I'll say 2 under.

Here's where opposite tees become interesting. The first players off in the third round won't be the backmarkers; it will be those in the middle of the pack. If this course only becomes more difficult as the day goes on, someone teeing off early and shooting under par could make a huge jump on the leaderboard.

I don't think it's gonna get that much tougher. They interviewed one of the guys from the USGA earlier and he doesn't think the greens will pick up that much more speed. The humidity is growing in the air. The third round will be the toughest round. The fourth round the USGA traditionally sets the course up more for scoring. You'll see 3 or 4 holes that will be reachable in one.

I'll say -2 leads it after today. With the setup tomorrow, -4 wins it.

I'll break some news (unless it was announced on TV already, I'm on the course). Oakmont is getting 2025 Open.

I feel like I've heard that, but I don't know where from.  Maybe it was said?

In any case, it isn't common knowledge yet, so thank you for posting it.

Afternoon tee times announced. Last group goes off at 5:01. Will prolly get through 12 or 13 holes and then finish up tomorrow. Spieth and Day both going off here in next few 10-20 minutes. Spieth playing with Levin and Dufner. Interesting duo to play with....ones as cool as a cucumber....the other is a crazy nutcase.

You look at the four majors Rory's won, they've all been on relatively easy tracks. It seems like the more difficult the track, the more he struggles. I know he's got a good relationship with his caddie, but I wonder if he should consider a change towards someone who specializes more in putting. Any track with fast greens just give him all sorts of problems. I think he'll be fine at Troon in July, but if his putting woes continue, he's not going to be racking up many US Opens or Masters in his career.

Kiawah Island is pretty darn tough.

Once again the US Open is just not entertaining.  My complaint about the golf course is that the greens are too fast.  IMO, the USGA has screwed up a great track trying to protect par.

You're not here. The greens are great. Put your ball in the right spots and you'll be fine to run at some birdies. Getting to those spots is the challenge.

so much for the course being tough, don't really look all that tough tbh.

bit of a sh*t course in my opinion.

Uhmmmmmm… ever played it? It's a great track.

The members claim it's like this all the time but I agree with you - I have a hard time believing that.

It's a bit of a myth… but barely. Just a bit. Greens play at about this same speed all year. They're fast. Different strain of poa here. Kind of its own strain honestly. It's adapted to being cut and rolled a bunch.

The greens here are a bit above 12. But go back to that map of 16 green and you'll see just how much slope there is.

Players scored pretty well there. There was one round where the wind blew pretty damn hard and players had problems and that kept players from scoring a few strokes better. Key was greens weren't that treacherous. They didn't have that lightning speed you see out of a US Open of Masters. It's the fast tracks that seem to kill Rory.

I'm sure I could Google, but I'd rather ask.  Why is he a nutjob?

I've heard from several people that have worked tournaments that Levin is one of the biggest jerks on Tour. He definitely is a big wacky.

Are there not that many people really enjoying this tournament? The US Open isn't normally my favourite, but the leaderboard is definitely working for me and I think the course is a good one; not tricked up like I felt Chambers Bay was and Pinehurst the year before just bored me for some reason. Seems pretty quiet on here though, particularly compared to the interest in the Masters.

Also, for all the talk of the big three, I do prefer it with them doing the chasing.

Currently focusing on: Key 4 - shorter backswing.
