I'll take the under, no one is in top form at this point of the season and Tiger has probably logged more range/practice hours in the last 30 days than any of the others.

This makes logical sense.  On the other hand, so does the idea that in the previous year and change all of the other guys have logged tons of competitive experience and he's logged zero.

So, while I want the under to be the case, I won't be the least surprised if @Gunther is on the nose.

@david_wedzik proposed this the other day, and while I don't want to make a poll out of it, I'll ask you guys here:

If I set the over-under at 12.5th place, will you take the over or the under?

I'll take the under, but barely. Why? Because I think at least six people will be disinterested enough to play worse, and because Tiger is very interested in playing well.

Under.

...because the quarter came up tails.

I'll take the over. Will be happy if he just finished without hurting himself.

I personally think TW will make the cut this week. That's my hope! It will be interesting to see if he has the mental strength to go thru a few hard holes and if he has yips once again.

FYI, this is a no cut tournament.  18 golfers only.  As long as he finishes 72 holes and doesn't withdraw he cannot miss a cut.

I figure Tiger will place in the top 10, but not in the top 5.  Should be interesting to follow the tournament and see how everybody does.

Thanks for reminding of that! Forgot it was a no-cut tourney. Hope he's get a top 10 for sure...

Having no inside information, I can't base my opinions on much other than statistics. Tiger has statistically struggled during returns to professional golf after long periods off due to injuries (quite reasonable), so I won't be expecting a top 10 finish. My only hope is that he stays healthy throughout the round and is fit to play. The results will come eventually if he's able to play without injuries or pain.

Watching Tiger warm up.  Smooth tempo, man it looks good. BUT, nothing counts until he gets on the course.  In 2015, he looked good warming up, then tempo and more got wild during the round.  Hopefully he'll keep it together today.

Yea, exactly. I always wondered why La Cava can't just give him one more club and say "ok, three quarter range swing here, Tiger," just before an approach shot or something. The violence-quotient goes way up with Tiger's swing when he's on the course. I don't really know why. I want to blame adrenaline, but I think the human brain only has enough of that for a few minutes before it runs out.

I feel like Tiger has probably answered why there's such a difference between range and course swings in regards to tempo, but I can't remember what he said.

It'd be like trying to explain to your wife why she doesn't need an extra pair of shoes.  Tiger plays golf Tiger's way.  Although, I remember hearing that Steve Williams would intentionally lie to him about the distance so that he picked the club he should use instead of the one he wants.

Those who say Tiger is so mentally strong… I give them this as evidence to the contrary.

I do think he's stronger than most, but the fact that his "range swing" is so different than his "on-course swing" (when he stripes it on the range and hits it sideways on the course) is evidence that he's not otherworldly mentally strong.

First tee shot… Tiger's back*!!!! ;-)

* Double entendre.

That was supposedly just early on when his wedge game was a bit awkward.

just heard Brandel go on for about 3 minutes dissecting Tigers swing, he was fixated on how tigers right elbow seems to be moving straight down from the top of the BS, whereas before it was apparently moving down and out. any validity to his criticism?

I'm certainly excited to see him play. I know he teed off about 30 mins ago but I can't watch, as I'm at work.

Just hearing about the 2 eagles in the pro-am made me feel pretty good. Even if he blows it this week I can at least say he had that, and that the talent is probably still there.

Betting the over-under @12.5 for me here would be a wild bet. I feel like it's going to be T5 or better, or 12 or worse.
