John Daly plays golf with Jessica Alba, proves to everyone that chicks still dig the long ball

By Luke Kerr-Dineen

As part of the Mission Hills World Celebrity Pro-Am in China last week, Jessica Alba played golf with John Daly. Alba told Golf Digest back in 2007 that she's a 22 handicap, and that she can drive the ball 200 yards.

Pretty impressive, but still not quite as good as John Daly's distance off the tee, which Alba seemed equally taken by. Here's what she posted on Instagram six hours ago:

A few more pictures of Alba at the event:

I can't say I blame her, I'm always impressed (and a bit jealous) when I see a guy that can drive the ball over 300 yards.

I guess Jessica Alba is one of the few who doesn't get an automatic +2 on the 1-10 scale for wearing golf clothes/playing golf. Interesting. :)

When your already a 15 on a 1-10 scale it doesn't matter. She doesn't need a +2 but it does make me like her even more knowing she plays. It doesn't make her hotter cause she's already maxed out ;).

I like that outfit. Leaves room for the imagination. :-)

That's ridiculous, Daly looks like an Oompa Loompa (in more ways than one) and he's almost 6' tall.

Jessica Alba smokes. That makes her a dilemma for me. Do her from behind to avoid the cigarette breath? Or tough it out so I could see her face?

Two possible reasons:

  1. She's already nearly off the top of the scale so there is no room for the extra points, or,
  2. She's wearing a dude's shirt.  It doesn't fit terribly good (which is basically to say it's not tight enough) and it looks like all of my shirts.

P.S.  That picture of Yao and Daly is staggering.  When you see him amongst other NBA players you don't get a good enough feel for just how enormous the guy is.  Good lord.

Didn't know that.

That's a Plus 11 to a 1 in record time.

Yao Ming and Daly

Maximum club length by rule is 48".  Might as set up every one of his clubs from wedge to driver with a 48" club length.

She smokes?

In that case, the +2 gets her to a 4, or a 5 at most.

Definitely distracting. Love her expression on the drive. I would say she dressed like that because she is trying to be serious about her game.

Holy pituitary Batman. That is striking. Looks almost 1/3 taller than Daly. If he doesn't go to 48" on every club (using .25" or .125" length gaps), he should go near tabletop for his full swings (or at least the wedges) for better contact. Imagine the height of his 48" lob wedge.

    • Day 11: did mirror work for a while. Worked on the same stuff.
    • I'm not sure you're calculating the number of strokes you would need to give correctly. The way I figure it, a 6.9 index golfer playing from tees that are rated 70.8/126 would have a course handicap of 6. A 20-index golfer playing from tees that are rated 64/106 would have a course handicap of 11. Therefore, based on the example above, assuming this is the same golf course and these index & slope numbers are based on the different tees, you should only have to give 5 strokes (or one stroke on the five most difficult holes if match play) not 6. Regardless, I get your point...the average golfer has no understanding of how the system works and trying to explain it to people, who haven't bothered to read the documentation provided by either the USGA or the R&A, is hopeless. In any case, I think the WHS as it currently is, does the best job possible of leveling the playing field and I think most golfers (obviously, based on the back & forth on this thread, not all golfers) at least comprehend that.
    • Day 115 12-5 Skills work tonight. Mostly just trying to be more aware of the shaft and where it's at. Hit foam golf balls.
    • Day 25 (5 Dec 25) - total rain day, worked on tempo and distance control.
    • Yes it's true in a large sample like a tournament a bunch of 20 handicaps shouldn't get 13 strokes more than you. One of them will have a day and win. But two on one, the 7 handicap is going to cover those 13 strokes the vast majority of the time. 20 handicaps are shit players. With super high variance and a very asymmetrical distribution of scores. Yes they shoot 85 every once in a while. But they shoot 110 way more often. A 7 handicap's equivalent is shooting 74 every once in a while but... 86 way more often?
