My driver is a Taylor made Burner 10.5 (a hand me down from my son) and my irons are Tour Blazers (30 year old Maxfli knock downs). I love all of them. I am a scratch player and can put the ball where I want. If I ever get new irons, they would be Mizunos.

G30 driver and mx-25 irons. However, today my order was placed for some new g-30 irons and glide wedges. I like the mizunos but they are old, and I rented some g-20s in maui and loved them. During my fitting I really enjoyed the new irons so I am super stoked.

Mizuno JPX825 irons

Question for the OP ... if you are scratch, why not upgrade your gear ?    If I was that good, I'd surely  want the best gear / most modern technology available to get the best out of my game... but then again, at that level, it's the indian not the arrow.

My driver is a Taylor Made R1, which I bought used for $80.

My irons are Adams Idea, which I bought used for $200.

I've thought about buying some new/fitted clubs, but at this point, I think lessons would be a better use of money.   Besides, I like these clubs.

What if the Mizuno irons are not the best fit for your game? I would keep an open mind. You never know what you might find out when you get fitted for irons.

I have a 2009 Callaway Big Bertha driver and Mizuno MP 59 irons.

Agreed. I hesitate to buy new stuff thinking it's a 3rd order component at best. But a scratch golfer might see a few more birdies with the best wedges and drivers....

PS: I use the same driver Ricie Fowler does, but surprisingly I don't get the same kind of value out of it!:hmm:

I use old Taylor Made clubs from eBay and golf shops.

TM R11 driver with some Miyazaki tour issue exotic shaft. I keep trying to kick it out of the bag but can't.

716 T-MB (2-4) and MB (5-P) irons. Just got them and they're just phenomenal. The AMT shaft (also tour issue) is fantastic.

    • Contact is getting better. Swing path is still too inconsistent. Pushes and over draws. Sometimes some pull draws. I got to get this downswing path figured out.
    • I’m really glad he won now! From Golf Digest
    • It's really hard to argue against the Tiger Woods 2000 swing.  I like Rory's swing. And, I've always liked Joaquin Niemann's swing. Although, if I tried to mimic Niemann's swing I'd probably end up in traction for 2 months. I was kinda bummed when he went to LIV cuz I almost never see it anymore.  At the other extreme, I can't look at Bryson when he plays. Even if it's very effective, it's coyote-ugly to watch.  I'd rather watch Charles Barkley than Bryson. ....
    • Thank you for that information,I would have loved to see him in person
    • I think he was always kind of like that - he hit it off the planet relatively frequently throughout his career. I saw him play a couple of times. One time at Walton Heath in the European Open. He was playing the 13th on the Old (dogleg right par 5) and his drive had gone through the fairway and found a patch of grass in the woods there to the left (the woods have now gone). He had an opening to play back to the fairway. Maybe 25 yards to reach the fairway and 65 yards to run through the other side. He was maybe 230 yards away from the green, but the trees made sure that was not a viable option (at least that's what I thought at the time). He pulled out a pretty long iron - probably a 3 and gave it a full blooded thrash. I watched this ball come out straight for about 40 yards and then it just turned hard left, but stayed in the air (still not sure how he did that). He started the ball at a point that must have been 100 yards right of the green and hooked it basically that whole 100 yards and the ball wound up on the front of the green.  Shotmaking he was pretty much peerless. Not sure his swing was ever technically solid. Flowing and fun to watch yes, but not one you'd want to copy.  As to the question, I have heard a few people suggest that Mickey Wright had the best swing ever. Frank Nobilo had a pretty sweet looking one. Bruce Lietzke's was pretty cool - he managed to maintain PGA Tour playing rights with basically little to no work on his game - got to be a lot said for that.
