My guess is not well, but I like both, so I'll be rooting for them for sure.

Here's a run-down of how all the past Big Break champions have fared in their exemptions. Overall, the results haven't been good, but a few have made the cut, and Tommy Gainey finished T8, but that was a Nationwide Tour event. Still a darn good result though, and the highest any Big Breaker has finished so far.

Until she learns how to putt (better), she won't do very well.

Same, not good to flat out terrible. especially Emily. Though I think she's a better golfer than she's demonstrated on BB. I play at CO National quite a bit, that's the home course for the CU Buffs. I've played right behind some of her teammates and those girls can play. Looking at her CU bio she's evidently the best they've had so who knows.

Yea, I agree it was an anti-climactic finale with some pretty unclutch golf, but overall I enjoyed this format and found it to be very entertaining for some stretches of the season. Unfortunately, with teams of three, the finale probably should have been two hours with double the holes. That would have made for more fun meltdowns or a great rally by Team Doleman. Either way, I'd probably be entertained. While I love watching great golf, I also for whatever reason enjoyed watching Doleman top his tee shot. I guess that makes me a bit of a jerk, but I can live with that.

But despite all the flaws, I'm glad the "good guys" won! Haha

I agree.

Yeah but I think his point was that all he needed was 2 putts from that point. That wouldn't be unheard of to concede a 2 putt from 7 feet. Plus, it's all about the production and the editing ... Don't forget that too. :)

Yeah, I actually thought the did that with a creative edit.  Brian had a short putt that was not conceded later in the show - and he did not complain about that one.  I thought they probably took his comment from that scenario and put it with the other putt.  Either way, no one should ever complain about not getting a putt conceded.  If it is so easy it should be conceded - then might as well putt it.

Emily missed her obligatory short putt, but so did 2 other pros.  So can't single her out really.

Hated to see Shannon play that poorly right at the end.  She had been one of the most consistent all show.  But I was pulling for Team Red anyway.  Rice is cooler than Doleman.  Isaac is cooler than Brian.  Emily is cooler than Shannon - even though Shannon is pretty cool, too.

Doleman is terrible.  In retrospect, I really can't believe all that drama he caused in the beginning.  I thought he must be really good.  He is not.

Did anyone notice that Shannon 'asked' Emily if one putt was conceded?  Just another sign of a crappy day.

I would have loved to see her come out with that cut-throat attitude this last time.  Cool woman.

Oh - Last Break Men's is also done now.  Let's just say Will didn't win.

I have to say that it surprises me on how inconsistent the play is from episode to episode, or even shot to shot, by some of these players. You watch someone almost hole out their approach, but then in the very next challenge they'll go on to chunk a wedge and not even hit the green from 100 yards out.

The most surprising part to me was that not one team was able to hit the green past 155 yards in the challenge where they kept going back until everyone on a team missed the green.

What GD said.  He was referring to him forcing him to two putt from 6 feet or so, which is why he said, "then I'm gonna make you watch this one go in."  A reference to the fact that he didn't need to make it, but he wanted to send the message that he could.  The irony of course, being that they couldn't make a single putt inside 10 feet later on when they needed it.

Bad putting by below average putters sums it up to me.

Word.

As expected (at least by me), the biggest advantage was Rice>>>Doleman.  I mean that crap got ugly to the point I was glad they sat out the final hole.  The other blue members had chances to tie and even win (if they made both birdie attempts in Q2 and Q3, but they couldn't do it.  The deciding shot/hole was actually Brian's 1st putt on the 1st hole.  They played each other pretty much even from there, even though Blue team had the better approach shots.

My understanding is that it's somewhat commonplace for opponents to request a "good-good" concession.  Seems odd to people like you and me, but not that abnormal for them.

I was glad to see Team Rice win. Jerry and Isaac seem like really cool guys, and I like Emily too. She's not the greatest golfer, but she seemed like a good teammate and made nice shots from time to time.

Although I was glad to see the red team win, I don't really think it's right that they didn't have to beat Team Doleman twice. I mean they were the only team to not suffer a loss, and the entire competition has been double-elimination. Team Doleman should have had to play last week instead of getting the day off, and then if they still went into the championship undefeated then they should have had to be beaten twice. I know the show was likely limited to a certain number of episodes due to TV restrictions and such, but it just doesn't really seem fair that every other team got to suffer a loss and come back, but when Doleman's team loses their first match it's over.

I did not like either of the girs unfortunately. Shannon talked like she was baked out of her mind and not very attractive. Emily was so annoying and always kissing up to Jeeeeeeerry. What is the deal with her eyes? She has no eyebrows, which I can get over, but now eyelashes!

I kinda think it would be the other way around.  In fact, I believe some pros (LPGA and PGA) have been on the show and commented that the challenges were a bit more intimidating than playing during a tournament round.  Think about it:

1) You're 1 of ~100 golfers.

2) You won't have a big gallery following you.

3) The camera won't be on you at all times.

4) You know you can recover from one crappy shot to make a decent score, as opposed to going home immediately following like happens during some challenges.

Basically, until you make the final few groups during a championship round, or until you hold the lead in a tournament, I imagine tournament golf is less intimidating than having a million people watching you (or a team depending on you) having to get up and down from 80 yards at a producer's whim.

all in all, I thought the series was entertaining.     Contrary to popular belief here, I liked Doleman - he rose as the leader of the team & pulled them together amidst all the drama & offered full support of his team mates.        I just wish Mallories team would have made it to the finals :w00t:

    • I appreciate the 👍 from @Rulesman, one reason I post these updates is to open myself for constructive criticism from more knowledgeable or experienced people.  Another reason is so that other folks might learn from my experiences, and his questions bring up an important point.  Rule 16.1 is pretty clear, you must have interference with your stance or area of intended swing to be allowed free relief.  But the existence of interference is much less easily defined.  It can depend on the location of the ball and the Abnormal Course Condition, the terrain and vegetation around the area, the direction of play, the type of shot that might be reasonably intended, and the skill of the player.  You don't get relief when the interference only exists when the player's intended shot is "clearly unreasonable".  I needed to evaluate all of these criteria under the watchful eye of the PGA professional who would have preferred to take relief from a pretty gnarly lie.  They say doing rules official work is hours of boredom interrupted by moments of intense pressure.
    • I would vote no also. The way I heard the story is that Pete most definitely did gamble on baseball as a player. He gambled so much that he got himself in deep with the mob. Then as a manager he'd tip off certain people to whom he owned money each day as to how the pitcher looked warming up, if there was some stiffness in the elbow that wasn't reported. Or if certain hitters were out late, had the flu, or what ever. That was his way of paying off his debts to the mob.  There are supposedly phone call records which were made from the managers desk when he was the manager of the Reds, and/or the Expose and where ever he was in the visiting team locker room. This is supposedly some of the evidence against Pete.  On a side note. I think Pete missed a real opportunity. It was always my thought that he handled everything totally wrong. I think he should have come out right away and said "I did it." ... "I made huge mistakes and it ruined my life. Both financially and in terms of the stress it put on me." I think he could have been booked on speaking tours telling the world about the perils of addiction in general and gambling addiction specifically. I think he'd of been cast in much more sympathetic light. Possibly even turned into a hero again. America loves a redemption story. Instead he tried to deny everything and spend money on lawyers to keep information from coming out. I thought at the time and still think now that he played the cards he had terribly. Perhaps that was part of the reason he owned so much money gambling. 🤷‍♂️
    • Glad to hear you're sufficiently mended to start swinging again! As Bette Davis said "getting old is not for sissies". I I'll check in with you via PM or text in a few weeks and hopefully we can get out at NKGC this year!
    • I started doing slow swings again. I’ve had a rough year since last June. Hurt my left SI joint and took the better part of 9 months rehabbing it. Then I got a repeat hernia last December. I had repair surgery 4 weeks ago and now can start with slow swings. I’ve only played three times since the outing last June and only the last one without any back pain as the back finally has healed. I have to take it slow with the hernia because the golf swing can put a lot of stress on that area. I am able to work out again too since the surgery, which helps. Started Monday with just backswing work with 6 iron and driver. Today, more of the same with some slow chippy swing with 6 iron and driver. Focus of the practice is from my last GEARS session. Setup: Feel like I’m on my toes almost falling toward the ball. Arms hand down vertically and feel like I’m almost too close to the ball. Backswing: The idea is to keep my hip center from moving toward the ball. I need to feel like I’m swaying back a bit on the takeaway, but in reality, push my right hip back toward the wall 45 degrees behind me to P3. From P3-4, start moving toward the target. Downswing: Hands feel like they start dropping straight down from the top. Left leg pushes the left hip back and up.  Did backswing feels first then slow 25% swings. About 10 balls each with rehearsal feels. It will be a fews week before I can really do full swings, but this practice may help reset things and remove old bad habits. I’ll try to film when I have a chance.
