Are you a "Fair Weather" or "All Weather" golfer?

  1. 1. What type of "Weather Golfer" are you.

    • I am 100% a Fair Weather Golfer - It can't be too cold or too hot and forget any rain or wet fairways. It must be perfect weather or I am out.

    • I am a Decent Weather Golfer - I'll golf if not raining as long as it is over 60 degrees and under 85 degrees.
    • I am a Dry & Warm Weather Golfer - as long as over 60 degrees and not raining I'll be there, even if over 85-90 degrees.
    • I am a Warm Weather Golfer - As long as over 60 degrees I'll be there, even if it is wet/rainy.
    • I amΒ a Dry Weather Golfer - I'll golf in any temps as long as it is not raining or snowing.
    • I am an All Weather Golfer - If the course is open I'll be there.

All weather, but very rarely if it’s pouring. Some rain is fine. Wind is a more no-go than rain. Especially windΒ andΒ rain.

I’d rather play in cool light drizzle than 80Β° F+ and sunny. My body is not designed for hot weather.

My perfect conditions are 60-70Β° F and cloud cover. If it’s a bit nippy I can wear more clothes. I can only remove so much clothes if it’s 75+ and still get too hot. Warm and cloudy can work too.

Ok, I didn't read the question at all, lol. So, to answer this thread correctly.Β

Temp: Above 45 degrees (pending wind at the low end).
Weather: On and off rain, I am ok. I may not go out by myself, but I am not skipping a tee time if the weather is just meh. T-storms, or torrential downpour, then it will be a game time decision. Snow is out. I will never play golf when it is that cold out.Β

The closest one might be "All Weather" then ;).Β

I voted "Decent Weather Golfer".

I was going to describe my general rules...but then @saevel25Β did it for me so I'll just copy his, with one addition:

Temp: Above 45 degrees (pending wind at the low end).Β  Below 90 degrees.
Weather: On and off rain, I am ok. I may not go out by myself, but I am not skipping a tee time if the weather is just meh. T-storms, or torrential downpour, then it will be a game time decision. Snow is out. I will never play golf when it is that cold out.Β

Hey there, new member here (also a newbie player)!

I voted All Weather Golfer since I live in Colombia, a tropical country with relatively stable weather throughout the year, but with plenty of β€œmicro weathers” depending on the altitude you're in. So I've played in cooler mountain cities like BogotΓ‘ (55Β°F ish - 8,660 ft asl) but also in warmer mountain regions like the coffee triangle and of course on the hot and humid Caribbean coast as well, and I've enjoyed all rounds.

I voted dry weather. I don't like to play in steady rain more because of the hassle of keeping clubs dry than myself getting wet. Temperature wise I mainly play attention to the heat index as opposed to the air temp, but generally from 45-115 I'm playing and I'm usually walking up until 105/110 heat index. Fortunately that happens less often in SC than in TN.

Hola!! Todo bien?

Not that I know of, but maybe. The closest would be Ruitoque in Bucaramanga

Pretty much all weather - Rain and cold don't really bother as do neither hot temps.Β  For years I rode year round on the bike, so it being in the elements has never really been an issue.Β  I've called and had to look around for an open course when it was super cold.Β  Also I've been out there when it was pouring rain (and I had forgotten the rain gear).Β  So yes, if its open and I have the opportunity I will more times than not be calling for a tee time.Β Β

I voted decent weather golfer.Β  Generally it needs to be over 50 and sunny with no wind or over 70 if there is wind or rain.Β  I generally don't play in the rain or when it is over 95 unless it is league night and I can't reschedule or some type of event. Most of the time that I have played in the rain is because we just got caught in the rain, almost never tee off in the rain. We did tee off in the rain the first time we played at Eaglesticks, but it was warm and there was not much of a chance of rain and while it absolutely poured for a while, it stopped after 4 or 5 holes.

Swiss living in Colombia since 2015, can I consider myself a Colombian?Β πŸ˜†

Needs to be nice out for me. Β And hotter the better, keeps all the crap off the course so I’m not out there 5 hours. Β If it’s not nice out, I’ll play another day. Β We get people at our place visibly distraught if it’s raining and we’re not letting people out. Β It’s amazing… golf isn’t cheap… play another day.

I like golf but I have other things to do as well.

Poll lacks wind factor

I hate strong wind more than I hate heat or cold or wet

If the course is open, I will play.Β  Except when it is too windy. 25+ mph.Β  Although, once I am on the course and the wind picks up, I'll finish the round.

All weather,

never gets that cold you can’t play here, although being mostly retired, we’d skip heavy rain and play the following nice day.Β
Spring and autumn are my favourite times to play,Β

Winter finds you out if you’re not striking them cleanly ;-)

Summer too dry & too hard.Β

I can't really vote. I'll play in 50Β° if it's even a little sunny and not pouring. I'll play in 90Β°.

I generally won't play when it's pouring, ridiculously windy, or > 100Β° or below about 40Β°.

Played yesterday. First 4 holes were a combo of steady rain, sprinkle and a downpour.
Obviously we waited in the cart during the down pour.
We had thunder past us and heading toward us.
We had lighting to the east and west of us.

By the 5th hole the sun came out and temp rose to a humid 85.
So I was soaked from the rain and swampy from the humidity.
This lasted for hole 5-6-7.
By hole 8 & 9, the dark clouds started to move in again as did the thunder.
But we finished before the heavy stuff came down again.

Not ideal, but we are running out of weeks for league play.

I’ll play in the rain, but thunder and lightning? That’s a no from me, dawg.

I don’t think the courses around here will even let you out if there’s lightning in the area. I know one course has the Thor Guard lightning detection system. It went off once when I was playing and they came out picked us all up in carts from wherever we were.

I would probably be listed under β€œAll Weather.” I have played in Michigan in every month since April, 2022. I don’t play when the turf’s surface is frozen. I won’t start a round in steady rain if the forecast is for rain the next 4 hours. If the choice is to go a week or more without playing or play when it is 39 degrees with a 15 mph breeze, I play.

I'd like to change my vote to Dry Weather Golfer from All Weather Golfer until I improve drastically. Played in non-stop rain on Monday and it was the pits. Worst golf I've ever played, soaked through to my underwear, range finder dead from moisture, phone in dry pocket soaked, entire golf bag soaked and everything in it. No thanks, no more of that nonsense.

Novice golfer seeking to learn and improve.
