Hero was petty positive in my opinion. It will be interesting to see if something has changed since then. Being a full field and more of a standard tour stop, he could feel more pressure (self-inflicted) to play well. I think he'll make the cut, but not be over 25th by the end.

I think he makes the cut but I don't think he will be match fit enough mentally or physically to challenge near the top. I say 50+.

i hope he proves me wrong but I think he will need a handful of tourneys before he's challenging the top few.

While I happen to think he'll be in the lower half of players that make the cut, really there is no outcome that should be all that surprising.   If he is not completely healthy, WD is definitely in the cards.    But lets just say that he's completely healthy.  We're talking about a guy that has 79 career wins (in a relatively short career).  As long as he's swinging comfortably, even a Tiger Woods that is showing some signs of rust has the ability to make a run at a win.   I'm quite sure the guy still knows how to get around a golf course.  (especially this one)

Agreed. I think it's easy to forget just how good he can really be. If he is strong (sounds like he is) and well practiced (no reason he shouldn't be) and plays well (that's the million dollar question) then he can win this week.

His swing looks good to my amateur eyes.  I hope he is in contention come this weekend.

Voted for middle third but hoping he does well regardless!

I voted middle third. The Hero proved he could play four rounds in succession, and it seems like Tiger, and his team, are making sound decisions about his return to the Tour. They don't seem to be in a hurry. I'm thinking there may be one or two stops in Florida and/or Texas before the Masters. Would be nice to see him at Bay Hill again.

And I'm also thinking that he finishes in the upper part of that middle third.

I hope he wins the thing.

I voted top 20.

I still find it visually jarring with the way he seemingly stands up and pulls off the ball through impact... Alot of timing must be going on there.  But based on how he played at the Hero challenge, Im fully expecting Tiger to finish in the top 20. Possibly even top 10 if he drives it well.

    • Rule 1.2b refers you to a section in the Committee Procedures (Section 5I) that helps explain what a Code of Conduct may (and may not) do.  Defining acceptable behavior (including smoking) and applying Stroke of DQ penalties are certainly within the Committee's authority. That Code of Conduct certainly should be available, either in written form or in a webpage accessible to all.  It may not show up on the "standard local rules" for an organization, the "hard card", as it sounds like its a policy of this particular golf course. Assuming that's the case it should show up on the Notice to Players for this particular event.  If you can't find it, ask someone, send an email, try to find out.   In summary, yes the Committee can DQ (or withdraw) a Player for smoking, even before or between rounds.  But its up to you to go from there, communication is the key here.

    • Hmm... I not sure I completely understand. If the course has a no smoking policy, then he shouldn't smoke at the course.  I'm assuming since you are aware of the policy, it must be written down somewhere.  As far as getting disqualified from the tournament, I would think that would be up to the committee. But it feels like it is within their power to disqualify, so why take the chance?
