Isn't there always some guy named Harding on day 1?

It’s how Tommy Hilfiger got famous. Just stuck his name brand on a billboard with already big names.....famous by association .  Hopefully he won’t collapse too bad. He will, but hopefully not in an epic way.

I could see Koepka ending up with 20-25 total career wins and 12 of those being majors. Just seems to crank it up 10 notches every time a major comes around. The rest of the tournaments he lolleygags around.

Not sure. The wind seems to be picking up a bit. I think the lead is going to be at -3, maybe -4. A lot of people in contention.

Nice call.

Geez all of a sudden these guys are tearing this course up. Tiger keeps sliding down the leaderboard and more strokes back.

This is exactly what Ridley was referring to the other day how distance is changing the game far too much, the USGA and R&A have to do something. Koepka by no fault of his own is clearly at an advantage over a large portion of the field, the ball needs to be designed to require more skill than just sheer power.

The big names up there I could see someone getting to -10 by the time Tiger tees off tomorrow. Too much talent up there.

If Reed and Poulter were to win the tournament in consecutive years, I think the Masters may need to be cancelled.

I leave work and the leaders are -3, run a couple of errands, and I get home to -6. What an afternoon.

I keep telling my buddy that his pick (Rory) is currently tied with 61 year old Sandy Lyle. Good fun.

Problem is with the rain expected to start tomorrow and continue through Sunday, it will keep this course soft. That will play right into the hands of Koepka and DJ who will just bomb it out there and throw darts at the hole. Not how I like to see Augusta play. I think we all like it when it’s firm and fast.

Is it just me or does Augusta National seem to have lost a few teeth?

I don’t think so. It wasn’t until the afternoon where the wind calmed and the greens were still pretty soft that the scores got fairly deep (-6). Fleetwood and Fowler both thought the course was difficult. Throw in some poor weather and devious pin placements I think it’s show it’s teeth pretty well.

Maybe it's familiarity.  Everybody seems to know (players and viewers) exactly where, and where not, to be.  You see a lot of shots played to the same places...that you have seen for decades.  It'a a lot like the Player's in that respect.  Then again...it's one round and there's weather coming.  Could be I'm just impatient.

At the WGC matchplay Tiger was hitting his driver almost lazy and with a perfect swing. Yesterday at -3 and beeing in contention, his driver swing got erratic again. To my opinion that’s his biggest problem, not the putting.

    • Day 10: 2/16/2025 Just like yesterday I spent several 5-10 minute sessions working on what I learned on Friday.  My new priority pieces.
    • Day 26 (16 Feb 25) - Basically a repeat of yesterday- only it was a bit more expanded chips/pitches - 7i, 9i, 50° and 58°.   Big exception was I was hitting groups of 5 one club at a time.  Focused on a specific target point - and coming smoothly through the ball, not punchy.  Got it right about 3 out of 5 - more work needed.
    • You probably haven't turned much and instead have just pulled your left arm across your chest.
    • Things didn’t work out with the cutting horse barn my wife was working for there in Virginia. Their Texas facility we were supposed to move down to ended up delayed for at least an extra year after they’d had us leave Virginia to meet them down there “shortly”. So we ended up getting some land by her family in Missouri and building a house of our own down here instead. Not as many courses, but there is one 5 minutes from the house that’s only $62/mo for both of us to be members at and other nicer ones within a reasonable drive as well.    @Rick_D I’ll try to remember to let you know when I’m heading up that direction. It may happen more frequently in the coming year since a dealer for a business I started recently is based out of St Charles so making deliveries myself might be more economical than shipping.
    • I don’t know why my swing got so vertical there. That wasn’t normal.    What did you mean by point 3? I get the hip turn portion.
