The accuser talks about the offender using a long putter formerly so there are a limited number of possibilities. Personally, I doubt there is a person doing what the writer states.  The pros are not shrinking violets and would call him out.

Does silence in such a circumstance constitute an implicit agreement to waive the rules?  

I'm a little hesitant to believe stories based on "anonymous sources" -- while I acknowledge they've been important in the past (many of us remember giggling at least once in high school U.S. history class), I suspect a larger number are either clickbait (or print equivalent) or fueled the author's imagination or point of view rather than being actual anonymous sources.

I dont know it is so fake, the guy says he played in one Masters... Been on tour a long time and recently had an argument with the accused and would not sign his card at the end of the round.. He is putting all the hints out there, just needs released.. it will come...

I agree. If we don't know who the cheater is, it means the players and/or the PGA Tour are allowing a cheater to not suffer the consequences.

So what do you think the reaction would have been to an LPGA player who called Lexi Thomson a cheat before her "controversial" penalty a while back? All of the sycophants and enablers would have been outraged at the slur. Because she's young, attractive, a good player with the ability to break the Asian stranglehold on the LPGA Tour and an American.

Even the fact the Lexi T. is clearly a cheat is not enough for the majority of fans and commentators, it would seem.

That is why the player in question on the PGA Tour has not been identified.

It's definitely not JJ Henry. In John Feinstein's Tales from Q-School, Feinstein relays a story about Henry calling a penalty on a sponsors exempt player at the Buick Open in the early 2000s, some kid named Colby Beckstrom:

Given the way Henry is documented to have handled this situation, it seems highly unlikely he is this notorious cheater in question.

Here's the thing, in my mind -

If any of these pros know who the player is & have been the cheating player's marker in a tournament, then signed the cheater's scorecard, then they are cheaters too. That's the whole idea of being the marker - to protect the field. They failed to do so & enabled the cheating.

So you better name names, or you're complicit.

I'm not sure I can believe this story.  The claim is that everyone knows who the cheater is and won't even eat with the guy but no one will report him because "karma"?  

If it's true, why don't they report him?  Are they all guilty of fudging rules and don't want it to come to light?  Are there no honest golfers on Tour?

If it's false, I can totally see why it would be written; this is the kind of juicy dirt that gets everyone riled up.  I honestly wouldn't be surprised if "Anonymous Tour Pro" was just a writer making crap up.

I think he is trying to report him with this article. Honestly, unless you catch him red handed, and have it documented several times on films, he will never do it again and your name will be MUD for reporting (what may or may not have happened). We hear many times of the guy or girls that told, then they end up the victim because the accused never gets punished (lack of evidence).  

Imagine Golfer A turns him in, they then ask each other golfer if they know of this. All will say, no, because they dont want linked to it. Defamation law suit comes out and because you were the good guy, you go to court... Today's world...

The article will stop the guy too, or should once he hears about it, remembers the confrontation...
