I know @coachjimsc has one, and I have one I'm reviewing for the site in the next three weeks or so.

That seems like a pretty good training aid. Looking forward to reading the review.

Quick review: it does what it says it does, and a bit more. I like it.

As with all in golf, it's not inexpensive.

As someone who has struggled with a flip, I think that tool could save a ton of time.

Maybe.

Looks interesting. Looking forward to the reviews. Looks like it could be something that could be really useful for keys 4 and 5, and probably key 3 to a lesser extent. Some of the stuff it says it helps with on the website is stuff that I have worked on (and probably will be working on again at some point).

I like mine a lot. It is helping me with external rotation of the right arm at the top.

20 or so years ago, there was a poster named Golf 1, who basically took a wire clothes hanger, and made something quite similar. It too was to help guard against flipping the club head.

I forget his real name, but he lived in Ardmore, OK.

Funny how an old idea, can find a new life later on.

So then if your impact happens to look as bad as this...

Then it sounds like The Hanger would be beneficial?

I'm wondering if this is something I can add into my practice while working on other priority pieces? (Like while I'm working on making a centered pivot, having this attached to the club and trying not to think about The Hangar and still work on the proper pivot) Or is that trying to change too much too quickly?

Kill slow play. Allow walking. Reduce ineffective golf instruction. Use environmentally friendly course maintenance.

I think it would be beneficial. You know it when it comes off of your forearm early.

For myself, I have it attached while I'm working on my pivot. It seems to give you the feedback rather quickly. So i don't have to think about that part of my swing, especially the more I use it.

For you I'd say go for it. ;-)

  • 2 months later...

Just pulled the trigger on one of these, should be here Thursday or Friday.

My centered pivot is (somewhat) under control and significantly better than it used to be.

Plus I got sick of watching myself on video and seeing this:

Michael Breed has used a coat hanger for many years for the same effect.  The difference between his coat hanger and this looks to be you can hit golf balls easily with this whereas with the coat hanger you're still trying to hold onto the hanger and the grip at the same time which makes it very difficult.

Yup. I tried with a coat hanger at the range a month or so ago and hated it. Too hard to grip tightly enough for the coat hanger not to rotate, plus I didnt like the feeling of the coat hanger digging into my fingers/palms.

Very cool to see this post here. The creator Ted Watson was a golf buddy of mine. Haven't seen him in a few years since we both started families, but we used to play a handful of rounds together each year.

I remember when he mentioned the idea for The Hanger and told me that he was in the process of getting investors. I didn't know too much about the specifics of the product, all I was thinking was "oh wow - another golf training aid?? Good luck buddy."

I'm glad to see that this is a worthwhile product with some good early feedback. Hopefully he finds success.

I've used this a bit.   Its really useful when you are trying to train yourself to lay the club flat at the top of the swing and shallow your path.
