Two weeks since I last played, getting the hebe jibees   New clubs to boot

I was like this last week, went out and played Saturday with a high of 34, but it was a nice sunny day and the course was empty.

Ball-shriveling cold for the next two days does suck. Saturday's high is 47 but with rain in the forecast. It's going to take a monsoon to keep me inside.

My early optimism has taken a severe hit as we just received about five inches of snow. That crap isn't going anywhere fast.

Even the diehards balked over the weekend. Cloudy, in the 30's with a brisk breeze. The breeze was the killer. Looking forward, I don't see a break. I just hope it doesn't snow. That ends the season for good.

Quote

T’was the month of December and all through the land,
OnCore golfers were still hitting tee shots so grand
In the North, where the courses were closing up shop
There were cries of dismay as the rounds had to stop

They dreamed of their birdies, their eagles, and pars
While driving through snow dodging slip-sliding cars
They wondered, while buying a quart of de-icer
Why couldn’t the weather have stayed a bit nicer?

So here is an offer to you from Team OnCore,
The company making a promise of much M.O.R.E.
Holiday savings as high as the sky and
Free shipping regardless of how much you buy!

Oh thanks "OnCore"  I feel so much better now ...

Taking a job in North Carolina right out of college was the best decision I ever made...aside from asking my wife to marry me.

(That was for the extremely small chance she sees this post.)

I played in an annual 2-man 9-hole scramble yesterday.  It's a different type of format.  40 players, each in 2-man teams, and every team plays each hole at exactly the same time.  It's ready golf so step up and hit the ball when ready.  Yeah, it's crazy.  Only one person got hit though...and it was in the calf (no serious injuries in 12 years).

The caveat is that it's in mid-December and it's usually balls cold outside, which it was yesterday.  When my partner and I walked off #9 it was 33 degrees before the wind hit you!!  After 5 holes my swing was gone and my hands were shaking so much I couldn't make any putts.  We ended up around 4th or 5th place, though.  Lots of sh*t talking with buddies but it's a great time.

That will likely be my last time on the course until temps get back into the 40's.  Time to start working out in the hitting bay in the garage.

Come on down to Orlando for 12/28. I can add a tee time or 2 to our little outing.

Would love to.

Sadly winter depression started here on LI a lot sooner than years past, I usually play through December and end the season just about on the new year, but not in 2016, I haven't played in weeks, it was pretty much over on November 1st, a few chilly rounds since but nothing like previous years, total bummer.

Softy... I got 8 rounds in during November and one in December, and I live 6 hours north of you.

-15 windchill back in Ohio overnight. YIKES!!!

I love it. Nothing will ever seem cold again. The rest of the winter will be a walk in the park.

The funny thing about winter  is that enough time has passed that I've deluded myself into thinking I'll play really well the next time I get a chance.

    • Day 292: light day today. Mirror work, working on getting my hips more open in the downswing.
    • Day 135 (27 Apr 24) - played Bradford Creek today while waiting for the missus fly in from her extended visit with the grands.  Good day to stay focused as it was a hurry up (groups pressing from behind) and wait (groups taking their time ahead)…a good day to stay mentally in the game - play the shot and not get frustrated in the waiting…
    • Day 122: 4/27/24 Supposed to be a Stack training day but I was beat after yard work today. Practiced chipping and putting at The Creek. The practice green is pretty slow but the session went well.
    • Went to the range today and was cursing myself when I got there as I realized I forgot my phone. I added an earlier wrist hinge to the short backswing I was using last time practicing and ball strikes were really good for the most part. I'm heading back to Boston Thursday to see friends and family and have a couple of rounds planned so I'm hoping to keep this feeling.  Yesterday morning I weighed in at 232. My goal had been 230 but maybe now it's 220. I'll have to think about that. I feel so much better without the extra 90 lbs. from 2 years ago. Still a softl slightly less protruding belly so it might be time to go hard on eating better. Work in progress.
    • Day 7- Went to the range and hit a bucket. Also did some chipping and putting.
