  1. 1. If you had to choose, would you rather be...

Inspired by a comment that @mchepp had in a different thread, it made me think of the type of golfer I would rather be.  He said he'd rather be consistent and boring like Zach Johnson rather than a bit wild and unpredictable like Phil.

Answer the poll given that the score/results would be the same.  Let's say that Zach and Phil have had the same amount of wins and majors and scoring average.  How would you rather achieve that?  Consistent and boring (Zach) or a bit wild and perhaps creative to get out of some situations (Phil)?

I'll post my own thought later in this thread.  I don't want to bias anyone and want you to think and respond how you feel.

Fairways and Greens.

Zach... gets the most out of his limited stature and limited distance game. And of course is more disciplined in playing within himself. All qualities I strive for. Also, personality wise Phil enjoys the attention has a knack for handling it. Not that I am shy but I wouldn't fit the bill.

Having said that, I root for Phil much more than ZJ.

I picked Phil just because, golf is an entertainment sport. I don't tune into golf to watch the same old consistent golf. I wanna see something crazy and creative and entertaining. The shots Phil hits sometimes are like beyond my imagination (because of my skill level). I enjoy watching him so I would want to be him to give other people the enjoyment he gives me.

Many of my friends say my game is boring, but I feel the need to thrill (mainly to myself) that I have the skills to play with better players at their level on occasions and sometimes it scares the hell out of them. :-D

Passionate. Phil once tried a risky shot that ALMOST made it but went into the water. He was asked why he didn't lay up. He said something like, "If I can't have fun in this game, I'll quit!"  Passionate. For the enjoyment of the game. -Marv

So you mostly want to be a jackass?  :-)

My vote was for Zach.  I have a fascination with repetition and consistency.  While I enjoy the Phil show from time to time I have a lot of respect for the great, consistent ball strikers on tour.  I think one of the best compliments you can receive on the course is, "Doesn't it get boring playing like that?"

Phil. I'm assuming that wild and creative has more distance off the tee, so I'm going with that one. Chicks dig the long ball.

When I'm playing well, I'm a lot like Zack...not too long, reasonably straight, simple and boring.  I'd like to be that guy more often.

    • I had a few tweeks in the bag. I took out my Mizuno pro FliHi 3 iron replaced it with a Titleist GT2 7 Wood. what a change that is, so easy to hit, it goes so high without it ballooning on me. I couldn't get rid of my callaway woods ( Rogue ST Max LS ) but changed the shafts to Diamana BB 63 stiff for the driver and 73 stiff for the 3 wood. Than i got myself a new putter Odyssey S2S jailbird yes i joined the centershaft family
    • First off all i think you should use the same ball all the time. We all strive for consistency on the course, the only factor you can be sure it will be always the same is your ball if you always use the same. So i think we should always use the same. I recently switched from Titleist Pro V1x to Srixon Z-Star Diamond because it i get a bit softer feel around the greens and same results on driver and irons
