Just verbal yelling.   I once hit my tee shot after looking down the empty fairway to only see the guys come out of the woods with their carts!   I didn't hit them but came close and one of the guys threaten me for three holes.

That video is just crazy.   I hope justice is served.

I've only dealt with verbal altercations after hitting a tee ball a lot longer than expected into a blind par 4 green.

Violence on golf course

I read this article about some violence on the golf course. I could totally see this happening. Has anyone else ever experienced any violence on the course?

Never, but I was shocked when I saw it on my swing by swing email.

The only thing close to violent on the course was when two Drill Instructors yelled at each other for 15 minutes non-stop. My ball was quivering so much that I had to put it back into the bag. . .

Seen it, but never involved with any violent behavior on a golf course.

A few times I have excused myself from a 4some before a situation may have become violent.

Most of the few eruptions I have seen involved balls being hit towards someone, that landed pretty close, or hit them. I have been hit, and had balls land close to me. I have my own, non violent way of handling that. Probably been lucky so far with that. :-P

I have seen way more fights at the local boat launch than on golf courses.

Nope - never seen anything violent on the golf course.  Heard and read about stuff . .but I don't think I've seen anything worse than an ugly look or hand gesture in real life.

Golf is purely incidental to this incident, imo . . .this guy is a psycho and somebody was going to get in his cross-hairs sooner or later.

I am certainly not blaming the guy that got beaten with the club, but the last thing I would do is to do something to provoke a guy that has already demonstrated he is capable of doing something stupid enough to risk serious injury.

Not high enough. . .

Possibly. Some people really over react. This was definitely over the top no matter what the victim or his party might have said. The cross-hairs thing actually happened, but was an altercation that probably could have been avoided by the victims.

The victim looks like the typical friendly golfer. I can't imagine him being the cause of a fight?

If I were the person behind and deemed the play too slow, I would've just driven two tees up asking if I could play through a hole ahead of them.

News reports are also coming out that a golfer was shot and killed during an argument at another golf course in north Texas. Thats two violent incidents on the golf course in my general neck of the woods. :~(

My thoughts and prayers go out to the victims and their families. May God heal all wounds and deliver swift justice to the attackers.

Only had one incident in NJ where the group behind us hit into our group twice and it was clearly intentional.  I waited for them to drive up to our tee box and politely but firmly told them that I didn't appreciate being hit into and that the next time they did I'd pocket their golf balls and they could come talk to me about getting them back.  One of the guys was about to spout off but the others apologized and said they were just going to skip ahead a few holes and come back and play these holes later.   We didn't see them the rest of the afternoon.

That guy is a DBag for sure.  Prosecute to the fullest and have Johnny Miller as the judge!

I have never see any violence but like many others I do get a bit irate if you are hitting into us.  First you get the look and the arm shrug.  Second time you get the ball hit back at you, this usually stops it if the look and arms didn't and if you do it again, your ball goes into the woods or water.

I can see an accident on a blind corner or if you were in the woods but if its blatant and continues you will loose your ball and a call to the clubhouse is in order.
