Curious as to what the badge for last month's challenge will look like and when it will appear.

Like that.

Worked on my putting and pitching tonight. I've been struggling on my inside 15 putts. I found I was aiming my clubface right, but I was aligning my body to the left (open) to much. I created a putting station where I was putting left to right putts, because I struggle on those as well. I laid down some alignment rods to help with my feet alignment. Just worked on hitting my starting lines with good setup.

Well it was raining here Phx today, but did manage to get some time in with extending my arms after impact and not doing the chicken wing thing ... I produce more chicken wings than KFC some rounds.

Hour workout.  Orange whip warm up.  Some weighted club swings (I know, but not using it for speed but it is double weighted so more like a weight work out).  Hit into my net.  9i, 8i, 7i, 5h, Driver.  Then some chips and pitches.  Then hole simulation.  Driver followed by either 5h, 7i or 8i.  More swings with no ball after followed by jump rope.

Did some drills in the living room with a 9 iron. I really need to get a new net because I've already made a few holes in the current one.

I realize it isn't strictly a fundamental, but today I'm checking my grip. I'm not really sure how to practice my grip beyond taking it a lot more carefully (and time-consumingly, as is necessary) than I do at the golf course and going back to A3 or A4 with it. A little over a year ago, Mike made some grip changes for me and I want to make sure I'm still doing them right. Edit Oops, this broke the rules as is, since I posted it before, not after. Either way, I've done five minutes now, so this is the declaration that I've done so. I will do more, but I wanted to ensure I correctly marked for the contest too.

Today I worked on hitting out of the "rough" in my backyard into my net. Lately when I get in the rough I try to do something special (I'm not exactly sure what I'm trying to do and my swing is "special" enough normally). So I just worked on my mindset of making my usual mistake. Trying to cure a lot of tops and thin hits out of the rough. Cool thing happened though when I was going to the net in the backyard I came around the corner of the house and an adolescent black bear was in the yard. He took off like a shot but it was cool getting to see one so close. Had one that hung around the woods last summer but never got to see it too close up.

Played 16 hitting two balls, but not chipping or putting. Focused on 1) feeling like I am standing upright on the backswing (before I was dipping my head towards the ball)and 2) the right wrist and feeling like I am dealing cards.

I probably should have joined the fun as I do at least a few minutes of mirror work every day. Oh well, next month.

    • Day 37, June 10.  Today was primarily WFH, so I had several practice sessions (indoors, off a mat, into the net).  At least one each of U, 9, and 6-iron full swings with the usual priority.   I also tried a few times a putting type stroke with my 4H, as something I should probably learn how to hit (and what it does), but the mechanical shot at home off a mat doesn't tell me much of what it's doing.  That's something I should probably try on a real green, not during a round until I've tried it.
    • Day 10 (10 Jun 26) - Played in the midweek shootout at my home course - on aerated and sanded greens - day of trying to figure tempo to get the best roll on the greens.  Approach game was decently solid as was shots off the tee.
    • Ok, I'm trying to find a feel to hit a consistent ball flight (irons).  My current predicament.  1. I try to do the arms down stuff better, with the club feeling like it is way behind me more. It's just a cluster of results. Most of the time, I can't get any speed on the swing. If I get my arms down faster, I just throw them out.  2. I focus all my attention on turning better. Pushing off with my left leg and getting my right side through better. On the DTL view, this doesn't produce anywhere close where the hands and club should be. The result is usually ball first contact, lower ball flight, more centered contact.  At this point, I am going with option 2. Stop thinking about what the hands do. Just make a shorter backswing, keep it wide, turn through. Somehow, the club head finds the ball. My focus is so much on just making sure I turn, it's like, "Oh, that contact was better.... Oh, that bell flight looks playable." If not, I will just be practicing my entire summer.
    • Nope, they spent too much money. They are in over 28 million on the football roster and related NIL compensation at this point. Boosters associated with any Texas college football team has HUGE sway. The AD is between a rock and a hard place. They put a lot of money into Sorsby, at the chance of winning a NC this year. If you move on, you basically wasted a lot.  This is why Ohio State wants 3 QB's they feel can start. That is why the backups the past 5 years at some point transfer. Texas Tech has no backup near the quality of Sorsby. If they move on, they are screwed for 2026.
    • Maybe there's something I still don't understand about the situation. Wouldn't Texas Tech do itself a favor to move on from Sorsby at this point?
