Took time off to visit family in Iowa and got to play Thursday and Friday.  Honey Creek is a gem I found last year with an amzing back nine the descends into and out of a gorgeous valley which gives very cool holes.  Then they recommended TCI to me.

The Tournament Club of Iowa - What a great course!! (Arnold Palmer signature course)  beautiful, clever, challenging golf, the front 9 is seriously a special run, but the whole course is amazing.  Deer or hawks on most holes.  It's in my top 7 row of favorites (the logo ball rack is 7 by 7, this one is on the top row) after just one visit.  (only issue is the players and members CLEARLY don't value this gem as the greens were full of ball marks and cigarette and cigar butts all over - they really need to appreciate such a great gem of a course better.  I'd fix 3 or 4 per green, then just give up, frankly as I was not hindered in my pace at any point.  Friendly staff and golfers, though.)  Penalties devastated what would have been a spectacular score for me on this course.

a couple birdies on each course, even a two-putt birdie on a TCI short par 4 (card says 300, but it was playing around 260 that day) - Finally some birdies this year.  I'm glad I challenged the weather each day as both days turned out great.

I just played 9 holes with a friend. The course is only a 9 hole course, it is rather short (Par 36, 3200 yds), but I just played magnificently. Hit all 9 greens in regulation, made 2 birdies and an eagle. Could have easily been 2 or 3 shots better, as I missed some 6-10 footers. It was a great day ;)

Played my home course earlier today. Had 30 putts, which helped with the 39/39---78 I carded. I even made a bird on a par 4 which is rare for me.

Have to give TST some credit for that bird. I had some time between shots and was answering a TST notification. When it was my time to hit, I hit submit, and stuck a 155 yarder about 3' from the pin. Who'd a thought.

Really nice course, best of the three at Championsgate and to top it off it was the least expensive.

89 at Thorpe Wood in Peterborough, UK. It's standard Scratch score is 71. It's a long course and I'm a very short hitter (sadly), so bogey golf is fine by me for now.

My game is all over the place ?

Shot a 75 then 76 and then I had the pleasure of shooting a freaking 88. Two 8s on the scorecard where I seemed to forget what golf is.

7 pars and a birdie throughout the round. I struck the ball with my irons extremely well (played under par on the par 3s.)

I just drove the ball so poorly. I need to figure that issue if I want to continue playing well

38 for the front nine at Woldingham in the UK.  Never played there before and a double bogey on the first wasn't a great start but then managed 1 birdie 1 bogey and the rest pars.  Summer is definitely arriving over here and it is such a novelty to see a drive bounce and run after it hits the fairway, instead of embedding itself in the mud!

Played a shorter and easier course (65.9/111/5584) than my home course (71.4/133/6511) today. Broke 100 for the first time since starting this up again with a 94 compared to my usual 102-104. I was generally  straight off the tee with reasonable distance, but a few flubs and missed putts. I felt good and confident throughout the round.

Last weekend I had an 18 hole playing lesson with my instructor and that has made a huge difference in my thinking.

77 (+5) today. Had it to -1 through 12, but then back-to-back doubles on 13 and 14 derailed me. It was a beautiful day though and the company was great (my playing partners shot 72 and 83) so I can't complain. I feel like I am close to going really low but I have to eliminate the occasional loose drive and dial in my short putts first.

Oy, 81-83 over the weekend.  Nothing was awful, but nothing was consistently good.  No excuses on the greens, they're coming back from aerification really nicely, just a little slow.  On the other hand, the rain all week has kept the mowers in the barn, and the rough is long, wet, healthy, and impossible.  And I didn't hit enough fairways.  :surrender:

On the plus side, I walked and carried my bag both days, and my legs are getting back closer to golfing shape.  A couple of TSTers have played here, and they understand what a tough walk I have up and down the hills.

91 sunday.  Played from the red tees to try and break 90.  My playing partner normally plays the whites, I play the blues.  He normally shoots 83-85 and shot an 89.  So the reds had there own difficulties.  If I do it again I would play it a lil differently and would not be in bunkers from tee shots, etc.  Though all in all played well, just had a few holes get away from me, one triple and 3 or 4 doubles.

*i Expect Nobody to Read this, vent ahead lol:

Good gawd today was rough. Started out with a par and then on the second hole myself and my buddy both hit our tee shots right on a sharp dogleg right hole. Both unfamiliar with the course so I hit a provisional, got in in the fairway. My cart partner was over where I hit my provisional so I assumed my buddy would take a look for my ball. I told him it was a TM #2 etc. Anyway he finds his and I ask if he see's mine. He says no. Ok, I play out my provisional. When we put out I say "That sucks to lose a brand new Taylor Made ball, like that." He then goes, "Oh you were hitting Taylor Made? I thought Titleist! It's in the cart." Face palm. I carded the 6 and told him to forget it. I should have looked on my own, lesson learned! I managed to rebound mentally and shake it off and was 3 over total until the 9th hole including the double previously mentioned. (I'm an 12hc and this is a pretty tough course slope 132, windy, cold) so this was good for me.

I have 150 to the pin on a the 9th par 3. Loads of green behind and a stream in front. Pin is at the front. What do I do? Go pin hunting of course and drown it. I actually hit it well but it got up in the wind, hence why I should have given myself more room for error.  I drop and hit too quick and hit it in the hazard again but not in the water. Now the ball is nestled down in the rocks and for some reason instead of taking an unplayable I try and hit it. It goes nowhere and I have to now take the unplayable. I knock that one on the green finally and two put for an EIGHT! 44 front.

The double on the second hole I was able to overcome but the 8 on number 9 I couldn't. Game went to crap and I shot 50 on the back. When things started going bad, I reverted to bad swing habits and made bad choices in club selection.

So 94 and although the score is bad, I'm mostly mad at myself for letting it get to me like that. All self inflicted. I am usually pretty good about grinding it out (yesterday ground out a 90 in way worse conditions on a harder track. 47-43. Maybe I just didn't have the energy to do it again. That 8 just took all wind out of my sails. I apologize if anyone bothered to read this pity post.

Played Member-Member Tournament at my club today, which is a two-person best ball gross and net.

Shot 36-38-74, came in tied for 4th gross and 2nd net.  Shot 38 on the back 9 without a par. 4 birdies, 4 bogeys and one double.

    • Day 206 3-11 Focused on wider backswing and reconnecting arm in downswing. Wasn't really happy with how swing was looking today. Wider backswing is very different for me. Went back to do a some longer pauses at the top. Hit a few foam balls.
    • This is an awesome breakdown. most of the bigger tournaments usually have one wave with the advantage, Thank you for the breakdown. If it is soft then it will be a lower final score
    • Over the past 15 years, the winning score has ranged from -10 to -20. Mostly around -13.  Here is Thursday and Friday weather. Saturday and Sunday weather. I think the course will play soft. Plenty of sky cover, lots of rain on Thursday. Fairways and greens will probably stay soft throughout the week.  In terms of tee times, I think Thursday morning and Friday afternoon have the biggest advantage. I am excited to see who can handle it and who cant. Last year we got a foreshadowing of JJ and Rory, I am excited for this year Who do people have winning? what will the winning score be? I am thinking 12 or 13 under
