    • Rory McIlroy

I'll take the easy choice Rory - He may not win; but he is finishing high every week.

I like all the players listed, but it is hard for me to pick #6 Rory as a comeback. I’m going with Fowler. He’s had a nose dive recently. Brooks is recovering from injury, as is Tiger. Jason has to get his back and vertigo straightened out.

I picked Brooks. If he's healthy and can muster up some of his 2017-2019 game, I think he'll do well.

I'm a Rickie fan, but I don't see him getting it together anytime soon, plus I don't like the way his rev33 irons look.

I'd say that Rory is probably the favorite of the bunch, but 2020 was an odd year for him so I'm not sure if a good 2021 season of earnings would count as a comeback. I don't know if 2020 was really representative of the state of Rory's game because didn't play much, and the birth of his first kid (life changing event) maybe effected his priorities a bit.

As much as I want to, I don't see Tiger doing much, especially after the latest back surgery.

Jason Day seems to have an ongoing string of injuries and illnesses, and I can't remember him looking like a serious contender in recent times.

He finished 8th on the money list last year, earned over 4x the tour average, and made over 2x the next closest person on the list above, how is that an odd year?

He made more than Tiger and Day (the next two closest to Rory from that list) combined and they played in a combined 24 events while Rory only played in 15.

I voted Rory obviously, especially since the way the question was phrased makes it seem like you are asking which player will finish highest on the money list, not which player will have the highest dollar increase or percentage increase over last season.

In the past 2 years (2019 and 2020) only 1 person on that list beat Rory in season earnings and that was Koepka in 2019 when Koepka was #1 and Rory was #2 in earnings for the season, and Rory was ahead of 3rd place by ~1.5M. Koepka certainly doesn't seem to be anywhere near his 2019 form, so Rory should be the overwhelming favorite IMO.

You're right. I saw him at 31st, but I was looking at the wrong list (2021), and attributed it to lack of play due to pandemic and birth of his kid. Really not an awful season at all. Still kind of supports my take that I wouldn't consider 2021 a year where he's coming back from a bad season, although maybe by Rory's standards 2020 was not great.

Excellent point; the highest %increase would be more indicative of a "comeback"

I like watching Brooks play, but he seems off still and a bit portly. That may indicate he’s not quite healthy yet.

He has to pay for the mortgage on that Texas mansion, man!

I wonder if he learned to chip yet.

I picked JDay. He’s been flying under the radar for a bit. It’d be cool to see him in contention a lot more.

I picked Brooks because everyone else picked Rory. Tiger is prepping for a comeback in 2022.

    • Day 153: putted for a while using the 2 cups drill inside. Working on bead primarily. Contact was really good.
    • Day 8: 12/17/2024 Okay I took my new PPJ swing thought to the range today. I wasn't sure I was quite ready to do so, but I'm glad I did.  When I got it right it was good... really good. When I got it wrong it was a major fail. I hit lots of really ugly ones. But I didn't let that deter me. I stayed committed and focused on the PPJ and I avoided any temptation to go back to what I was doing before just so that I could "look" better at the range. I'm pretty excited about what I saw when I got it right.  I hit the 6 iron mostly (nearly all block work today). I also hit about 6 balls each with the PW, 8I, 5W and Driver. Those had varying degrees of success. I did crack one drive that let me feel and see what the changes will look like once I get fully trained.  Anyway, I'm going to go back to the mirror work for a couple of more days before bringing it back to the range. I do feel like if I can get this right my swing will improve a lot. So I think its worth the effort. I liked the way it looked on GEARs when I get it right, and I like the results I got at the range when I got it right. Now the goal is to work towards getting it right more often.
    • So I think it's that they can't just bend the shaft or hosel to get it to a new lie angle. They adjust that and it changes the weighting, so they have to then adjust all the weights to get it balanced again. I get the impression that it's a bit of an iterative process and they do it all in the US, so they're paying US labor costs to build it and make it work how it's supposed to. Whether you believe in the tech or not, I think that's a true statement.
    • Ah, the old EE in the backswing move. Chest going back and staying down doesn't help.
