It's good to know that so many people on here share the same strange sense of humor :-D

In my bag (Motocaddy Light)

Taylormade Burner driver, Taylormade 4 wood, 3 x Ping Karsten Hybrids, 6-SW Ping Karsten irons with reg flex graphite shafts. Odyssey putter, 20 Bridgestone e6 balls, 2 water balls for the 5th hole, loads of tees, 2 golf gloves, a couple of hand warmers, cleaning towel, 5 ball markers, 2 pitch mark repairers, some aspirin, 3 hats, set of waterproofs, an umbrella, a pair of gaiters, 2 pairs of glasses. Christ, it's amazing I can pick the bloody thing up !!

I usually blame the tee.  Replacing an offending tee is easy and, more importantly, inexpensive.  If that does not produce satisfactory results, then clearly it is the ball, assuming the offending ball is still in my possession.  Several ball swaps may be required.  If those two adjustments still do not bring success, clubs are singled out.  First they are left "on the bench" for the balance of the round. Continued recalcitrance will relegate the offender to the spare club bag in the basement.  If the damage to my ego was large enough (misbehavior during a City Championship) the club is given to one of my grandchildren.

Taylormade Burner, Dunlop 3 & 5 woods, 2 x Dunlop tour red Hybrids (great clubs, honestly), Ping G2 irons, Odyssey white ice putter, a used condom, an old snotty tissue, and some half sucked boiled sweets

Don't you think the In My Bag info needs another line on well-behaved and misbehaving clubs.  That will be the best.  Name and Shame them so that they learn quickly :-P

What's in the bag

  • Taylor Made r5 dual Draw 9.5* (stiff)
  • Cobra Baffler 4H (stiff)
  • Taylor Made RAC OS 6-9,P,S (regular)

My 5 iron wasn't playing 'right' yesterday on number 8 tee shot.

So when I had a similar tee shot yesterday on number 17, I laid the 5i down on the tee marker and made her watch me hit the green with my 6i instead.  AND,,....get this......with a found nasty old wilson ball too....  it was great.  Everyone was watching.....the hybrids, the wood, the wedges, and all the other irons.  Only my putter gave a bit of sympathy, but she's a bit of a contrarian.

The trash talk alone on the drive to the green was deafening.  Much louder than that guy that sits on my shoulder and tells me to burn things.

It was a nice break.  And I think a solid lesson learned too.

Oh, don't get me started on how I keep my golf balls in check!  Those jerks require extensive attention to keep them under control (verbal bashing, refusal to clean, solitary confinement in the "stupid ball" pocket, banishment to the shag bag/lake/corn field).

lol, that is some serious rage right there.  Wow.

Several years ago I went to throw away a beverage can. In the receptical was 6 Big Bertha irons that some one had snapped in half. Yeah, I fished the heads out, and took them home and reshafted them.

Time out for my offending clubs. Usually the lob wedge, I should just garage it. Once I bounced it off the ground and the shaft folded......so much for getting physical, I had to reshaft it. Should have used the head as a paper weight

My golf clubs had been behaving quite well until last weekend, when my golf club held the annual championships. It was a medal event held over two days. Despite the fact my swing was easily as good as a pro, the golf balls were flying all over the place, but rarely where I aimed them. In fact, I suspect the balls may have been in cahoots with the clubs. As a result of the equipment's poor behavior I was made to look like a complete idiot. As tempted as I am to smash up my clubs and throw the golf balls in my local canal, I can't afford it. I have considered putting a radio in the garage and leaving it on all night so the clubs don't get any sleep, but fear this may backfire when I need them next. The best thing I could come up with is naming and shaming them on THIS forum. So Mr Golf Clubs, one more game like last weekend and I am taking up chess, and you will be sold to a lesser player

BE WARNED !!

Cute story...reminds me of a line in the movie The Godfather when Don Corleone sent his emissary lawyer to Hollywood to convince the studio head of Woltz Pictures to give a part to a family friend. Woltz exclaimed..."We gave this broad acting lessons, singing lessons, we spent a fortune and she ran off with this silver tongued ginny and made me look ridiculous. A man in my position can NOT be made to look ridiculous?"  (not an exact quote, but close enough).

Sure glad we are coming up with all disciplinary actions for wayward clubs. With out discipline, these critters could become a menace to society. The golfing society that is. :-D

That would be considered cruel and unusual punishment. ;-)

A former 60* wedge of mine is resting in Davy Jones Locker at the Hombre Golf Club in Panama City Beach. It was my first (and last) attempt at club building. I'm relatively certain that I did it wrong... couldn't hit that thing to save my life. I wasn't upset. I just never wanted to be tempted to hit that thing again.

    • My flop shots are 6-7° down (AoA). Does that answer it? 😄  The longer answer is… You have to be able to do both shots.
    • I hope you don't mind me raising this one from the dead. I got shortgamechef's video access thing for a few months in 2024. I watched his yip fix videos (the general gist is similar to the first video above, but with a lot more detail) and it made a lot of sense. I was working on it in my backyard off a mat for a while and my yippy thing was mostly gone. Aside from anything else, the flop shot using that technique is so easy and controllable. But I got onto a golf course for the first time of the year and found myself by the green on a downslope with the ball sitting down a little in the rough and I was, not to put too fine a point on it, f***ed. Shallow is all well and good from a good flat lie and I understand it, but you can't make that your be all and end all. I still don't know if it's a good idea to use steep all the time or just when you need to. I have a hard enough time with one technique, let alone too.  Just got a pitching skillest lesson with Erik and unless I misunderstood things some, he wants me a bit steeper. @iacas - where do you fall on the steep vs shallow argument and how do you vary it according to need?
