we see now real or did light and time simply allow us to understand what happened?  Now and 8 billion years from now as one time, or no time?  Just a simple matter of energy and time giving us the falsehood of what is real.

@phillyk Isaac Asimov wrote a story a long time ago along these very lines. The gist of which was that humans kept evolving and evolving until the end, they became pure energy,  without form.  I write these things once in awhile (tongue-in-cheek),  as a means to encourage thought. People who think they know or understand something, should think again.  An authority on the subject would be the cartoon character Pogo.  "Life ain't nohow permanent". (or words to that effect).

    • Why wouldn't it have? It's not like you were playing it as a 145yd par 5 and made a 2 or something.  Or not like it was playing 50yds to a temporary green or something either.

    • I know you guys were discussing this like a year ago. But, ironically I just had this discussion with my brother-in-law. We literally just did one of these. I'd always used the "Slow-Cook, Rest, and Sear" Method. But my bother-in-law was convinced the "5-Min/lb, 500 degree" method was the way. So, we gave it a go. I have to say it came out great.  I have a 25 year old, electric oven, GE brand... Not sure if that matters, but it came out great. ... Of course we stressed that nobody was to open the oven.   I don't make these all that often so, I'm not sure if I can fully recommend one method or the other, because without doing a Pepsi Challenge, I'd say both ways come out great. 👍😁👍
