This year I've been going between the E6 and DT Solo. I'll have to give the edge to the E6. Plays great around the greens!

I like the Wilson Staff 50 in orange. At a buck per ball, it's a steal. I have used more expensive two and three piece golf balls, but the difference in performance is so minimal it's not worth the extra cost. When I want to play one with better spin, then I will shell out the extra $$ for the urethane golf balls.

i played all this year with Wilson staff balls.

i started with fg tour x balls but they weren't the best feeling off the putter. Prov1 x was better off the putter.

i finished the season and am still using regular fg tours. Not.too much spin off the irons but increased spin off the driver. Great directional control and solid distance

i think they are a steal and many players should consider them

I moved to playing Pro V1 earlier this year. Was always sceptical about premium balls but has certainly improved my short game when I worked on my wedges using the Pelz system. Really predictable on chips. I also tried playing the Nike 20XI s (2012 model I think), I actually stopped because it spins TOO MUCH. I found it really hard about of rough around the green because it just stopped dead from shortish chips. It was difficult to adjust! If you worked on getting used to them sure they would be great. They did cut up really easily though, after one good wedge shot. Before that I was playing Srixon AD333 which was a great ball. Tempted to go back as stopped quickly on full shots and was predictable with wedges (although doesn't check like a Pro V1.)

Switched from Noodles to Titleist Tour NXT and/or Pro V1 balls. I can tell a big difference!

Nothing but the Pro V1x, tried the other balls, none react like the pro V1x around the greens for consistency.

Sorry, this may be a tad OT. When I use to play 10 yrs ago or so, I always played with titliest DT wound balls. no that I'm back to leaning how to play again, and being 65 yrs my vision isn't well enough to see white, so I'm looking for suggestions re: a yeller ball that would play similar to the old DT wound balls. Thanks

OP sorry for the OT.

Yes so right about the 20xis. Crazy how much they spin Switched to lethals at the end of the year and love them. Go to white in lethals and go to yellow is zstar xv

Back to using Titleist NXT Tour & Pro V1.     Two of my best scores were done with those balls so I am switching to see if I can get some magic back.  Wishful thinking, I know.    But my new home course is littered with lost Pro V1 balls, LOL, and it is painful to leave them there or hit them away at range.

Try the Titleist Velocity or the Nike Vapor Black. Both are about the same price point and in my experience both good performers for the $$. If you don't want to spend the extra on premium balls, these are pretty good choices.

Over the last 3 years I have played with several different models of golf balls and here is what I discovered:

Callaway - Haven't had any problems with any model I have used.

Titleist - ProV1 - Excellent /  ProV1x - Lost distance and feel from the ProV1 / NXT Tour - Same performance as ProV1

TaylorMade - Didn't like any model I have used, for the record my entire club selection in my bag is TaylorMade

Nike - Love the One RZN, I won a dozen at an outing and proceeded to shot my best scores over the next month and a half.

Bridgestone - Used the B330 series for my slow swing speed and felt like I was hitting a rock.

Pinnacle - Gold series was not the greatest off of the tee but responded very well for irons and wedges.

Right now my ball of choice is the Nike RZN but we'll see what happens in 2014.

Well, I guess that's why they make a bajillion different golf balls :-D .

I have been playing since the old balata days so I guess that dates me...

For me personally, (older feller, 14 HC) these are my findings:

Best cheap ball - Nike PD Soft (green box) $15

Best mid range ball - Nike Vapor Black or Titleist Velocity $24

Better mid range ball - Titleist NXT Tour $ 30

Best premium ball - Titleist ProV1 $48

Best cheap wind ball - Top Flite (the cheap 15 for $12 t Walmart ones) they are kinda hard but they don't spin much so pretty good into a 30 knot headwind - which we have to play in here in NW Arkansas a lot in the winter months...

just my $ .02

Living in the PNW, I will usually change balls as the weather and conditions change.  In the firm, fast summer I use the TM Reds and RBZ U, spring and early fall I use the Gamer v2 and fall/winter I use a variety including Wilson Duo, Zip and TF D2 Feels.  I will end my second season in a row paying less than $1 per ball for the year.

In my Bagboy cart bag:
Driver: TM R11s 10.5 R-flex 3W: TM 09 Burner 3H: TM 09 Burner Irons: TM Tour Burner 4-PW r-flex
Wedges: Wilson TW9 GW, Ping Eye 2+ SW, Vokey SM 58.08      Putter:TM Rossa Spider Ball: TM TP/Red LDP, TF Gamer v2   Range Finder: GX-I

I use cheap balls. Personally like the Callaway Warbird, Noodle Soft, Slazenger Distance Feel, Bridgestone e6. My favorite balls are the Wilson Staff 50 Elite and the DUO. DUO is a wee bit softer than the 50, but not much difference. The Bridgestone e6, while a good ball, is a bit overpriced. Out of the ones I listed, I would play the 50 first, Warbird or Noodle Soft second, and any of the others next. I am not good enough for ProV1 or ProV1x. The NXT is super nice and I love them, but the price is a killer. DT Solo is a good ball as well, but the Wison Staff cheapys are better in my opinion.

Are used golf balls worth buying or are they junk? Please provide best site to purchase from.

www.lostgolfballs.com They sell used golf balls.  They do not repaint/refinish them so they are not considered to be refurbished.  They just grade them and price according to the grade.

I find a lot of golf balls.  Balls that I find that are labeled refurbished, if you put them in a bleach/water mix to clean them...the paint will come off.  I consider refurbished golf balls to be junk.  JMHO.

    • However, have you ever considered using small summer houses for such setups? They offer a great solution for creating dedicated practice areas, especially for an affluent audience looking to enhance their outdoor living space.
    • I've played Bali Hai, Bear's Best and Painted Desert. I enjoyed Bali Hai the most--course was in great shape, friendly staff and got paired in a great group. Bear's Best greens were very fast, didn't hold the ball well (I normally have enough spin to stop the ball after 1-2 hops).  The sand was different on many holes. Some were even dark sand (recreation of holes from Hawaii). Unfortunately I was single and paired with a local "member" who only played the front 9.  We were stuck behind a slow 4-some who wouldn't let me through even when the local left. Painted Desert was decent, just a bit far from the Strip where we were staying.

    • Honestly, unless there's something about that rough there that makes it abnormally penal or a lost ball likely, this might be the play. I don't know how the mystrategy cone works, but per LSW, you don't use every shot for your shot zones. In that scatter plot, you have no balls in the bunker, and 1 in the penalty area. The median outcome seems to be a 50 yard pitch. Even if you aren't great from 50 yards, you're better off there than in a fairway bunker or the penalty area on the right of the fairway. It could also be a strategy you keep in your back pocket if you need to make up ground. Maybe this is a higher average score with driver, but better chance at a birdie. Maybe you are hitting your driver well and feel comfortable with letting one rip.  I get not wanting to wait and not wanting to endanger people on the tee, but in a tournament, I think I value playing for score more than waiting. I don't value that over hurting people, but you can always yell fore 😆 Only thing I would say is I'm not sure whether that cone is the best representation of the strategy (see my comment above about LSW's shot zones). To me, it looks like a 4 iron where you're aiming closer to the bunker might be the play. You have a lot of shots out to the right and only a few to the left. Obviously, I don't know where you are aiming (and this is a limitation of MyStrategy), but it seems like most of your 4 iron shots are right. You have 2 in the bunker but aiming a bit closer to the bunker won't bring more of your shots into the bunker. It does bring a few away from the penalty area on the right.  This could also depend on how severe the penalties are for missing the green. Do you need to be closer to avoid issues around the green?  It's not a bad strategy to hit 6 iron off the tee, be in the fairway, and have 150ish in. I'm probably overthinking this.
