New revision out this morning and it is back into the single digits. 9.6, it is funny how one really great round can lower the handicap. I need to work to keep it there.

Back up to 4.5.

Down to a 1.1.

Was going to dip into the zeros but bumped a good round out of my last 20 and replaced it with a not-so-good round.

Been all over the place this year so far; got off to an awful start but I've been playing better lately.

I continue to suck at the same level.....

Haven't played in any tournaments (other than one member/guest) this year.  Going to sign up for a couple, maybe that will break me out of this funk.  The FSGA amateur tournament series are net comps, so I might as well take advantage of this index while I can!

Up another .1 but the most important thing now is I finally eliminated the ugly hook I have been fighting for over 6 months, maybe more like 2 years but it has steadily gotten worse until I realized a issue with my grip was the main cause, played 9 yesterday without 1 severe hook, I tugged a few left but no ugly snappers like I would have before, usually 1 or 2 per round and those things cost at least 3-4 strokes a round. I really need to put in some range time today and get this worked out cause I may be able to turn this ship right in a hurry. Yesterday hit an approach within a foot from 135 with new grip so very happy. I was not gripping the club with my hands connected so the right hand was too free to take over.

Dropping like a stone. Last two revisions have gone from 11.9 to 10.4 to 9.4 today. 4 out of 5 best of 20 scores are in last three weeks.

My lowest score dropped off this time, leaving me with a 12.0 (from 11.5). But now I have 5 freebies to come off my index before I run into my next score that counts. So I've got that going for me, which is nice.

Unfortunately my first official handicap of this year shows an increase again... 22.7. I fully expect that to drop with the next revision though after the new changes to my swing.

Geez...I haven't been online much and I'm not staying current!    With the 7-15 revision, I'm still trending in the right direction!   My index dropped another .4 to a 2.8!   I want some more of THAT!!    My goal of getting back to the 1's is now within shouting distance!

My handicap continues to go in the wrong direction, injury and unforced errors (stupidity) are killing me this season.

Going to be a 17.0 effective August 1. Updating now because I likely won't play between now and then. Best I've been in a while, not counting handicaps that included rounds from 2011 due to a lack-of-playing in 2012 and 2013.

Mine is an estimate for now.

I still have to have a couple more scores before I get an official HI.

I don't play tournament golf, so it isn't really critical, but I want to use it as a gauge to see how I'm doing.  I would like to eventually get it into the single digits.  I moved right onto a golf course and have a resident membership at the country club so I can play merely a small cart fee.  Getting to play more, I'm hoping to improve.

    • I'm not sure you're calculating the number of strokes you would need to give correctly. The way I figure it, a 6.9 index golfer playing from tees that are rated 70.8/126 would have a course handicap of 6. A 20-index golfer playing from tees that are rated 64/106 would have a course handicap of 11. Therefore, based on the example above, assuming this is the same golf course and these index & slope numbers are based on the different tees, you should only have to give 5 strokes (or one stroke on the five most difficult holes if match play) not 6. Regardless, I get your point...the average golfer has no understanding of how the system works and trying to explain it to people, who haven't bothered to read the documentation provided by either the USGA or the R&A, is hopeless. In any case, I think the WHS as it currently is, does the best job possible of leveling the playing field and I think most golfers (obviously, based on the back & forth on this thread, not all golfers) at least comprehend that.

    • Yes it's true in a large sample like a tournament a bunch of 20 handicaps shouldn't get 13 strokes more than you. One of them will have a day and win. But two on one, the 7 handicap is going to cover those 13 strokes the vast majority of the time. 20 handicaps are shit players. With super high variance and a very asymmetrical distribution of scores. Yes they shoot 85 every once in a while. But they shoot 110 way more often. A 7 handicap's equivalent is shooting 74 every once in a while but... 86 way more often?
