When you make a post specifically to be an ******* to someone, and nothing else, I have no hesitation in deleting it. If you want to debate politics, fine. Debate to your heart's desire. But if your goal in a post is a call someone names or insult someone, either don't post it or expect it to be deleted. All we ask for is civility. It's essentially our only rule.

Posts will only get deleted if:

  1. They contain SPAM. Usually Huddler catches these for us is a URL is linked, but members flag them too.
  2. Offensive posts that contain name calling and abusive language.
  3. Off topic posts.
  4. Malformed posts created when a user replies inside a quote instead of outside the quote box. This makes it impossible for the reply to be seen in follow up quotes.

I believe the post you are referring to fell into #2 and #4 in the IRS thread. You had one malformed post and one that was seen as abusive. You can't, repeat, can't be abusive to another poster no matter what they do or write. We will take care of their post if it is abusive. By responding abusively, you fall right into the pattern that creates flame wars. Even if you don't see us call out or respond to the abusive poster, we do see it and often PM them.

So I read your BANNING PEOPLE THAT DISAGREE. Does it answer the question "what if you get MANY threads that Attack the poster because they just don't like what he's saying. Does the poster have the right to defend what he's saying or do others have more of a right to attack with threads that have absolutely nothing to do with the thread posted and are simply personal attacks

Yes, it is a great forum we have here. It's because we take the time to clean threads up and push people to be civil to each other. You won't see gigantic flame wars on our forums. We have one real rule around here, and that's don't be an *******. Stick to that and you're good. If you can't disagree with someone without taking it personally and attcking others, then I'm sorry. It's not them, it's you. If you have to make personal attacks in your posts, then I'd suggest you save yourself some trouble and just don't do it, because it will be flagged and it will be deleted.

Be civil --

Even if someone is pressuring you or will not let an issue die, let it go.

Examples:

accusing someone of having "IBS" (irritable bowel syndrome)

calling them a "golf idiot" or living in a fantasy world...

even if in humor, apparently not all humor translates on the internet, so despite the temptation to make light of a situation, don't do it.

This is "Pot" calling the kettle "Pot."

I think the chip on your shoulder has a chip on it's shoulder. Relax a bit. This is not one of those forums that allows each other to be our throats in a juvenile manner or provoking people. Articulate not antagonate.

This is about as civil and well-moderated as a forum can get, jcjim. Pretty much the only thing you have to do to stay in good standing is not be a jerk. It can be difficult (there are members I dislike intensely as well) but it serves you and the forum to be the bigger person.

Let me apologize now to jcjim and any others who may have been offended for saying that I could not take him more seriously if he were wearing clown shoes.  That was not an appropriate way to disagree with his remarks.

I like this forum very much, and part of disagreement is learning, even if you don't agree it gives you different perspectives to think about and try and understand and why people would have them.  I think the moderators do a great job here and I think this forum is managed very well.

jcjim, hopefully you are not a troll and can take a few steps back and see what people are saying, and come back with a better approach (as I am trying to do right now as well).

NO, people have gotten banned, which rarely, rarely ever happens, because they behave poorly, not because they disagree. That's pretty obvious if you read that thread.

That post would probably get someone banned no matter what forum it was posted on. I had one poster antagonize me for quoting someone else. I defended myself. Both posts were deleted and solved via a PM. The poster and I chalked it up to a misunderstanding. I thought it was handled perfectly. I felt like buying beers for the 3 of us afterwards. :)

I may be wrong, but this does not seem like the place for you.  Just not a good fit.

But then again, what the hell do I know?

    • Thanks but honestly… I don't know any other way. I don't mind being wrong so long as I know where to go from there. I don't like being wrong — I'd love to get things right (which is different than "being right"). I recommend grabbing a furniture slider or a paper plate or something, and doing something like this: First, make a swing where you let your trail foot swing out as you turn, then twist that foot back in. From DL and FO, it'll look like this: Then, during a regular backswing, try to twist your foot in slightly (demonstrated in the left image): You'll notice a crease along the trail side of your hip, your pelvis will "fold" into that thigh (internal rotation of the hip joint), and your "bits" will be squished a little between your pelvis and your thigh. Ben Hogan said once: "At the top of the back swing the groin muscle on the inside of your rt [sic] leg near your right nut will tighten," Hogan wrote. "This subtle feeling of tightness there tells you that you have made the correct move back from the ball." I don't know about that, but you will probably feel something down around that area.
    • Yep. I think it will start to feel even more athletic when we start on the downswing stuff later.  I know, it's just I want to be younger so I have more time to enjoy the changes. 🙂
    • I need to drop a couple of stone. 🙂 😛    Yep. Yeah, but in the end, it feels more athletic, like you're actually using your legs, yeah? As you know… we use the best available info we have. Like others, I was fooled a little by 2D images for awhile (moving or still). Unlike others, I've learned and grown and moved on since then, while they're still looking at their images (often from lousy camera angles).
