That it would be completely inappropriate to rename the topic just because the OP was wrong about what he said in 2010.

I think people can read the OP and see the date and come to their own conclusion.

It wasn't a suggestion but rather that I had come to my own conclusion . Maybe my post didn't cross the pond to well

No worries. All good here. If things like this ever bothered me, I don't know how I'd make it through a week. :-)

One thing I will say about Rory is that he is the only one I could see standing toe to toe with Tiger playing his A game, circa 2000, and not get blown away.  Of course it would have to be Rory's A game, maybe A+.  I still hold out hope that we will see these guys both playing their best, going head to head late in a major.

Jordan is a helluva player but I don't think he has the firepower of Rory at his best.

Rory's "A game" is incredible for sure. I would say elite in the history of the game. Just wish he was more consistent.

I would like to see all the big names play their best at the same time. We haven't really seen it that often in recent years. Maybe Stenson/Mickelson at the 2016 Open or Mickelson/Fowler/McIlroy at the 2014 PGA.

His A game is reminiscent of Tiger at the '97 Masters, which I was watching last night.  Effortless, accurate, overwhelming power with every other part of his game spotless.

I’d love to see Tiger, DJ and Rory battle it out at The Masters (duh). I certainly enjoy great golf regardless, but there’s so much more when those guys are killin it. Eddie Haskell and his crew of school boys grow a little tiresome for me. If Rory can keep his putter hot he’ll be a tough one to beat for sure.

Rory isn't per se overrated. Does he struggle at times? Sure. All great players do. He tends to be one of the streakiest players on the planet though. If Rory is on, you just can't really beat him. (Unless your maybe Prime Tiger or Tiger on his A Game). Even the guys who are ahead of him in the OWGR would probably all say, if Rory is on, he's nearly untouchable. Bay Hill last week was proof. Is being streaky mean you're overrated? I don't think so.

Yes overall Rory is overrated. When he is on he is unbeatable but he isn't very consistent.

Trollin' is the life

Rory doesn't seem to be in control of his A-game like Tiger was.

Or Jack, or Arnie, or Lee....

When it's on, it's incredible.  But even he seems surprised when it happens.

Maybe a little off topic, but I see everyone says he is streaky.  What do you think makes him so streaky?  Personal issues, desire, difficult swing alignments/timing, or what?  Just curious as to what makes him this way.  I don't think it's strictly putting.  His long game comes and goes too as we saw at the Masters and other tournaments.  Maybe his swing has too wide of dispersion gap (hooks and blocks)?  I dunno, what do you guys think?

I was pulling for him to win. When he birdied 16, I thought "two pars to win". Then he barely reached the green on 17 and pulled out the driver on 18. I was on the edge of my seat. His approach shot on 18 was curving way too much left!!!! But what a great finish for him.

Yeah, he needs to quit now.  So streaky, so inconsistent, such terrible results.  There's only TWO top 2 finishes since October.  I mean, how can he even sleep at night.  The sucklitude is amazing.  I'd quit.  I'd just sit down,.....and quit.

Maybe he should open a restaurant or something, teach kids at the local muni.

He and DJ are definitely the two best in the world right now. No question in my mind. To me, though, DJ can keep it together longer. I just don't know if Rory can keep this going for a long period of time. We'll see how he does in the majors this year. This is the first time I remember him this hot in the beginning of the year. He usually gets hot in the summertime. I don't think he's gone into Augusta brimming with more confidence with the exception of maybe 2015 after he won the Match Play.

True. However, I still trust Rory to close out a major more than DJ.

Neither have had much experience lately in that department. Rory grabbed the lead last year on Sunday at Augusta and then did a disappearing act. DJ melted at the US Open last year. Other than that, they really haven’t been factors in majors the last few years.

It won’t be a mundane Masters for Rory. He’s either gonna win or crash and burn.

But, over the course of their careers, there is no denying that Rory has a much better closer rate than DJ, who has blown many more major championships than he has won. And Rory never grabbed the lead in last year's Masters; he had to play catch up and couldn't do it. Rory just let one major go when he had a lead at some time during the final round. Otherwise, he's closed the deal the 4 other times he was there. DJ has what, like 4 or 5 4th blown 4th round leads (or ties for) in majors with only the one win.
