Don’t hit it in the hole.

I remember you tried that once and still only made par 😉

Wait a minute! According to your info your HI is 12.4, and you've never broken 80? You must be spectacularly consistent, or breaking 80 would have happened a couple of times by accident!

He probably plays at a difficult golf course in NJ, we have a handful of courses with slopes over 140 and ratings over 74.  A 12.4 index wouldn't break 80 on such a course.    A scratch would do well to break 80 from the tips at Pine Valley or a couple others.

The Golf Gods just blackened the eyes of all golf watching fans!   dang!

It's a bummer. Hopefully I will be playing this weekend, and with any luck, the courses won't be as croweded and I can get in 36 each day.

Last week I was 'bragging' about my best round ever.  I should NOT have done that.  Last Friday I played around and it was a disaster.  By the 8th hole I stopped keeping score.  WTF???

One of those unwritten rules of golf. The gods don't like it when you brag about what they let you do. Offer a sacrifice, learn from your mistake and move on.

I no longer believe in the golf gods. I’ve made many offerings of brand new golf balls at their altar and still I have yet to break 80.

We have a golf god that lives in a creek. He (She?) demands a sacrifice of 2 balls for every 9 hole round. Usually at holes 2 and 6.

Not too long ago, I was bragging that I hit my best score ever; an 81.  The next time out was a disaster. Such a disaster that I stopped keeping score around hole 7 or 8.  It seems I had offended the Golf God's by my bragging. Most people would have learned their lesson, don't you think?  Well, it seems I didn't! LOL. Last Friday I played a casual round with a good friend at one of the courses around here that is still open and I hit a 79!!!  I was elated. I realize that for many of you a 79 is nothing, but for me it was a major accomplishment. Having learned my lesson, I thought, from the last time, I did not brag.  However I was 'bragging in my heart' LOL. It seems the Golf God's noticed….Today I played with another group of friends, and just KNOWING in my heart that I am going to be awesome….WRONG!  The front nine was an utter disaster; it was embarrassing. It wasn't until after hole nine, where I made a sacrifice of a really nice ball into the water hazard in front of the green, did things turn around.  The front nine I really do not want to remember. The back nine saved my arse. Praise be to the Golf Gods.

Phedrick... I think your experience(s) are almost universal.  Years ago I'd shoot a great round, with great feel and consistency... I just knew I had arrived, that I had achieved a new level, that I had it all figured out.  Two days later I'd go out, full of enthusiasm for my newfound game, and play awful.

As we progress in this game it is not a one-way door.  Death, taxes and going backwards in golf... all universal truths.

Now, years later all I can say is that my good and bad days/scores stay closer to my mean.  I think that is all you can expect.

One of these topics is enough, @phedrick.

I also don't know how much of that is the "golf gods" and how much of it is just normal fluctuations of a golf game that could use some work.

It's not offensive at all, and I don't know why you'd say that.

It's just forum moderating: you don't need to start three similar topics, particularly when they don't even get > 1 page of replies.

    • Day  3 (4 May 24) - Easy pitch day with 9i in the backyard.  Worked on staying smooth thru impact, keeping shots to 20yds or less.
    • From what I’ve read, it was in the manufacturing process and how the covers were nicking pretty easy.  He has had to resource his factory as the one used earlier is now a TM owned facility.  Initial reports seem to indicate the redesign is going to be a winner…
    • Day 129: 5/4/24 Stack training but could not certify my warmup speed. Dealing with a pulled neck muscle. Chips and pitches at a local course for about 15 minutes.
    • Typically less than 50. I find this can be affected by the "CART" signs on a given course. I don't like taking my rangefinder out of the cart and carrying it around to the green. I am very fearful I will leave it somewhere.
    • First ever holed out greenside bunker shot! It's crazy it took this long to finally get one during a round, but the cold streak is officially over. Hole 6 on the Palmer Course at PGAN. I hit my driver like 225 into a really stiff wind, then worm burned a hybrid into the bunker. I was about I dunno, 40-45 feet away. Birdie! Let's go! The red Xs the approximate location of each shot.  Really fun!!
