Angel?

No, wait, I think I'm gonna go with Mark O'Meara.

I'd guess Omeara.

Masters.com leaderboard has Sergio at -1, but their broadcast has him at -3.

I came to TST to find out what happened, I've seen somewhere (twitter, another board, ???) that there was a provisional played by Serg on 10; and that he was approached by a rules official.
If I can't get an answer soon, I'm certain it will be covered in a 30+ minute interview, which will be immediately followed by a 2 hour summary on the GC

I love what I'm seeing with Jose Maria right now.  Hit a ball way left on 13, immediately hit a provisional (OK, I didn't like either shot, but I love what happens next).  Found the first ball, apparently its unplayable, so he goes back as allowed, and drops.  No need to call a rules official, he knows the rules, no delay required.  Competent professional golf, knowledgeable about procedures and rules.  Bravo!

It is a system of do that when you are playing 2 fun rounds.

This seems to be the twitter consensus re: Sergio

Aside - I'd like to see Sergio make a run at it.  If not, if would be cool to see Bernhard run deep into Sunday.  More fun when an old timer scares the leaders.

I guess Freddy has showed up for the first couple days.  That represents the old timers just fine too.

I heard somewhere that the Mid-Amateur invitee has never made the cut at the Masters; Stewart Hagestad is currently five strokes above the projected cut line approaching Amen Corner.

Fred taking a double at #6.

He loves getting in contention and getting us all excited and then goes and rips our heart out.

Sad to get to the Masters week and realize I haven't played golf since Thanksgiving :-( But at least I'm able to watch the game, and I have an event to get ready for in a few weeks that should motivate me.

But at least it's the Masters.  Hard to be in anything but a good mood when watching.

He's made a 13ft birdie putt on #7. Don't count him out quite yet...

As (almost) always, this leaderboard is really solid right now. Something for everyone up there.

I would love to see one of the following three to win: Sergio, Rickie Fowler or Rory.  Looks pretty good so far...

I've counted him out. We all have seen this story play out so many times.

Would love it to be any of them. If Rory has a day where he's on, I think he'll win it, but it all seems a bit too scrappy at the moment.

Currently focusing on: Key 4 - shorter backswing.

He's not in contention until he sustains something to the back nine Sunday.

His most frequent MO is a couple missed short putts and loss of concentration sometime midway through the round on Saturday. Let's hope that isn't the case this year.

    • Day 11: did mirror work for a while. Worked on the same stuff.
    • I'm not sure you're calculating the number of strokes you would need to give correctly. The way I figure it, a 6.9 index golfer playing from tees that are rated 70.8/126 would have a course handicap of 6. A 20-index golfer playing from tees that are rated 64/106 would have a course handicap of 11. Therefore, based on the example above, assuming this is the same golf course and these index & slope numbers are based on the different tees, you should only have to give 5 strokes (or one stroke on the five most difficult holes if match play) not 6. Regardless, I get your point...the average golfer has no understanding of how the system works and trying to explain it to people, who haven't bothered to read the documentation provided by either the USGA or the R&A, is hopeless. In any case, I think the WHS as it currently is, does the best job possible of leveling the playing field and I think most golfers (obviously, based on the back & forth on this thread, not all golfers) at least comprehend that.
    • Day 115 12-5 Skills work tonight. Mostly just trying to be more aware of the shaft and where it's at. Hit foam golf balls.
    • Day 25 (5 Dec 25) - total rain day, worked on tempo and distance control.
    • Yes it's true in a large sample like a tournament a bunch of 20 handicaps shouldn't get 13 strokes more than you. One of them will have a day and win. But two on one, the 7 handicap is going to cover those 13 strokes the vast majority of the time. 20 handicaps are shit players. With super high variance and a very asymmetrical distribution of scores. Yes they shoot 85 every once in a while. But they shoot 110 way more often. A 7 handicap's equivalent is shooting 74 every once in a while but... 86 way more often?
