I understand it's Tiger's comeback at his own tournament, and all eyes are understandably on him, especially as he's playing well.

But this is absolutely beautiful stuff by Matsuyama, and I hope he keeps it going for a really low finish and victory today.

With exciting young golfers like Spieth, McIlroy, Day, et al dominating the headlines, I've often thought that Matsuyama might step into that elite group at some point, soon. I really hope he picks up a major in 2017.

Matsuyama is playing great but I don't care for his swing, I don't mean this as a stereotypical statement but it reminds me of a samurai swordsmen, from the pause at the top to the very deliberate and cutting type swing motion.

To me a young Japanese player swinging like a samurai and dominating sounds awesome.  We might avoid calling him Hideki "The Samurai" Matsuyama however as it could be construed as racist.

His swing has inspired an improvement in mine ever since he won at Scottsdale last year.  When I try and pause like him at the top everything seems to stay in sequence and when I don't, my upper body gets ahead and that's when the hooks and pull hooks seem to start showing up.

Otherwise, though, I will agree it's not as fluid and "pretty" as many other swings.

I tend to get too fast on the backswing at times, especially when I'm fatigued so I use the pause at the top on the range and when i feel I'm too fast.

Not a good start to the day. I'm thinking 74. And the leader wins by 5.

Course looks like it's playing tougher today. I'm thinking something last yesterday for Tiger, but without the early fireworks.

I'm very interested to see how Matsuyama does. He's looked near bullet-proof all week.

Sorry. No DVR. It's live or nothing for me.

...and if there's golf on TV, I am usually watching it. Perhaps this would be a good time to start a Go Fund Me page to support cable service with DVR. :-D

You live in Florida?  Lots of my fellow ex-NYers there.  It would be cheaper to have you clipped than to buy you a DVR.  ;-)

But then again, what the hell do I know?

Tiger still struggling on Sundays, has to be mental fatigue from not playing at this level of intensity four days in a row.

It is good to see Tiger back and playing reasonably well.  I don't think he will make a big bump in interest in the game that he did in the late 90's/early 2000's.

But I think if he can stay healthy and win a few times he will gain more true fans who are already playing and may have rooted against him during his dominate, then controversial, years.
