We don't exchange gifts but I will likely buy something for myself. Been considering an irons change but not sure. Want to demo the Ci11's and hit the Cleveland CG16's again before I make up my mind.

I bought the CG16 wedges (52, 56, 60) and I am enjoying them very much.

It's too bad the Nike Covert doesn't release earlier. I liked how the 913 felt when I tried it out over the weekend, but I do want to test out the Covert before making a decision.

Definitely try out different sets, but I will say that I absolutely love my Ci11's. Its a shame so many people dismiss Wilson Staff without even looking at their stuff. The Ci11 Irons and the DX-i Hybrids and woods are fantastic clubs. My 5 wood is money in the bank.

It is nice that the Ci11's come with both a PW and GW, but you need to buy the 3i seperate if you want one (I did, because I wanted the full set, though it rarely gets used). But I think you will really enjoy them. Good luck with whatever you choose.

As for me, my family will be buying me PentaTP5's, as that's what I always ask for when they ask what I want. There really isn't a club I want that I don't have,  along with 4 pairs of golf shoes, dozens of golf shirts and pants. Its hard to choose anything golf related when I have 3 full bags of high end clubs already. 2 golf GPS's, a range finder. 14-15 dozen balls (9 PentaTP5's, 5-6 ProV1's). But I played 140 rounds of golf this summer, so balls are never a waste for me. I rarely use them, but the Penta's get chewed up pretty bad. I never use a ball for more than 18 holes before throwing it in to my practice pails.

I do have a Nintendo WiiU pre-ordered for Sunday morning, so i'll probably ask the wife for a few games for that.

Although I may check to see if WS makes a 2 iron for the Ci11's. I would like to have one. If they do, I may ask the wife for that as well. Hoping I see some ideas for cool golf stuff I dont have in this thread.

Already ordered my Christmas present - a SC Custom Shop Pro Platinum.  Also looking at the new Titleist 913 fairway woods.  I'm going to stick with my irons since I'm hitting them well and don't want to mess that up by adjusting to new ones.

Haven't had a chance to try it but I'm reading about the new Ping Anser driver. Anybody tried or bought one? Which shaft did you try, use?

Meh, to be everything they have done is a step back from the rapture. I liked the anser, but found there were better clubs with better adjustability options.

I may buy myself a few gloves or something, but I'm doing alright in the equipment department. The only thing that really needs replacing is my hybrid. Non-golf I'm making some upgrades to my computer. New RAM, replacing the optical drive with a hard drive, swapping the old one out for an SDD.

I think I want to buy myself a Titleist 14 way cart bag but I don't know if I can convince myself to spend the money on something that has no possibility whatsoever to lower my scores.

Definitely golf shoes, some new golf balls (I still tend to lose a lot, so I play Warbirds/Gamers/Mojos), perhaps a hat or two to protect my ever increasing scalp.

I'm relatively new to playing again, having picked it up again this summer after not playing since my mid-teens (I'm 37 now, and it's NOT like riding a bike, I'm horrible at golf right now). I really don't want to ask for much in the equipment category, as I'm really not looking to have family drop lots of money on equipment I'll hit equally as bad as anything I have right now!

Yeah -  I need one of those for when I do backflips off 10 foot ledges on my mountain bike.  That way my relatives will know what happened to me.

    • Ok, so range work tonight wasn't horrible. I did notice a slight backslide in keeping my left hip on the wall. But I think it was a pretty slight move, even so I'll work double hard to make sure I get back to not moving off. I didn't notice until I got home that the camera was a little too close when recording FO Driver swings. Was a really good drive, push draw that carried to the top of the hill. Other than small move off the wall and long swing I'm pretty happy with the swing. This drive was almost exactly the same as the face on drive. Push draw to the top of the hill in the distance. I may be crazy, but it looks almost like I didn't go shallow to steep on this swing. I don't have good software to check that though.   Not bad other than the slight move off the wall and swing lengthened a little. No real insight on this swing either. Swing could have been shorter. But now, something completely different!! Have I mentioned how much I love the pitching technique I learned in Erie??
    • I also had this same thought about a month back. I asked my instructor and he said he wouldn't worry about it (probably because he was thinking "get your effing swing right first, you can't fix BAD" lol) and said that it's actually probably in the correct configuration to aid in a slice miss in that the weights are there to prevent the cogwheel effect (inducing the side spin). So with the weight at the toe, if I hit the heel it should move back farther than the toe on impact and have less slice spin. I think I have that right, maybe I'm loony.
    • Ha ha. I thought for a while that I wasn't as bad at golf as I was at counting to 5 (or 7 or 8). Sadly, Game Golf confirmed the high scores are real. I feel bad for the owners of the golf courses when they get hit by a drought. I guess the same can be said for anyone who's business depends on appropriate weather (farmers, ski resorts). I wonder how difficult it is to bring a course back to shape when it gets that dried out.
    • If you can get fitted for long clubs - even if you pick them up used - this would help your game the most. BTW, the TommyA 845 irons are #1 on my list of cool golf clubs I've never owned. (People have let me hit them, and they had good feel!) 845s will get you through the first couple of return seasons, or maybe longer! On FWs, at least hit a 4W and see how it flies. Some golf tests indicate that the average golfer can hit the 4W more reliably and sometimes longer than a 3W. It just depends on how you come into the ball. I have carrried 4W + 7W for four seasons now.
    • Literally... From June 1 to July 10 Trumansburg NY was the driest place in Upstate NY.  I have no reason to believe that has changed.  We got rained on for about an hour yesterday and overnight, but not enough to do anything useful.  I've never seen the golf course this brown or the ponds so low... if I wanted to get my feet muddy, I could have grabbed about 10 balls... they were probably all mine anyway. Figuratively.  I just played my third consecutive terrible round.  Every time I play seems to be the worst round of my life.  They only reason I kept score was because I got a Game Golf belt unit and wanted to try it out.  I like it: I can't count very high without help.  Anywho... I decided t take a week or two off from golf, not touch the clubs, and recharge a little bit.  I may, in that time, do a grossly inappropriate rain dance because hey... you never know.
