What'd You Shoot Today?

Shot a 95 today.  Bad penalty on a par 3, but great par on a very long par 5.

trending 24.3 right now, but one more round and a 122 drops off.

Gamed a horrendous 95 on Sunday at Butternut Farm in Stowe, MA.  The worst round of the season by far.  Started off well with a 30 foot putt for par from the fringe but downhill from there.  However, I just got fit for a set of TM P790's from Club Champion and I felt the benefits immeditiately.  Par 3's have been my lifelong downfall and I faced a few longer holes (171 , 185) where I was able to play that distance without feeling like I had to kill the ball.  I went from D5 swingweight irons with S300 stiff shafts to D0 with steel fiber i95 regular shafts.  However, as the round went on a bunch of stupid crap bothered me.  There were some loud golfers out there, screaming when a putt buzzed by a hole etc, the grounds crew just mows no matter what you are doing, how close you are, a number of random tree branches hanging right at the best place off a tee box, and all that jazz just made me angry.  I ended up shanking two shots which I haven't done in years.  I was fuming.  It's all between the ears.

44 today, actually played well, but inexplicably three putted 3 times. Time for some putting practice.

Played round 1 in my league today.  Played against the guy who won my flight last time, where I came in last.

Lost 5-4, but had every chance to win, except I didn't take them.

Shot a 51, with two snowmen.  Yuck.

93 at Wigwam Blue in AZ.  Hit more fairways off the tee than in a long time.  Not more that 2 puts per hole as I had no first putts over12 - 15 feet.  No major penalties of shots in the rough rough.  Yes, some good luck played a factor!

Shot a 44-44=88 at Turkana Golf Course near E. Liverpool, OH. At least I'm consistent!

As I detailed in the "Uplifting Topic" thread above, this is an extremely hilly course, with large, very fast greens that are heavily contoured. I can't putt them! I 3 putted a ton, and a 2 putt was cause for celebration. Hit a lot of "shepherd's crook" putts today.

I could read them, the problem was getting the speed right.

A 90 at my home course.  9 on first hole, a par-4... snap-faded my second shot to the rough near the second tee box, somehow thought it was 125 yards from the green I was aiming at (WTF) so I hit a great 9-iron that didn't sniff in-bounds.  sigh.  Ton of bogeys, a birdie, not many pars (had a streak of them on holes 9-10-11, which was nice, and another at hole 15).  I think I only had four pars plus a birdie, and two of the four pars were on holes I'd describe as "nemesis holes."  Second nine, had a double and a triple on par-3s.  Learned a lot of what to not do in anticipation of next week's club championship.  My birdie (hit a tee shot to a foot on hole 3, a par-3) was worth $98 though (mostly in the skins game, plus closest to pin), so that was cool.

It's sort of a lifetime injury deal. It is what it is...right now I'm feeling pretty good.

Shot 44 yesterday, a big improvement for me.  8 bogies and pars, plus a triple, thanks to pulling a drive and losing the ball.

ball striking was terrible today and hitting only 2 FW on the front didn't help.

I shot myself in the foot today.

I could not hit any club.  If I had 10 good shots, that would be a lot.

I know it will all be OK and everything will work out, but I walked off the course ready to sell my equipment.

I actually stopped recording my score after 6 holes because it was going so badly and said to myself "just hit the next shot".  Nope.

On a positive note, my Fiancee beat my ass and she had a great day.

I had my best round yet on Sunday. A +13 round of 84 (42-42) at my local track.  This was with 36 putts, another poor performance in that regard.  Also, this was the first round that I played without losing a ball.  This was also my first triple free round and nearly was double free (only had one).  All in all, I am thrilled that my game is heading in the right direction (minus putting).  I attribute the scores to my much improved driving and generally playing within my abilities especially on par 5's.

82 on Friday - local course in WI that's normally nice.  It was pristine.  Still the cigarette butts and unrepaired ball marks just make me think golfers are assholes.  Fairways and greens like carpet though.  Kudos to the maintenance staff (and the recent rains)

77 yesterday a couple birdies on front both with good hybrid approaches on par 5's - about 3 groups in front of us were a pair of fat good old boys.  empty course past them and stacked up behind them.  Complete jerk on one of them, the other simply oblivious to the pace of play and inconvenience to the rest of the course.  No idea, lots of bluster.  Apparently one group played a couple holes with them and the one guy was mumbling about the groups behind and talking threats if they dare to hit up.  cliche and stereotype all in one

39 (+4) in men's league last night, which ties my best round there I believe.  Unfortunately I finished on a Bogey-Bogey-Bogey train at the end where I pulled all of my tee shots on those holes leading me to lose a shot in each case (I did have a couple other pulls throughout the day, but they weren't as damaging to my score).  I had a very good mental game though, I focused, got my pre-swing routine down and pictured the shot I wanted to hit and performed so it was a very easy-going round overall.
