Holy mother of pearl, @Zeph!! That's three of my favorite bands as well. Also like Between the Buried and Me. Do you like Stephen Wilson's solo stuff?

Do I ever. I was really tempted to putting Steven Wilson on the list. Love his solo albums, seen them all live and Raven is my favorite. The live shows of Raven and Grace were amazing.

I would have to agree.    Hopefully, you meant the real Van Halen version ... w/ DLR.

Ozzy solo stuff would be a close second (take your pick of which guitar player - all 3 of them are legend - as a fellow guitar player who still plays mostly all 80's metal, JEL is my fave)

After that, its just a mix of Dokken, Crue, Triumph, Ratt, Scorpions, Maiden, etc etc

You and Slice are cut from the same cloth that I am...I'm a product of the '80's scene but got my start in '77 when I saw Kiss at age 10.  Ozzy has had some amazing guitar players over the years, and except for RR, Sharron has done her best to squash all of them.  Jake was the one who influenced me the most, but there's no flies on any of them...

Yeahman ... KISS was the band that got me interested in music too - I was 10 in 1975 when I first heard them, and literally wore out my KISS Alive album.   Went to a buddy's bar mitzva (sp ?) a couple years later & they had a KISS tribute band ... never been to a concert or even saw live music before - it was the coolest thing.   I still remember I just stood by the PA speakers the whole time & was completely blown away - I thought to myself I could do that & bought an old Gibson Marauder guitar with paper route money the next week.    That day was one of the few defining moments in my life ...

Surprising lack of Metric on here. The only band that has ten consecutive years on my list of music I like. My general genre of preference changes so often. I guess that's unless you count movie scores, in which case Klaus Badelt still finds his way into my playlist regularly. But my favorite concert I ever went to deliberately was Colt Ford. So that has to count. And the top of my "concerts I should go to" is Zac Brown Band, listed elsewhere.

@Zeph , I'm actually partial to Insurgentes. I saw him at the show he did with Opeth, they played like 15 minutes from where I live. The clips from the new album sound amazing.

Id have to say it's a toss up between Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin. Dark side of the moon is one of the best albums of all time as is the wall but I guess you could say the same for zeppelin 1,2,3,4.... all of them.

No love for Houses of the Holy?

The .... was ment to include all of their albums. Basically I would say the same thing for Floyd animals is another great album.

Yeah but is Ummagumma? Is Atom Heart Mother? Not really...

... oh yeahaaah - that's usually the first song I play when I'm demo'ing gear at a guitar store.   Dudes behind the counter just nod and smile, but all the deathcore metalhead kids look over as if to say that's cool ... but wtf is Dokken ?!? :censored:

    • Lazarus Irons....top notch and way cheaper than the big brands.
    • I know you guys were discussing this like a year ago. But, ironically I just had this discussion with my brother-in-law. We literally just did one of these. I'd always used the "Slow-Cook, Rest, and Sear" Method. But my bother-in-law was convinced the "5-Min/lb, 500 degree" method was the way. So, we gave it a go. I have to say it came out great.  I have a 25 year old, electric oven, GE brand... Not sure if that matters, but it came out great. ... Of course we stressed that nobody was to open the oven.   I don't make these all that often so, I'm not sure if I can fully recommend one method or the other, because without doing a Pepsi Challenge, I'd say both ways come out great. 👍😁👍
