Finally birdied #9. It was one of those "boring" birdies on a par 5; Pulled drive to right rough, good lay up to fairway 50 yards short of the green, 60° to 12' and a good putt to make it a nice 4.  Yes!

In the bag: Callaway Mavrik SZ 10,5 driver (X stiff), Cobra King 4 wood (Stiff, 2006 model), Callaway Mavrik irons 4 - P+A (stiff), Cobra King Pur wedges 52, 56 and 60 (stiff) and Odessey white steel putter.  Very happy with the set and the gapping.

I had a good weekend, added birdies on three par-3 holes, #4, 6, and 13.

WOW! Nice work, brother!

I added number 9 tonight at golf league. Tugged the drive way way WAY to the left. It was actually left of the 10th teebox. Hit a hooking stinger hybrid under the trees that skidded and rolled all the way off the back of the green. Then I chipped in for birdie with my 60 degree.

A very non-standard birdie, but a birdie none-the-less. I will say the hooked stinger hybrid was a thing of beauty.

I felt a smidgen of redemption. Last time I played number 9, I hit a beautiful drive leaving a sand-wedge approach which I stuck to about 6 feet. Then missed the putt. It actually rolled way past and I three-putted for bogie. So, getting the birdie on the short chip shot felt even better.

I played early this morning. 6:15 tee-time. Me and one other guy. We got done well before 9AM. Made a birdie on number 3. Amazingly I chipped in again. Two chip ins for birdie within 24 hours. Had two other really good chances for birdie. Missed pretty easy putts on 11 and 14. Number 14 I three putted for bogey, I was less than 6 feet away. I hit it way too hard and had a 6 footer coming back up the hill. I had 3 other GIR's, but none of them were within makeable range. Those were all around 18 to 25 footers.

Got my first eagle in about 4 years (the last one was a hole in one)!

It was on a 510 yards par 5, I was left with a 61 yards pitch to a back pin, landed it at the front of the green, the ball started rolling like a putt, took the break towards the hole, hit the flag and went down. That was nice to see.

Finally played after 2 months off thanks to a lockdown here in Bangalore.  Good ending. Par, birdie, par and par. Another course and not my home course, but still fun. A drivable par 4 if you take the tiger line. Across a water body and I played conservatively. Didn't catch my driver clean but still cleared the water. A decent second put me on the green and the putt rolled in from 10 to 15 feet

Hole 1.  Heavy rains the last few days. Temporary water everywhere.  (Off topic, but why do I always feel like that's really just a euphemism for Bud Light?) But a nice approach from soggy rough on the first hole left me with a 7-ish foot putt. (par 5 hole)

6 done. 12 left to go this year.

Had good chances on multiple "new" holes yesterday. 12 foot on #3 missed, 18 foot on #11 missed and 12 foot on #14 missed. 15 foot for eagle on #18 missed. Got 3 nice "old" ones on #10, #15 and #18 though. A great round of golf. 🙂

What’s there to miss? Par 5 hole. Two sloppy driver/fairway wood shots, nice approach, decent 1 putt for birdie.

Substandard for many people, but got me my birdie for the year on this hole, and I’m happy to have it.

I thought I’d make the same table but for hitting a shank on every hole. But then I realized I’d complete that in one round.

I played the back nine today for what I think is the fourth serious time this year. I've played the front nine probably 20 times. It just stinks to make the turn in 1:30 or 1:40 and then see three groups on the tenth hole.

But anyway…

I used the front nine to practice. I got a little too deep in the process, and so it took me a few holes on the back nine to get back to "playing golf" again, but when I did, I hit a great tee shot and second shot on 15 (which I'd already birdied).

16 is a short par four, but a tough birdie. I hit a good driver to just near the greenside bunker, and chipped it to about ten feet below the hole. It was always in.

On 17 I hit a great tee shot, and a very good sand wedge (new Edel SMS wedge), to about 12 feet over the flag, and slipped the left-breaking putt in the low half of the hole.

Knocked off two more! I have four left on the back nine, and so I have four left total. 10 and 11 (par four and three), and then 14 (par three) and 18 (par four). The par threes almost give me the biggest pause, and #10 is 450 yards.

Played Lake Chabot today (visiting in-laws).  83. Two birdies to add to the Away Course Composite: 16 and 18.  18 is a par-6. 😄 Lots of fun!  ...hope I can make time for one more round before I leave - maybe at Tilden?...

Hole 17. Missed the green with approach shot. Chipped on and it rolllllllled so nicely and deliberately to the hole, and dropped.

Not the first birdie for this hole this year, but nice to watch.

    • Day 233 (22 Dec 24) - Very late afternoon session (after watching the PNC finish - much more entertaining than the Showdown) with the 50deg, hitting nippy low flighted chips.  Really focused on foot position and keeping swing smooth.   As light was fading fast and temps were heading south of freezing, session was pretty abbreviated.
    • Tiger’s walking at the PNC and people say he’s not limping.
    • I haven't heard much of anything about it. Faux leather, sure. Biodegradable leather? No. No idea. You're a bit too new, still, to post links.
    • Okay, I'm genuinely curious about this "biodegradable leather" trend in golf. Are we talking snake oil here? I mean, golf balls, clubs... they all end up in the water eventually. Is this just greenwashing, or is there actually a real environmental benefit? And honestly, does it even perform as well as traditional leather? I don't want to sacrifice distance for the planet, you know? Anyone with real-world experience with these eco-friendly golf goods? Spill the tea!
