Anybody seen Cake with the fine as hell Jennifer Aniston?

She didn't look real fine in that flick but I thought she gave a tremendous performance. It had an oddly striking effect on me. I think I liked it but I wouldn't want to see it again. Weird, I know.

And I thought John Wick was violent...

Guess the 8 yr old won't be seeing the Kingsman anytime in the next 7 years... :-O

He saw the previews and said, "Dad, can we see that?"

... I think not...

I think I gave Kingsman a bogey and Wick a double bogey. That Kingsman scene stirred up lots of talk when it was released and it was one of many reasons I didn't like the movie. Also the ending scene just didn't work for me. I hated John Wick and imho it's totally overrated but what do I know I think a sequel is coming out.

Interesting, I understand not everyone likes gratuitous violence though.

I give Kingsman a par. I think the effects were cool. The plot was weak, and I didn't think Colin Firth had to die, but hey… whatever.

Rumor has it that Colin Firth may be alive again in the 2nd movie.

He looked pretty dead after that one scene, but that might have been makeup or something. I think he even did press work for the movie ... ;-)

I give Trainwreck a birdie. If you like Amy Schumer's comedy, you'll like this movie. It's a movie that tells a story with good characters that have funny moments, it's not just a collection of "bits" or skits. Mistake I think a lot of comedies get into.

I am going to give it a par with a sand save ... but I am far from a good movie critic.

I give Ant Man a par. It was good but not as good as the other Marvel movies. Thought they did a nice job with the effects and the characters but the story and the action was a little dull.

I liked Ant-Man, too. Another par from me. Aside from the bit where he has a run in with that guy from the 'A' team, it was a decent standalone story.

I had no idea Hans Landa is in the new Bond movie. Certainly makes it more interesting now. New Bond trailer.

Christopher Waltz was awesome in his roles for Inglourious Basterds and Django Unchained. I think he's a prefect fit to be a villain in Spectre.

    • My course Elizabeth Manor hosts the Eastern Amateur every year in July. The best 'kids' shoot like -8 each day from the tips, so I think US Open qualifier would end up a 2-3 shots better. Basically it would be a game of misses - birdie misses.
    • For what it's worth, I never took Bryson as a bad person. Now more so, he seems way more genuine now than he used to be. He just leaning into his personality, and I think that is a good thing because he is a very entertaining golfer. I find his YouTube channel entertaining. He just made a questionable business decision in joining LIV.  I mean, man props to Bryson here. Bryson, during the final round, between the 17th and 18th hole signed the hat of a disabled kid. He didn't have to go out of his way to do this. Same for Rory, Rory stopped on by as well to greet the kid. Mad props to Rory as well.
    • It's funny because the USGA through the FSGA definitely had a formula for what they wanted to see. They were very careful to set up a very fair test. They didn't tip it out, and they actually moved a few holes up from the black tees because they didn't like how a tree was blocking out one side of the fairway or that every par 3 was over 195. There was a mixture of easier and harder pin locations and the greens were cut to their specs.  In the end, I think they accomplished their goal of identifying the best golfers that particular day. Finally, I would highly recommend attendance at one of these events. It was very spectator friendly where you could get really close to some really good guys and see them work their way around the course. There are no ropes, its quiet, and there are no hordes of crowds to navigate. I think Charlie Woods, who had a security detail, had between 15-30 people hanging around but others like Kutchar and LeMieux, really flew under the radar.
    • I mean, everything is so complicated now with the US being in bed with the House of Saud for so long   I did enjoy his unbridled enthusiasm and the fact that he graciously chose not to criticize Rory for dipping out
    • Just curious, why don't you usually hit driver there? Downwind would typically help keep it a bit straighter, and it seems like laying back some would bring that right fairway bunker into play, right? Looks like the only penalty stroke hazard would potentially be way left, right?
