Funny, very little commentary on the gear Nike pro's now using

I keep waiting for somebody, anybody on TV to say what gear Tiger is using.   I saw a close up of his putter & it has a Ping grip on it.   

 

Same for Rory last time I saw him play ... I know he was using a Scotty putter, but no mention was made (at least that I heard) of any changes to his bag he's made since the announcement NIke quit making golf clubs. 

 

Almost seems there's some kind of agreement that commentators won't say anything about the Nike guys & gear they're changing to ... I find it annoying

You know if Tiger holds it together, I wouldn't be surprised to see Nike backpedal on that decision to leave the industry.

They just discussed Tiger going back to the putter he used for the majority of his Majors and how he switched back as soon as he could.  Doesn't say much for the quality of Nike putters since Rory and Tiger switched as quickly as they could.

They've talked quite a bit about his putter. 

It's very odd to me watching him using a Bridgestone ball. Way more odd than the TM woods.

They've mentioned his Scotty putter at least a dozen times in the past three days, and about how all the replicas were made of it and he didn't like any of them. There's no conspiracy. OP is annoyed at nothing.

Pretty sure they only thing they've done MORE frequently than mention that putter is put up that graphic that shows this to be his longest layoff from competitive golf (450 days or something).

Yep. The ball is weird. The driver, well, maybe because he's used so many different looking drivers through the years, but only two balls? And the new Bridgestones have a big B logo.

Doesn't surprise me. Read in more than one place that Nike golf equipment wasn't all it was cracked up to be! But this is by no means a new phenomenon. Back in the day Nicklaus played MacGregor clubs. He also played the MacGregor Tourney golf ball, which is one of the worst golf balls ever made! Other tour pros told him to dump it, but MacGregor was paying Nicklaus money to be their spokesman, and he was loyal.

Pros of his era have wondered how many more tournaments he might have won if he played a better ball!

I'm new here, but amazed. How do you guys not get into all kind of flame wars? All you guys are talking about is his putter. There are a helluva lot of other clubs in the bag. Sheesh. I thought OP had a good question.

Thanks for the answer that he's still using Nikes. They didn't talk about that!

And I doubt Nike is going to go back to golf. When a corporation gets so big it needs to "diversify," it means they aren't growing like they did, the shares aren't going up, and they get away from what they do well. Nike made shoes, and I suppose are still really good at that, and marketing.
