A little cool and a few drops falling. Played forward tees (5578).
Score 87, 10 penalties mainly on back 9 due to fatigue, mainly from sending a few swimming. 8 Par, 5 bogies, 5 doubles. 64% Fairways, 5 GIR.
Good solid drives and short irons today. Penalties were a result to simply over swinging.
I played Normandy Shores few years ago on a trip with wife and another couple. Nothing of great note but I thought was nice. Bit overpriced at $135 + $50 for club rentals, but I think that's a typical tourist rate for golf in the area for decent courses. I was told very comparable to Miami Beach club.
Have been really focusing on my centered pivot piece and am starting to see pretty solid results. The two things that have helped the most are flaring out my front foot/not letting my knee collapse inward towards my right leg, and feeling like every swing stops when I'm at left arm parallel and the club is vertical. In reality the knee still moves down/in a little bit and the club still goes most of the way back, but centered pivot and strike have improved greatly. My head movement has decreased significantly compared to like 6-12 months ago, on most swings it doesn't go forward of its' starting position at all.
Will start adding in the increased rotation piece that I worked on in my last lesson as well, and have started the Superspeed training again, would like to get my clubhead speed from 110 to 115 and would love to see some 170 ball speeds in a couple months.
I have noticed that when I try to do a ton of rotation and opening my chest more through impact, the clubface tends to get very closed so it results in a lot of overdraws/hooks mainly with the irons. I'm sure my instructor can tell me why that is happening but was just wondering if that is a common thing and if anyone else has experienced that before?
When this happens to me, when playing alone and practicing, I'll gladly welcome the joining player. But I always give them a chance to back out when I tell them I'm essentially practicing and I'm hitting a few balls on almost every shot. Usually they join in on the silliness and we still strictly keep pace with the group in front.
8 Dec in Iowa... It was in the mid 40s.... Light wind. Today(the 9th) it's snowing now with temps the next couple weeks in the 20s & 30s. We're pretty much finally at the end of the year.
Ended up playing 36. 91 and 91... that's rare...…. Especially for me.. LOL Been struggling with my driver the 1st 18 and finally figured a couple things out towards the end of the 2nd 18...… Of course at the end of play...LOL Hopefully I can remember it in the spring.
