Tiger Woods Master Catch-All Discussion

The author matters a tremendous amount. Tiger didn't trust and pay the SEALs who shared their experiences, and he definitely didn't trust and pay a reporter.

I think my point was missed.....would it have been any less of a breach of trust by HH if someone else authored a substantively identical book that was based on all the information that HH disclosed to the author?  The point being that even though the ESPN writer "wrote" the story, there were breaches of trust by Tiger's peeps that were sources of the story and that is similar to what HH did.......

Hank was his swing coach, in that role he was privy to information, events and conversations that others were not because of his business relationship with Tiger.  It's fairly common in such relationships that a non-disclosure / confidentiality agreement is put in place to legally ensure personal information is not sold or disclosed for personal gain.

Haney should not have authored the book or disclosed the information to anyone else, it was a violation of trust and very unprofessional.  Stevie is as guilty as Haney and Jordan is just not as good a friend as Tiger might have thought.

You're not comparing like things.

Who violated Tiger's trust in the ESPN story to the level of Hank Haney? Nobody. Not a soul. They didn't even sniff the general area.

He is still being paid by his sponsors even though he does nothing. The 1st billion dollar golfer and he's toast. I doubt he cares.

He wouldn't have accomplished half the things he's done if that were the case. The fact that he keeps pushing himself back early from injury after injury suggests that he cares pretty strongly.

Currently focusing on: Key 4 - shorter backswing.

I've never understood how a person in a non contact sport can get so many injuries. I suspect physical enhancement drugs could be a problem. What has he recently accomplished?

Really?  Back injuries are not all that uncommon.

With the speed that he swings at, and how many times a day for years, it is not a shock to me that he has injuries.

I think he cares as well. That being said, look at his GWR, he is beyond washed up. The fact that he thinks he can compete with the top 10 in the GWR is Laughable at best.

His GWR is based on being injured, not his golfing ability.  He's come back from injury and done quite well before, so there's no reason he can't again if he's healthy.

I doubt that the US Open will be his first tournament, but at least we know he'll be playing by then.

Hmm, I hope he's medically cleared

No way he is jumping right into tournament golf at Oakmont.

All signs pointing to a Wells Fargo or Memorial appearance for Tiger.

The question is, who has higher expectations.  Us or him?

Exactamundo. It feels abrupt. What do I know about his physical condition though? I just don't want to see another trunk slam on a weekday. I want the vintage old Tiger Woods back.

If Tiger trusts his swing and plays within his current physical capabilities, he can climb his way back to the top of the game. He did just that in the latter part of 2012 extending through 2013, so I have no doubt he can do it one more time. I am agnostic over whether Tiger will get there again, because he's only that Tiger for 18 months out of the last six years, and he wasn't that Tiger for only 18 months (at most) of the decade before that.

In the glimpses of Tiger playing golf that have leaked since he started hitting balls again, he's looked great. His swing is smooth, relaxed; almost effortless. We've seen that Tiger on the range prior to nearly tournament since 2010, but that swing tends not to follow him between the ropes. Too often, he abandons all notions of form, and instead resorts to clobbering the ball with violent lashes. Maybe he could get away with that in his mid-twenties, when he was in between the swings of Harmon and Haney, but he doesn't have the body for that anymore. Inevitably, he injures himself, and the reset button is hit once more. He's running out of pushes.

No we really don't know he will be playing by then; there was a deadline to register so he met the deadline. He can withdraw at any point before the tournament. This is just an administrative task that keeps the option of playing open at this time.
He is exempt from qualifying, but he still has to register - that is all that we know.

Players play, tough players win!

Fair point.

And this doesn't go against what you said, but for the record, he registered on April 4th according to the article, and the deadline is this Wednesday evening.

(I included the link in case anybody out there wants to register) :-P:beer:

I think this is precisely the point. I think he could play his range swing for another ten years, but he seems to throw that swing out the window on the first tee of the tourney.

    • I get kidney stones. So 100 oz of water every day. Some nights I drink 32oz between midnight and 6 Am. Which means I dont sleep much.
    • 46 (9 over) Short game and putts were awful!
    • 46+40 for an 86. I just need to play 9 holes on the range before each round. 🤣🤣🤣
    • I don’t measure my intake either. I generally have a black coffee, a bottle of soda, some sweet tea at home, and anything in between is water. An ice cold bottle of water is one of my favorite things. It feels like an immediate refresher for my body. I’ll admit that I need to drink a little more though.
    • For such a nice membership, there have been some bad incidents in the past few years.  We had someone voted out a couple of years ago over something he did and he harassed the board members for three months until he moved out of the area.   Generally they’ve tried to do things like tournament handicaps and identify certain people who they know should be lower and adjust it somehow.  I can understand not wanting to go thru something like the guy who was voted out again i emailed the pro who forwarded it to the handicap committee.  They are going to see what can be done.  I walked someone thru what happened and they are going to nudge him to post the score from the match and see what he does.  Since he didn’t put anything in the electronic scoring past 13, based on how he played 14 and 15 plus having to take bogey on 16-18 for after he left, he should post 83.  We’ll see if it’s even higher,   Since he was really even thru 13, then doubled 14 and parred 15 my guess is he really shot 75 being generous and giving him 2 pars and a bogey on the three holes he didn’t play.    i shot 88, getting 16 shots for my course handicap which is net even and I lost on 13.  We do brackets where handicaps should be within 4-5 of each other.  Most matches only have 1-2 shots as a difference between players  neither of us posted the score yet.  There was something in the match play rules about whether or not to post your score.  I couldn’t remember if we were supposed to or not.  I don’t think he was going to post that, because even with his inflated score it would be the lowest score in his recent 20. Lucky I didn’t because they want to see what he does post and they don’t want me posting so he can try to calibrate his score.
