Practiced swing indoors for 15 minutes prior to my lesson.  Really working on having my left elbow fold after impact and not chicken wing.  It had gotten to the point of being a little above straight, but not causing any real problems.  I have been really working hard this past week on it.  On video review at my lesson, first time it was slightly under straight, with a slight bend....... :dance: This with 7i.  Video of 4h was basically the same.  Swing looks good, just fine tuning.  The next big step is taking it to the course.  Last 9 holes were bogey average.  1 par, one double, rest bogey.  No really bad shots, just missed a few greens and two putted.  Need to work on accuracy with my approaches to the green.  Gotta say, practicing every day has made a big difference.

I´ve practised my backswing in my room, just need to get the right feeling for the top of the BS, with the club not falling and my shoulders turning away from my objetctive.

I'm posting this shortly after midnight at the start of July 2, but the five minutes in question happened on July 1 (albeit very close to midnight). I'm saying this in case I've somehow run up against the "no backdating" rule by posting this shortly after midnight on July 2. Watched myself A3 to A4 to A5, slowly, in the mirror. My position at A4 with a mid-iron doesn't look like I had thought it does, meaning I might have been misinterpreting my lag amount when looking at my videos. I'd worry about this, but there's a new evolvr analysis available for me, and I'll work on what Stephan will have me work on.

I am not sold on someone trying intentionally to keep a flat wrist through the impact area. This undoubtedly happens through impact in all professional golf swings. With that said I look at the physics of the golf swing and arrive at the conclusion that this is a reaction to something else they are attempting to do.

I personally believe they are trying to deliver the shaft on a slightly lower plane than their address position. In conjunction with that they are actually pulling the butt end of the club towards them. As a matter of fact they have to be pulling against the momentum of the club head through impact. The "result" is the club staying square for a longer period through the impact area, and the club head releasing low and left. Pulling the club towards themselves for a split second is the only way to harness the amount of energy these guys can put on a golf ball.

I think this is one of the most interesting videos on what is actually happening during the downswing. This may help out a bit.

Pay particularly close attention to minute 10:50 to 11:30. I think this is one of the most misunderstood concepts in the golf swing.

5 minutes mirror work.  Back swing to A4 and then to A6. All slow.

@Tommyt99

This thread is just for posting your practice.  Please start another thread if you want to discuss flat left wrist at impact.

Thanks for posting the video.[/SPOILER] On topic, I spent a nice 2 hours on the range working on drill swings and regular swings while observing that the lead wrist is flat all the way through the swing.

Spent 5 minutes working on my right hand grip. Slid the hands closer together, heel of the right hand more on the meat of my left, rather than on the thumb. I keep tearing open a chunk of skin off my left thumb and it's annoying, not to mention hurts like hell. I have an extra grip I'll keep with me throughout the evening and keep working on this periodically.

Mirror work, focusing on my left knee as well as the A1 -> A5 piece of the swing.

    • For such a nice membership, there have been some bad incidents in the past few years.  We had someone voted out a couple of years ago over something he did and he harassed the board members for three months until he moved out of the area.   Generally they’ve tried to do things like tournament handicaps and identify certain people who they know should be lower and adjust it somehow.  I can understand not wanting to go thru something like the guy who was voted out again i emailed the pro who forwarded it to the handicap committee.  They are going to see what can be done.  I walked someone thru what happened and they are going to nudge him to post the score from the match and see what he does.  Since he didn’t put anything in the electronic scoring past 13, based on how he played 14 and 15 plus having to take bogey on 16-18 for after he left, he should post 83.  We’ll see if it’s even higher,   Since he was really even thru 13, then doubled 14 and parred 15 my guess is he really shot 75 being generous and giving him 2 pars and a bogey on the three holes he didn’t play.    i shot 88, getting 16 shots for my course handicap which is net even and I lost on 13.  We do brackets where handicaps should be within 4-5 of each other.  Most matches only have 1-2 shots as a difference between players  neither of us posted the score yet.  There was something in the match play rules about whether or not to post your score.  I couldn’t remember if we were supposed to or not.  I don’t think he was going to post that, because even with his inflated score it would be the lowest score in his recent 20. Lucky I didn’t because they want to see what he does post and they don’t want me posting so he can try to calibrate his score.
