Not sure what's so hilarious about it. I thought he was pretty spot on. He wasn't ridiculing Tiger. He was just pointing out that he's not as straight on his drives as he is his irons. I tend to agree with him. He's still not where he needs to be with his driver. Really needs to focus on getting that part of his game straightened out. That drive on 18 was bad and cost him a good round.

I also agree with Brandel, that tilt and dip that Tiger has is not helping his game at all. Looks more like the swing of a long drive competitor than a PGA Tour professional.

Well it's hilarious to me because Brandel is, in my opinion, completely missing the boat on what's causing Tiger to struggle and is just trying to find something random to nitpick about his swing so that he has something to talk about. But in reality the increased lateral bend (same thing as what some people call secondary tilt) is a good thing for Tiger's swing and also protects the back more and if there is a mechanical flaw in his swing right now, that certainly is not it. I personally believe his issues have to do with how hard he's trying to swing left on every single shot. He claims he's trying to swing more like his old 2000 swing, but with how far left he's swinging right now he's unknowingly setting himself up for a more flippy/roll release and is actually getting further away from his old swing than he was with Foley. One of the main things that made his swing back around 2000 so good was how stable his release was, specifically how long the face stayed square in the hitting area before closing. What he's doing now has his release pretty much the farthest away from his prime as he's been at any point in his career.

You're welcome to disagree with me of course, this is is just my opinion

I respectfully disagree with you on that. Tiger has ALWAYS had a noticeable "dip" in his swing. At certain points in his career it has been more pronounced than others, but I have never seen any correlation whatsoever between that and how well he plays. If he tried to get rid of it, not only would he lose some power, but he would also be changing an aspect of his swing that has been a constant throughout his entire career and every single swing change he's ever made. Trying to get rid of something ingrained that deeply in your muscle memory is extremely difficult and would probably lead to massive inconsistency due to Tiger being in a constant battle with his mind/body which would be trying to go back to it.

Edit: Sorry if I just broke the rules by double posting, I haven't been on a forum in a while and wasn't really thinking. Won't happen again

who the hell is Fathauer?

Local guy here in Martin county Florida. Actually won the web.com tour total last year on the last week. Has a twin that played too, went to Louisville. He is good and takes time to learn courses. Came thru the tour, back to web and now at it again...

I didn't get to see much golf yesterday, just some highlights on the GC. I was amazed at how many really good golfers took on the water at 18.

Tiger coming undone.

I didn't say the wheels are coming off, but I did say to expect a rusty performance this week. And from the looks of today, that's exactly what it is so far.

It was Dave's comment above that I had sorta remembered. Not that Tiger necessarily was firing on all cylinders, but he did get back to under par yesterday after some shaky play (until he double-bogey on 18!).

Round 2 seems shaky as well so far, but he just blistered a great drive on 14, which may give him some confidence.

Thought this was interesting. #18 still playing to a higher stroke average than 16, despite being a bit shorter, and having a lower par value. They are both essentially par 4.5 holes.

Ouch- Kaymer just putted it from 65ft well off the green and down into a swail.  Insult to injury is that he was still away- by a long shot. Then chipped up for tap-in bogey. Just your average GIR, 2-putt bogey.

Anyone have some insight on what happened to Luke Donald? He looks like the next coming of Mike Weir. Every time I check him out on a leaderboard he's near the bottom.

I suspect he stopped playing so good....   ; )

On a separate note - I am SO GRATEFUL that the announcers are letting me know that the guys' hits are "golf shots".

if they wouldn't say so, I'd have no clue and might confuse them with badminton shots, or bowling shots, or tequila shots

it's excessively annoying

I've never heard an announcer talk about a 'hockey shot', or a 'baseball homerun', or a 'football interception', or a 'Hey, that was a nice tennis forehand'

LMAO ... totally agree.

Football does have an equivalent though ... the analysts on ESPN like Dilfer and Merril Hoge - pay attention to how often they insist on saying "National Football League" instead of just freaking saying "NFL" or even "the league."  You're an NFL analyst on an NFL show ... I know which league you're talking about already!!

Thanks Captain Obvious ;-) I was hoping on a golf forum there'd be a little more than that, but I'm sure I can live without knowing why.

I think the league has that in their TV contracts that they say the full title. It might be a trademark issue (since there are some weird things that go on with usage of a trademark). We've got a great football team. That was a great football game. He's a great football player.[/quote] See, that's my problem. When I see Tony Romo interviewed, I want to hear if Doug Free is a good cricket player and I don't know how I'd ever find out.
