Concur... With this venue change, they should change the name from the WGC...to "The Open Borders Open"...

this isn't funny.

Really enjoy this venue. Beautiful place, with some really interesting shots being played. The elevation change does some cool things.

As anyone would guess the leader after 2 rounds is a 21 yr old from India - Shubhanker Sharma. Everyone who has heard of him raise your hand. He's shot 65-66 (-11); 2 shots clear of Sergio & Cabrera Bello, 4 shots ahead of Oosthuizen, D.J., and Bubba, and 5 shots ahead of Spieth and Mickelson. If Sharma can somehow complete this victory it would be an incredible (cue Carl Spackler) Cinderella story. I love golf.

You're right...I'm so ashamed. But,....the WGC move to mexico from Doral just because Trump was elected speaks volumes.

Nobody brought politics into this thread until you did. We’re talking golf, all of us are trying to be civil. Keep it to golf, or don’t comment.

Nobody is more of political person than me, but this isn’t the place.

It's not getting talked about much, understandably considering the buzz around Tiger, but Phil is playing some remarkably solid golf this year. I don't want to jinx it, but the stars could be aligning for an epic Masters if Tiger and Phil could both manage to be in the hunt.

Greetings ...

The potential rewards on Sunday for current WGC Mexico leader  Shubhankar Sharma

Solo 2nd Place -- Enough Fed Ex Points to apply for Special Temporary Status, allowing for unlimited sponsor invites and Top-10+Ties exemptions.

WINNING -- Can join the PGA Tour and be exempt for most events thru the end of the 2020-21 season. Would automaticly be in the Masters, Players, Open Championship, PGA Championship and official stroke play WGC events in 2018. May reach Top 64 on World Golf Ranking List, making him eligible for Dell Match Play. Staying among Top 60 in the World Golf Rankings would earn spot in 2018 US Open.

One catch (somebody check me on this) -- because the win would occur in a WGC event -AND- because Sharma is a non-regular PGA Tour member, the 550 Fed Ex Points would not apply, so he'd be starting his PGA Tour career with zero points.

Thanx-A-Lot and Enjoy the Final 18!

I'm loving Sharma, his game is really solid & he's totally outplaying top players in the world - DJ, Spieth, Mickelson, Justin Thomas, Sergio, Bubba, Oosty. Underdogs make great sports memories, hope this ends up being another one. So far, this is really an entertaining tourney to watch.

David Duval just said the golf course is effectively a 6,243 yard course.

Dustin Johnson shot -14 to win last year. This year, with more familiarity, it should be a bit lower.

But they're still not shooting -25, probably.

Considering they are at neaarly 8,000 feet of altitude, the aire starets getting pretty thin up that high. The telecast also mentioned that the golfers who like to shape their shots are noticing not as much "shape" as they'ir used to. This is probably playing havoc with Bubba's game. "Good karma" Sharma hung tough toward the end. Clutch par putt on 18. He'll be in a reall pressure cooker tomorrow playing with Phil.

He has for 3 rounds but they are lurking. I expect him to fold up like a cheap tent tomorrow.

I certainly hope not. He seems oblivious to the huge stage; all the great players around him & all the pressure.

Only thing IMO is that he doesn't seem that he is oblivious as much as he is actually handling the pressure. He is young and all, and is on the 'world' stage, but dude is leading the European order of merit with a couple of wins already. So not exactly a nobody turned into somebody overnight.

That's not 15%. 17-18% of 228 + 228 is 268ish. Truthiness. Not so sure I'd want this guy giving me yardages? Or if this is how good at math caddies typically are that explains why some are misclubbing.

Also nice to see players of Indian descent doing well. Suri on the European Tour and Sharma.

I'm not quite sure why the caddie calculated the numbers like he did but if you took 15% from each distance, his calculations are correct.   I would think that he would have wanted to add 15% to the distances which would have resulted in a different number.

15 percent is a rough estimate. Now air temp, pressure, humidity all effect it too. There was no math just hitting on tracks for that day. He may have wrote down 15 percent but that doesn't mean that is exactly what it is.
