I think the reports of the course not being good are over-rated. I think it has some really good holes, and the site forced some really not great holes on there, too.

I haven't watched a ton, but I've actually liked what I've seen of the course. @skydog made a good point about courses for match play, and it does feel like it's pretty good for match play. Not sure I'd want to play the course myself, but it seems a lot better than I expected.

I'm looking forward to few of these match ups today. Fowler and Thomas vs Oosthuizen and Grace. See if the Fowler and Thomas  can keep their mojo vs a machine for the internationals. Then we get the long ball hitters in DJ and Brooks. It should be fun morning either way.

Yeah and hopefully the ‘throw him a bone Mickelson’ selection will get on board today.

Very impressed by team USA, certainly building a good roster for future Ryder Cups with the obvious Spieth and Reed, but also Keopka and Johnson, Thomas and Fowler.  Good playing today.  Good golf.

It's a shame but this event is going to approach full blown irrelevance in the future if this keeps up. I'm still of the mindset that even a bad team match play event is better than a solid stroke play tourney but there's not much hope that this will be a compelling event anytime soon.

I'm somewhat curious why, it's not like they lack talent.  Theres plenty of talent on the international team.  I almost think it's just that it plays such a huge second fiddle to the Ryder Cup

It is. The Presidents Cup doesn't have the Euros, just like the Solheim doesn't have the Asians.

It is and always will play second fiddle to the RC and that's fine. But beyond that the event has suffered from lopsided competition like we're seeing this week. If this keeps up for the next few years (which I think it will given the young deep talent pool in the US), I don't know how the tour can really continue on its current path for the event.

The international team pales in talent compared to the US squad. (Avg world rank of 15 vs 30). This isn't is a dig at the internationals, just a testament to how stacked the US team is and will likely continue to be.

Every time I started to watch the coverage, I've seen bad shots.  Everyone was in a bunker or missing tee shots.

But, it's definitely leaning heavily toward red side right now.  I'm sensing it's predicting the future to happen, oh say, in about 19 days ;-) (knock on wood)

Happy for the U.S., but disappointed that this thing is such a blowout. Makes it a bit unwatchable. It's too bad because the President's Cup plays a big second fiddle to the Ryder Cup and this isn't helping it any.

Would like to see a Cup where you bring all 3 together--USA, Europe and International. Would have to come up with a format but I think it would be pretty cool.

True, this has been pretty much a butt whupping, but the RC was that way for a long time! A real ho hum event until they changed the rules to where it was GB & Ireland & the continent. Suddenly the Euros win and everybody's interested!

It was the same for the America's Cup (yacht racing), nobody had heard of it until the Aussie's won!

As for the course, I kind of dig it. I especially love that dinky, little par 3, 10th hole, and the short par 4 12th. Interesting to see how such short holes can confound the best players in the world. Of course the wind helped!

I'm watching because I just love match play, especially team games, especially Foursomes! Whoever thought that up was a doggone genius! It could also be known as "Screw Your Partner"!

This is nuts...a rule is a rule I guess but I don't know how many times I've done this before.  I'll make sure not to during the Newport Cup!

Don't intentionally deflect or stop an opponent's ball while it's still moving.

Pretty straightforward.

A rule is a rule.

But doesn't change the outcome of the hole. Rules needs to be update and amended to keep the game fair to the players.

So, thru the first 3 days of play the USA was only 1 point shy of the points needed to win the Cup. What if that one match had gone to the USA, giving them enough points to claim the cup? Would they just cancel the Sunday singles matches?

Curious if the powers that control the Prez Cup/Ryder Cup pay compensation to the caddies for the week....or is this solely on each player?

Anyone know?  TIA

I would assume it's the player.  Caddies are hired by the player, not by the tournament that week or the tour.
