Mine is when people hammer their tee into the ground of the tee boxes.  I mean really take you darn tee out of the ground....

The 2 tee ball guy. Or group. It drives me nuts when the group in front of me thinks it is ok to hit a 2nd ball because they don't like the 1st.

Lazy marshals that do nothing but drive around and ball hawk. Actually, hate ball hawks too. I have a friend that will pick up any ball he finds. More than once the owner from up the fairway or over one has come looking. Do not touch a ball that could in any way be in play, please!

Oblivious slow players that don't let faster players through

Yes, this. I hate people who go "I don't see the group behind us, we can take our time". I don't want to rush, but is have a wife and 2 kids at home who would like to see me. 5 hours with no one in front is annoying.

I can think of a few.

1) Poor golf cart management.  They don't drop the other player off at the right spot, and park at the wrong place around the green.

2) Elephants putting spike marks around the hole.  Hey, fatbody.  Fix your spike marks if you can't lay off the bacon cheeseburgers.

3) When the group in front of you somehow manages to not put the pin in correctly for half the holes in a round.

4) Don't yell fore.  YELL FORE.  And yell immediately.  Not when the ball is on it's way down and within a second and half of drilling some poor bastard.

5) Hey, sometimes you fall behind.  Three guys in your group had an awful hole.  I get it.  Now catch up.

6). Make sure your $5 Nassau is the more important thing in the universe by going over every shot, before and after the swing, for your partner. And the other team does the same. Used to golf with people on weekday mornings and teeing off by 8:15 wouldn't ensure I was done by 1pm for work. 7). Telling me if I keep working at my game, I'll get better. When I a beating you by 4 strokes a side...

1) People who don't fix ball marks on the greens. Want me to play faster, FIX THE BALL MARKS SO I DON'T HAVE TO. Cause I will fix any ball mark in my line.

2) Golfers who use chewing tobacco and spit on the green.

3) Not playing ready golf

4) Not yelling FORE!!!!

5) Hitting into the group in front of you because you think they are moving too slow.

6) Ball hawking in the course of play. I don't mind taking a few balls from the OB, or water. Don't pick up a ball that is in the middle of the fairway or rough.

And divots.  Where I play there are a lot of forced landing areas because the fairways narrow up.   So that means a lot of areas with a ton of divots and I'd say I hit one, once every couple of rounds.   Seeing huge tracts of land ten feet in front of an unfilled divot is just idiocy.   We have 2 sand containers on every cart and the ground is kept nice enough usually to not shatter divots all over the place.

1. Looking for a ball for too long.  If you can't find it after a few minutes, just give up and drop.

2.   Not paying attention to the groups ahead and behind.  Keep up with the group ahead of you, don't hold up the group behind you.

3. Taking the game too seriously.  If you're a beginner or don't get to play very often, don't worry about high scores and bad shots, it will happen regardless.  People take a long time to line up a putt or shot when they'll miss it by a mile regardless.  It's ok to be bad, just be aware of it and try to have fun and not hold other people up.

4.  Swinging the exact same way for every single shot, and not hitting one good shot.  You just swung exactly the same way the past 50 shots and hardly made contact on most of them, why do you think it will work this time?

5.  Rudeness.

6.  Drinking too much.

7.  If you can't play fast, at least be aware that you're slow and act accordingly.  Let people play through, maybe skip a hole, etc.

8.  Following the rules too closely.  If you're not playing for money, or in a tournament (ie. just a practice round) you're allowed to do whatever you want.

Even with all my gripes, I still very much enjoy playing almost all the time.  I'm also joining a private club this year, so I hope I won't have to worry about some of these things as much.

Picking up balls they know are not theirs.

Got teamed up with a couple of "older" ladies Monday, and one of them went to a ball they thought was theirs. They realized it wasn't, and was obviously intending to pick it up. My playing partner pointed out that it was likely an errant tee shot from the hole next to ours, but she pocketed it anyway. Big surprise when that group started looking for a ball in the area she picked it up. Yup, it was his, and he handled it WAAAAYYY better than I would have.

If you find a ball that you know isn't yours, LEAVE IT THERE!!!!!!

Mr. (or Mrs.) "I have to remember every lesson and take a practice swing for each swing thought" person who proceeds to clank a dribbler. THEN goes back to the cart because they are now one club closer, so it's time for another 50 practice swings and another dribbler, another club change, etc... Oh, and "I'm taking my time on this 1 foot putt and have to eyeball it from all sides because it might cost me a quarter if I miss" guy.

People who mark and line up short putts when playing a casual weeekend round with buddies. If you're a fast player and good ball striker, I'm ok with spending a little extra time on the greens (if there's no one waiting on you) but if you're some hacker slowing down the pace of play, just be thankful you even made it to the green and get out of there.

People who continuously shuffle their feet on the green, leaving scuff marks.  One can't repair the marks until after one putts out and it is not unusual to find the hole completely circled in scuff marks.

Since the question was biggest I will stop here.

It's not just one thing. My experience is the "bad" golfers don't have one flaw, they are inconsiderate and ignorant in everything they do. The obnoxious golfer that hacks the range to bits destroying that stall until they move the markers is probably slow on the course and spitting sunflower seeds everywhere. It's a personality disorder.

    • Day 76 - Pretty sore today, so I opted for putting over my Stack session. Primary focus was on starting line, as my putting has been pretty poor this year.
    • Been a bit of delay in updates but I needed to come back east as my mom's health has taken a serious turn for the worse. In a 3 day span we learned she had a tumor to she has stage 4 cancer and stopped eating and drinking for the most part. She has had a rough 3 months but certainly didn't think we'd be at the point of setting up hospice for her. My mom was never into any sports really other than following the Red Sox because my dad was a big fan. She always cared about what we were involved in including asking about how golf went.  I have kept up with my 5 minutes of daily practice and will go to the gym here in NH tomorrow morning. Despite the somber nature of this trip my family has commented more than a few times about my weight loss so it's important to me to keep it up. I know my mom always wanted us happy in whatever we did so I'll continue with my fitness journey keeping that in mind.
    • Day 109- Putting drills on a putting green for 20 minutes.
    • Day 252: did a stack session. Did some slow rehearsal swings during breaks.
    • Day 82: 3/18/24 Tried a Stack session but could not certify my warmup. Finished with indoor chips and putting.
