Well looks like I’ll be rooting for Watson this afternoon. If he does get the win and his second on the year he could be dangerous at Augusta...he has done well there a few times.

I missed the explanation for why he didn't take full relief.  Do you know what it was?  I feel like either A, you don't take relief because if you take full relief the backswing is super short or B, you take full relief and hope for a good lie and enough swing to make the green.  The OB fence shouldn't impact this taking of relief, I think? It's weird that he got to be in the middle ground.

I heard later that the official was there, but then walked away after Thomas dropped but before he took his stance, and so didn't realize that Thomas hadn't taken complete relief.  I'm guessing that Thomas wasn't aware of the actual rule, that he was required to take complete relief.  The video review official (I assume there is one these days) wouldn't automatically assess a penalty like he would in stroke play.  Being match play, I believe that its up to Bubba to contest Thomas' actions, which proved to be unnecessary.

Who would not be disappointed? 51th owgr, missing 50th by 1.5 points. He won 4 out of 5 matches, which was a suprise to me. Well done by the guy who allmost lost his tourcard last year.

Ian is a hell of a matchplayer, I would like to see him in the Rydercup team.

I'm pretty sure whoever looked at that was only looking at IJP's calculation, which would have put him in at #50, except Siwoo Kim played well enough in the WGC MP to jump from 54 to 50. Beating IJP out for that top 50 spot by 2.3745 to 2.3444 or roughly 1.45 points over IJP's 48 tournaments.

But to be honest it wasn't his play this week, it was his 3 missed cuts this year that really hurt his chances; and you'd think that a guy who thought he'd lost his card last year (only to have someone else find a "math" issue) would have someone more reliable than the Golf Channel figuring this stuff out.

If my livelyhood depended upon a few specific things, regardless of the situation, I'd make damn sure that I knew what was required to continue to that path.
