Thank goodness Tiger is entered this week at Bay Hill. The course I live on holds a "Monday After the Masters" one day event every year. Take Tiger out of the mix, and we get a similar field every year.

I think maybe Tiger and Arnie bonded over their womanizing.-Not that I care just that they have that in common.

Yea I'm indifferent to what either did off the course with regards to that kind of stuff. Both of them did more for the game than anyone else so it's a bit sad to me that more players don't show up this week out of respect for Arnie...but I know that's a product of the condensed schedule and that there are two WGC events in March.

I have no idea what % of golfers in this country it would be, but my guess is the vast majority of us can trace the reason (direct or indirect) we play golf to either Arnie or Tiger...or both. For me, I got into the game from my father who very much got into the game because of Arnie. I would guess a similar story line is true for most of us here.

Arnold's impact cannot be overstated and I think it's a shame more of the young guys are skipping his tournament now. I wonder if they would ever try moving the Palmer event to a better spot in the schedule. Either that or they should move one of the WGC's. Why do we need two WGC's in the same month?

Assuming he makes the cut, would this be the first time Tiger plays 72-holes in back-to-back weeks since his return?

I would have to say Tiger one of the favorites. Especially since the overall field looks pretty weak. Aside from getting a little quick at times yesterday, he swing the club better than I've seen him swing it in a very long time last week. Probably in a decade. But I'm not ready to take Tiger vs the field like the way everyone used to back in the day. He might not even make the cut at Bay Hill for all of we know. Lot of unknowns with Tiger, still.

How horrid.

Of course he's one of the favorites.

He's Tiger.
He's the GOAT.
He finished T9 at Hero.
He finished T23 at Farmers.
He missed the cut at Genesis.
He finished 12 at Honda.
He finished T2 at Valspar.
He's healthy.
He's won at Bay Hill eight times.

Just give me what I want - Tiger and Rory in the final group with a huge lead over everyone else.

Both playing at their best for one round.

is that really too much to ask for

(oh - and tickets to the event and up front reserved locations to follow them....and a nice steak)

Rory hasn't been at his best in a while… not in the U.S. anyway.

Yeah - I'm a big fan and not really impressed for a long while now......but one can hope.

(And if my scenario would happen at a major.....bonus)

After looking at the link you sent showing the field, I'll be honest. There isn't anyone there I can make any strong case for. Tiger has as good a shot of winning as anyone, and a lot better chance then almost all these guys. I'm shocked at how weak this field is. Take out Tiger, Rory, Reed, Rickie, and Fleetwood, and you have nothing but a bunch of Lumpys, Smylies, Goydos' Yuck!

After looking at this field, I owe Skydog an apology, and have to admit, If I had to make one, there is nobody I would bet on over Tiger next week.

I don't think it's that bad - there's also Day, Rose, Hatton, Fitzpatrick in there. It's not often all the stars will be in a non major.

I can see Tiger being the favourite here for reasons mentioned, although I like what I've seen from Rose lately (other than a sloppy finish on Sunday) and at slightly better odds he'd be my pick.

I'll take a Rickie/Tiger final pairing on Sunday. I would love to see a Tiger-Rory duel  but at the rate he's going, Rory will be lucky to even be around on the weekend.

Rose is playing some solid golf, I would expect him to be in the mix this weekend.

Excited for this tournament. It will be fun to see what Tiger can do at a place he dominates. I am guessing he will finish Top 10, but man a win would be so cool.

    • Day 206 3-11 Focused on wider backswing and reconnecting arm in downswing. Wasn't really happy with how swing was looking today. Wider backswing is very different for me. Went back to do a some longer pauses at the top. Hit a few foam balls.
    • This is an awesome breakdown. most of the bigger tournaments usually have one wave with the advantage, Thank you for the breakdown. If it is soft then it will be a lower final score
    • Over the past 15 years, the winning score has ranged from -10 to -20. Mostly around -13.  Here is Thursday and Friday weather. Saturday and Sunday weather. I think the course will play soft. Plenty of sky cover, lots of rain on Thursday. Fairways and greens will probably stay soft throughout the week.  In terms of tee times, I think Thursday morning and Friday afternoon have the biggest advantage. • We have a very difficult but mostly showy course this week. Lets see what they got. This course offers so many chances to get into trouble it is really a mental minefield. I am excited to see who can handle it and who cant. Last year we got a foreshadowing of JJ and Rory, I am excited for this year Who do people have winning? what will the winning score be? I am thinking 12 or 13 under
