Have You Ever Walked Off the Course During a Bad Round?

I've stopped at 9, but never in the middle of a 9. There are a couple of things that would make me do this. The first is if the PoP is so bad that we don't make the turn in 2.5 hours. The second is if someone I am playing with is unbearable. Being around extremely negative people makes me miserable, and I would rather skip golf to avoid it than stick it out while I'm seething about someone else's behavior.

Today for the first time ever I dropped out of a round without starting it.  Had been drizzling all of yesterday, but despite that we drove about 70 km one way to the course.  Stopped for breakfast a few km away and decided to head back without playing.  Very expensive and time consuming breakfast all said and done 😊

Am not sure how guys play in the rain 🤷‍♀️

If its a downpour or a hurricane I get it. But I played one of my best/most enjoyable rounds this year in the rain. Again, it was just a drizzle, but one of those all day drizzles. I realize it isn't always optimal, but everyone in my foursome talked later about how much fun we had. Probably helped that expectations were low. 🤪

I personally play very badly when I am hitting on wet fairways.  For some reason I tend hit many of those shots fat.  Maybe that is why we decided not to play.  Plus I don't enjoy pulling my trolley in those conditions

I've walked off a couple times, but only to go straight to the range. It was in the midst of swing changes, and I quickly realized during the round that my time would be better spent on the range. That said, it's not the best look, and I wouldn't encourage people to walk off with any amount of regularity. Better to just fight it and hopefully learn something about your game, your mindset, etc. during the experience.

If I’m meeting some buddies to play, I’ll play regardless of conditions. I will never play in rain or if temps below 40* if alone since invariably I’ll be paying to play poorly. 
 

also in response to topic, I’ve never walked off due to poor play, I just have an extra bourbon.

Never have walked off. I am pretty sure my hair is thinning because of a bad round. 
 

I try to keep in perspective someone is working while I am playing someone is not able to play brocade if money, no clubs etc 

Then I get that one shot…..anger is gone!!

I have never quit mid-round.

Ironically I once was about to leave at the 9th hole (55 score) and I mentally gave up. However, from the moment I teed off from the 10th hole with an “I don’t care” attitude, my back-9 resulted in a better score and ultimately a 95 for that round.

I am glad I did not quit, because I learned a lot from that experience.

I am not good enough to walk off the course for bad play. I can't remember a time when I just quit. Even scraping it in, I always seem to pull out a shot that brings me back. A scrap of hope to hang onto at the end. I have seen some others do it, but I think it is poor form. I have left for slow play a couple of times. I don't have all day and when a nine is bordering on 3 hours, no one is having fun.

Once. Well, I stopped playing, but didn't walk off. 

I was playing with @billchao, and on the third hole I took a swing and felt what can only be described as the sensation of a knife being buried into the base of my neck, between my shoulders. I tried one more swing after that, and realized I was done for the day. It ended up being done for the season, too. 

I did, however, stay with Bill and escort him around my course as he completed his round.

Couldn't complete the poll, because I don't have an opinion on Part 2.

I had one game that was going so badly I wanted to walk off, but I knew that would bum-out my playing partners, so I simply said to myself "Please, God, let this be over with soon" and just kept playing.  (I lost seventeen balls in that one game--that's how bad it was.)

Should you walk off if the game's a flaming dumpster fire?  That's entirely up to you.  I've no opinion on that question.

So, I said yes once or twice, but it was only once, second answer was only if you are playing really horribly. 

To clarify, I only left because I played so badly I ran out of golf balls on hole 15 so I just drove to the car. Had I not run out I would have finished out. Pretty much the only reason I would/have left. I even did a little bit of searching to try to find a couple to finish out but didn't have any luck. I darn sure wasn't going to to all the way back to the club house to buy some to drive back out to the hole to finish out.

Never have don't think I ever will. Had quite possibly my worst round of golf EVER yesterday and still managed to finish. Quitting seems like the wrong answer, assuming the bad play is not due to some type of injury. If you're hurt, quitting is obviously a viable option, but if you're fit to continue, find something to work on, even if it's only mental discipline.

Never walked did to bad play, if I did I may never finish a round.

have left due to weather (Was snowing once and just too darn cold, and finding a ball in snow was not working), also due to slow play or loss of sunlight.

I figure the next shot could be the one that I brag about, so just keep going.

I have stopped at 9 holes before if I am just not feeling it. However, I have found that amazing things can happen if you just keep playing. I have had some great rounds where I might have a bogey and double bogey starting out and then get a string of pars and then find a birdie or two on the back to end up shooting my 20 round running average or better. 
 

I have also had days where I just come up short on many holes and get bogey after bogey with very few pars. Miss a few more fairways and greens. The chip shots never land within the desired 3 to 6 ft range and the short putts just never drop. Not playing too bad, but the scoring is not here. That is frustrating. Struck the ball okay, but the scorecard is ugly.

I have quit after 9 holes twice when they let a group go out on the back nine without checking that we are coming down the ninth fairway. One of the many reasons I have gone back to a private club.

Only time I ever walked off course was after my calf popped during a swing on the 5th fairway.
Yes I was in the middle of an atrocious round, but I walked off due to injury more so than performance. 

I just cant see walking off just because you are playing a bad round. 
Around me a round is anywhere between $45 and $70, You paid to play so might was well see it through.

Considering I have played my fair share of bad rounds, when I am in the middle of a truly bad round I try to change it up and use the opportunity to try stuff normally dont do.
Maybe I try to drive a reachable green. Go over some trees  to cut a dogleg. Punch or hit a low stinger from the fairway. 

But that is just me!

In my second game back after a 15+ year hiatus, I got the shanks on the practice tee and couldn't shake them. In 9 holes I hit maybe 2 shots that were even marginally acceptable and lost over a dozen balls. It was like trying to hit a golf ball with a pool cue; an exercise in pure futility and there was no point in trying to fix something I didn't know how to fix, so I left (I was a single so I wasn't abandoning a playing partner).

I then went and watched several videos on how to fix the shanks. It took a few times at the range, but I did get it fixed. I haven't shanked a ball on the course since then.

I gave up the umbrella years ago.  Now, when the rain starts (if projected to continue) I go with the rain pants, rain jacket, pullover cap (otherwise my ski cap), rain gloves and a good attitude.  Cannot stand wrestling with umbrellas in the wind and rain.
