Winter gloves yes or no?

As winter approaches here in Texas its time to get ready for the cold. Most golf courses are open throughout the winter because we don't really have to worry about snow. A lot of people go and play when the temp is in the 30's and 40's after the frost delay is lifted. Usually when i play i just wear a regular golf glove and keep hand warmers in my pocket. i have tried winter gloves before but i can't seem to find any i like. For me they seem to take away the feel form the golf club and it is an awkward fit when holding the grip. What are y'alls views on winter gloves?

I play with gloves on year around for hand protection from the sun. Hot, or cold I always wear a pair. Now if we are talking about keeping our hands warm in between shots, the best thing I know to do is visit your local discount store and purchase a matching set of barbecue mittens. You know, those big, no finger mits you would use when handling hot stuff when cooking out of doors. They are easy on and off, even if you are wearing a pair of golf gloves. First time folks see me wearing mine in cold weather, they tend to laugh a little. The second time they see me wearing them, they have their own pair. Go to the right store and you can get a pair for $2.00.  For a few dollars more you can put a hand warmer in each glove since there's plenty of room inside them.

I've never used gloves during the winter but my threshold is high 30s, no wind, so maybe I'm not playing in cold enough temps. But as each year passes, my hatred of winter growing, I finally used lycra gloves at the range this year and I found that it's not all that limiting. I think I saw Mickelson swing with lycra type gloves not sure because if it was cold or his arthritis.

Anyways, tl;dr I use the glove below. I already have a pair that I use for cycling, the glove below is for ice skaters.

The last time I was in the pro shop at the club I purchased a pair of FootJoy WinterSof gloves.  They are mostly black and it also came with a tee that fits on the outside of the glove.  I threw them in the bag just in case the one glove routine doesn't cut it.

I can play into the low 40s without gloves once I get going.  Lower than that, I use my rain gloves, which are pretty thin.  The hand warmers that @Valleygolfer showed are also good to keep the golf balls warm in your pocket.

I use these all the time.

Yep, I tend to use these when I play in the spring. Last year I was on a trip to the Pinehurst area to play golf. One of the days was high 30's with 10-15 mph winds. The guy in the shop pulled out the winter hats and hand warmers.

Ditto! I don't ever plan on playing in cold weather. If it happens due to weird temperatures during a golf trip, then I'll just live with out them.

Nope - but I've tried them.   I play into the 20's, and bought a regular leather golf glove for my right hand - just play with 2 normal golf gloves, not the heavy winter gloves.    Coleman propane cart heater helps with that  ...

Cold is relative, no? One person might think 40-50 is cold, another 10-20 is cold. I think 40s is fine if there's no wind or rain. Mid thirties on a sunny day is about my limit.

Now if the range has heaters, my threshold is lower. I can tolerate mid 20s with a good heater but would prefer to go to a bubble but there are none near me.

No gloves ever for swinging a club just wear mittens between shots when it's cold.

PSA: Captain obvious tip. Videoing yourself with black gloves, black top, black pants - hard to see the hands. If you're taking video, consider brightly colored gloves.

Played this past weekend (in SE Texas) and the weather was cold and windy for our part of the country.  I wore a regular golf glove on my left hand (I am right handed) and I have a pair of simple cotton gloves that I keep in my bag this time of year.  I wore the right hand glove when I was not swinging the club and then just kept  putting it back on.  Had I not had the extra glove, I believe I would have been miserable.  Older I get, the more my hands hurt in cold weather.  I think I could have gotten away with wearing my FJ rain gloves.  Probably been about the same.  Since I do wear both rain gloves when it is raining, I could probably wear the FJ winter gloves.  I just have never tried them.

Winter gloves definitely When I wear gloves my swing speed goes up from mid 80s to 100s I tend to get blister if I just use bare hands and this will cause my to swing to be slower

I have a pair of black FJ winter gloves. Dick's had Top Flite gloves for $5 today, so I bought one for my right hand (I'm right handed) just for cold weather.

@aviva Another Texas guy here. I have a pair of black FJ winter gloves and love 'em.  Best 20 bucks I've spent, though only needed them once thus far in Houston.
